Habakuk 2
1 »Auf meine Warte will ich treten und auf dem Wachtturm mich aufstellen und will Ausschau halten, um zu erfahren, was er mir sagen wird und welche Antwort ich auf meine Beschwerde erhalte.«
I will stand upon my watch, and mount upon the rock, and watch to see what he will say by me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2 Da antwortete mir der HERR folgendermaßen: »Schreibe die (folgende) Offenbarung nieder und grabe sie deutlich auf Tafeln ein, damit man sie mühelos lesen kann –
And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision, and [that] plainly on a tablet, that he that reads it may run.
3 denn die (Erfüllung der) Offenbarung steht noch bis zu dem bestimmten Zeitpunkt aus, hastet jedoch dem Ziele zu und trügt nicht; wenn sie (mit ihrer Verwirklichung) auf sich warten läßt, so harre ihrer; denn sie trifft sicher ein und bleibt nicht aus.
For the vision [is] yet for a time, and it shall shoot forth at the end, and not in vain: though he should tarry, wait for him; for he will surely come, and will not tarry.
4 ›Wisse wohl: vermessen, nicht aufrichtig ist er im Inneren gesinnt; der Gerechte aber wird infolge seines treuen Festhaltens das Leben haben.‹«
If he should draw back, my soul has no pleasure in him: but the just shall live by my faith.
5 Und nunmehr – so steht’s: Der Wein trügt; der übermütige Mann, der ruht nicht, er, der seinen gierigen Rachen weit aufsperrt wie die Unterwelt und unersättlich ist wie der Tod, so daß er alle Völker an sich rafft und alle Völkerschaften in sich aufnimmt. (Sheol h7585)
But the arrogant man and the scorner, the boastful man, shall not finish anything; who has enlarged his desire as the grave, and like death he is never satisfied, and he will gather to himself all the nations, and will receive to himself all the peoples. (Sheol h7585)
6 Werden diese nicht alle ein Spottlied über ihn anstimmen und eine Stichelrede anheben mit versteckten Anspielungen auf ihn und ausrufen: »Wehe dem, der da aufhäuft, was nicht ihm gehört – wie lange noch? –, und der Schuldenlast auf sich lädt!
Shall not all these take up a parable against him? and a proverb to tell against him? and they shall say, Woe to him that multiplies to himself the possessions which are not his! how long? and who heavily loads his yoke.
7 Werden nicht plötzlich die von dir Mißhandelten sich erheben und die von dir Gepeinigten erwachen? Dann wirst du ihnen zur Plünderung werden!
For suddenly there shall arise up those that bite him, and they that plot against thee shall awake, and thou shalt be a plunder to them.
8 Denn weil du viele Völker ausgeplündert hast, werden alle übrigen Völker dich wieder ausplündern wegen der Blutschuld an den Menschen und wegen deiner Gewalttaten an der Erde, an der Stadt und allen ihren Bewohnern!
Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the nations that are left shall spoil [thee], because of the blood of men, and the sins of the land and city, and of all that dwell in it.
9 Wehe dem, der unredlichen Gewinn einheimst in sein Haus, um sich ein Nest in der Höhe zu bauen, um gesichert zu sein gegen die Gewalt des Unglücks!
Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evils.
10 Du bist auf Schande für dein Haus bedacht gewesen, auf die Vertilgung vieler Völker, und hast Verschuldung auf dich selbst gebracht.
Thou hast devised shame to thy house, thou hast utterly destroyed many nations, and thy soul has sinned.
11 Denn die Steine werden aus der Mauer heraus schreien und die Balken aus dem Holzwerk in ihr Geschrei einstimmen!
For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beetle out of the timber shall speak.
12 Wehe dem, der Städte mit Blut baut und Burgen auf Ungerechtigkeit gründet!
Woe to him that builds a city with blood, and establishes a city by unrighteousness.
13 Wisset wohl: vom HERRN der Heerscharen ist es so geordnet, daß Völker fürs Feuer sich mühen und Völkerschaften für nichts sich abarbeiten.
Are not these things of the Lord Almighty? surely many people have been exhausted in the fire, and many nations have fainted.
14 Denn die Erde wird voll werden von der Erkenntnis der Herrlichkeit des HERRN gleich den Wassern, die den Meeresgrund bedecken.
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord; it shall cover them as water.
15 Wehe dem, der seine Genossen aus Schalen und Schläuchen trinken läßt und sie dadurch auch trunken macht, um sich am Anblick ihrer Nacktheit zu weiden!
Woe to him that gives his neighbour to drink the thick lees [of wine], and intoxicates [him], that he may look upon their secret parts.
16 Du hast dich an Schande gesättigt statt an Ehre: so trinke nun auch du, daß du taumelst! Der Becher in der Rechten des HERRN kommt jetzt an dich, so daß Schande auf deine Herrlichkeit fällt.
Drink thou also [thy] fill of disgrace instead of glory: shake, O heart, and quake, the cup of the right hand of the Lord has come round upon thee, and dishonour has gathered upon thy glory.
17 Denn der Frevel am Libanon wird auf dir lasten und das Gemetzel unter den Tieren dich in Schrecken setzen [wegen des vergossenen Menschenblutes und wegen deiner Gewalttaten an der Erde, an der Stadt und all ihren Bewohnern].
For the ungodliness of Libanus shall cover thee, and distress because of wild beasts shall dismay thee, because of the blood of men, and the sins of the land and city, and of all that dwell in it.
18 Wehe dem, der zu einem Stück Holz sagt: ›Wache auf!‹ oder zu einem stummen Stein: ›Rege dich!‹ Kann solcher Götze Weisungen geben? Sieh doch: er ist mit Gold und Silber überzogen, und keine Spur von Odem findet sich in seinem Innern.«
What profit it the graven image, that they have graven it? [one] has made it a molten work, a false image; for the maker has trusted in his work, to make dumb idols.
19 Was hat je ein Schnitzbild genützt, daß sein Bildner es geschnitzt hat? Was ein Gußbild und ein Lügengötze, daß sein Bildner Lust dazu gehabt hat, stumme Abgötter zu verfertigen? –
Woe to him that says to the wood, Awake, arise; and to the stone, Be thou exalted! whereas it is an image, and this is a casting of gold and silver, and there is no breath in it.
20 Aber der HERR ist in seinem heiligen Tempel: stille vor ihm, du ganze Erde!
But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth fear before him.
