1 Mose 9
1 Dann segnete Gott Noah und seine Söhne mit folgenden Worten: »Seid fruchtbar und mehret euch und füllet die Erde.
Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “I want you to have many children who will live all over the earth.
2 Die Furcht und der Schrecken vor euch soll auf allem Getier der Erde liegen und auf allen Vögeln des Himmels! Alles, was sich auf dem Erdboden regt, auch alle Fische des Meeres: in eure Gewalt sind sie gegeben.
All the wild animals on the earth and all the birds, all the creatures that scurry across the ground, and all the fish, will be very afraid [DOU] of you. I have put them under your control.
3 Alles, was sich regt und was da lebt, soll euch zur Nahrung dienen: wie (einstmals) die grünenden Pflanzen, so weise ich euch (jetzt) alles zu.
Just as I previously said you could eat green plants for food, now I am saying you can eat everything that lives and moves.
4 Nur Fleisch, das noch seine Seele, nämlich sein Blut, in sich hat, dürft ihr nicht essen.
[It is blood that causes creatures to be alive], therefore you must not eat meat that still has blood in it after the animal is killed. [After you have drained the blood out, you may cook it and eat it].
5 Jedoch euer eigenes Blut, um wessen Leben es sich auch bei euch handle, will ich rächen; an jedem Tiere will ich es rächen; und auch an jedem Menschen, an euch untereinander, will ich das Leben jedes Menschen rächen:
I insist that murderers must be executed. Animals that kill people must also be executed. The reason that everyone who murders someone else must be executed is that
6 Wer Menschenblut vergießt, dessen Blut soll wieder durch Menschen vergossen werden; denn nach seinem Bilde hat Gott den Menschen geschaffen.
I made people to be like myself [in many ways]. So someone who murders another human being must be executed by others, [because he killed someone who is like me].
7 Ihr aber – seid fruchtbar und mehret euch, wimmelt auf der Erde und werdet zahlreich auf ihr!«
As for you, I want you to produce many children, in order that they and their descendants may live all over the earth.”
8 Weiter sagte Gott zu Noah und seinen Söhnen, die bei ihm waren, folgendes:
God also said to Noah and his sons,
9 »Ich will (jetzt) einen Bund mit euch aufrichten und mit eurer Nachkommenschaft, die nach euch sein wird,
“Listen carefully. I am now making a solemn promise to you and with your descendants,
10 auch mit allen lebenden Wesen, die bei euch sind, mit den Vögeln, den zahmen und allen wilden Tieren, die bei euch sind, nämlich mit allen denen, die aus der Arche herausgegangen sind, mit allem Getier der Erde.
and with all the living creatures that are with you—including the birds, the livestock, and the wild animals—every living creature on the earth that came out of the boat with you.
11 Ich schließe also meinen Bund mit euch dahin, daß hinfort niemals wieder alle lebenden Geschöpfe durch das Wasser einer Sintflut vertilgt werden sollen und daß niemals wieder eine Sintflut eintreten soll, um die Erde zu verheeren!«
This is the promise that I am making to you: I will never again destroy all living creatures by a flood, or destroy everything else on the earth by a flood.”
12 Dann fuhr Gott fort: »Dies soll das Zeichen des Bundes sein, den ich zwischen mir und euch und allen lebenden Wesen, die bei euch sind, auf ewige Zeiten festsetze:
Then God said to him, “This is the sign to guarantee that I will keep the promise that I am making to you and to all living creatures, a promise that I will keep forever:
13 meinen Bogen stelle ich in die Wolken; der soll das Zeichen des Bundes zwischen mir und der Erde sein!
[From time to time] I will put a rainbow in the sky. It will remind me of my promise that I have made to you and everything on the earth.
14 Wenn ich hinfort Gewölk über der Erde sammle und der Bogen in den Wolken sichtbar wird,
When I cause rain to fall from the clouds, and a rainbow appears in the sky,
15 dann will ich meines Bundes gedenken, der zwischen mir und euch und allen lebenden Wesen jeglicher Fleischesart besteht; und das Wasser soll niemals wieder zu einer Sintflut werden, um alle lebenden Geschöpfe zu vertilgen.
it will remind me about the promise that I have made to you and all living creatures, my promise that there will never again be a flood that will destroy all living creatures.
16 Nein, wenn der Bogen in den Wolken steht, so will ich ihn anschauen, um des ewigen Bundes zwischen Gott und allen lebenden Wesen von jeglicher Fleischesart, die auf der Erde ist, zu gedenken.«
Whenever there is a rainbow in the sky, I will see it, and I will think about the promise that I have made to every living creature that is upon the earth, a promise that I will keep forever.”
17 Und Gott schloß mit den Worten an Noah: »Dies ist das Zeichen des Bundes, den ich zwischen mir und allen lebenden Wesen auf der Erde aufgerichtet habe.«
Then God said to Noah, “The rainbow will be the sign of the promise that I have made to all the creatures that live on the earth.”
18 Die Söhne Noahs, die aus der Arche gingen, waren Sem, Ham und Japheth; Ham aber ist der Vater Kanaans.
The sons of Noah who came out of the boat were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham later became the father of Canaan.
19 Diese drei waren die Söhne Noahs, und von diesen aus ist die ganze Erde bevölkert worden.
All the people on the earth are descended from those three sons of Noah.
20 Noah aber wurde nun ein Landmann und legte auch einen Weinberg an.
Noah was a farmer. He planted grapevines.
21 Als er dann aber von dem Weine trank, wurde er trunken und lag entblößt in seinem Zelt.
[When they later produced grapes, he made wine from the grapes]. One day, when he drank too much of the wine, he became drunk, and he lay naked in his tent.
22 Als nun Ham, der Vater Kanaans, seinen Vater entblößt hatte daliegen sehen, erzählte er es seinen beiden Brüdern draußen.
Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father lying naked in the tent. So he went outside and told his two older brothers what he had seen.
23 Da nahmen Sem und Japheth das Obergewand (ihres Vaters), legten es beide gemeinsam auf ihre Schultern, traten rückwärts hinzu und bedeckten ihren entblößten Vater damit; ihr Gesicht aber war dabei abgewandt, so daß sie die Blöße ihres Vaters nicht sahen.
Then Shem and Japheth took a large cloth and placed it across their backs, and walked backwards into the tent. They covered their father’s naked body with the cloth. Their faces were turned away from their father, so they did not see him naked.
24 Als nun Noah von seinem Rausch erwachte und erfuhr, wie sein jüngster Sohn sich gegen ihn benommen hatte,
When Noah woke up [and was sober again], he found out how wrongfully Ham, his youngest son, had behaved toward him.
25 rief er aus: »Verflucht sei Kanaan! Der niedrigste Knecht soll er seinen Brüdern sein!«
He said, “I am cursing Ham’s youngest son, Canaan, and his descendants. They will be like slaves to their uncles.
26 Dann fuhr er fort: »Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Sems! Kanaan aber soll sein Knecht sein!
I will ask God to enlarge the territory that belongs to Japheth, and allow his descendants to live peacefully among the descendants of Shem [MTY].
27 Weiten Raum schaffe Gott dem Japheth, und er wohne in den Zelten Sems! Kanaan aber soll sein Knecht sein!«
And I desire that Canaan’s descendants will be like slaves of Japheth’s descendants.”
28 Nach der Sintflut lebte Noah noch dreihundertfünfzig Jahre;
Noah lived 350 more years after the flood.
29 demnach betrug die ganze Lebenszeit Noahs neunhundertundfünfzig Jahre; dann starb er.
He died when he was 950 years old.
