1 Mose 3
1 Nun war die Schlange listiger als alle Tiere des Feldes, die Gott der HERR geschaffen hatte; die sagte zum Weibe: »Sollte Gott wirklich gesagt haben: ›Ihr dürft von allen Bäumen des Gartens nicht essen!‹«
Now, the serpent, was more crafty than any living thing of the field which Yahweh God had made, so he said unto the woman, Can it really be that God hath said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 Da antwortete das Weib der Schlange: »Von den Früchten der Bäume im Garten dürfen wir essen;
And the woman said unto the serpent, —Of the fruit of the trees of the garden, we may eat;
3 nur von den Früchten des Baumes, der mitten im Garten steht, hat Gott gesagt: ›Ihr dürft von ihnen nicht essen, ja sie nicht einmal anrühren, sonst müßt ihr sterben!‹«
but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said Ye shall not eat of it neither shall ye touch it, —lest ye die.
4 Da erwiderte die Schlange dem Weibe: »Ihr werdet sicherlich nicht sterben;
And the serpent said unto the woman, —Ye shall not die,
5 sondern Gott weiß wohl, daß, sobald ihr davon eßt, euch die Augen aufgehen werden und ihr wie Gott selbst sein werdet, indem ihr erkennt, was gut und was böse ist.«
For God doth know, that in the day ye eat thereof, then shall your eyes be opened, —and ye shall become like God, knowing good and evil.
6 Da nun das Weib sah, daß von dem Baume gut zu essen sei und daß er eine Lust für die Augen und ein begehrenswerter Baum sei, weil man durch ihn klug werden könne, so nahm sie eine von seinen Früchten und aß und gab auch ihrem Manne, der bei ihr war, und der aß auch.
And, when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was desirable to the eyes and the tree was pleasant to make one knowing, then took she of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and she gave to her husband also, along with her, and he did eat.
7 Da gingen ihnen beiden die Augen auf, und sie nahmen wahr, daß sie nackt waren; darum hefteten sie Blätter vom Feigenbaum zusammen und machten sich Schürze daraus.
Then were opened the eyes of them both, and they knew that, naked, they were, —so they tacked together fig-leaves, and made for themselves girdles,
8 Als sie dann aber die Stimme Gottes des HERRN hörten, der in der Abendkühle im Garten sich erging, versteckten sie sich, der Mann (Adam) und sein Weib, vor Gott dem HERRN unter den Bäumen des Gartens.
Then heard they the sound of Yahweh God, walking to and fro in the garden at the breeze of the day, —so he hid himself—the man with his wife, from the face of Yahweh God, amid the trees of the garden.
9 Aber Gott der HERR rief nach dem Mann mit den Worten: »Wo bist du?«
And Yahweh God called unto the man, —and said to him, Where art thou?
10 Da antwortete er: »Als ich deine Stimme im Garten hörte, fürchtete ich mich, weil ich nackt bin; darum habe ich mich versteckt.«
And he said, The sound of thee, heard I in the garden, and I was afraid, for, naked, was I, so I hid myself.
11 Da fragte Gott: »Wer hat dir gesagt, daß du nackt bist? Du hast doch nicht etwa von dem Baume gegessen, von dem zu essen ich dir verboten habe?«
And he said, Who told thee that, naked, thou wast? Of the tree whereof I commanded thee not to eat, hast thou eaten?
12 Da antwortete Adam: »Das Weib, das du mir beigesellt hast, die hat mir von dem Baume gegeben, da habe ich gegessen.«
And the man said, —The woman whom thou didst put with me, she, gave me of the tree, so I did eat.
13 Da sagte Gott der HERR zu dem Weibe: »Warum hast du das getan?« Das Weib antwortete: »Die Schlange hat mich verführt; da habe ich gegessen.«
Then said Yahweh God to the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, the serpent, deceived me, so I did eat.
14 Da sagte Gott der HERR zu der Schlange: »Weil du das getan hast, sollst du verflucht sein vor allen Tieren, zahmen und wilden! Auf dem Bauche sollst du kriechen und Staub fressen dein Leben lang!
Then said Yahweh God unto the serpent—Because thou hast done this, Accursed, art thou above every tame-beast, and above every wild-beast of the field, —on thy belly, shalt thou go, and dust, shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.
15 Und ich will Feindschaft setzen zwischen dir und dem Weibe und zwischen deinem Samen und ihrem Samen: er wird dir nach dem Kopfe treten, und du wirst ihm nach der Ferse schnappen.«
And enmity, will I put between thee, and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed, —He shall crush thy head, but, thou, shalt crush his heel.
16 Zum Weibe aber sagte er: »Viele Mühsal will ich dir bereiten, wenn du Mutter wirst: mit Schmerzen sollst du Kinder gebären und doch nach deinem Manne Verlangen tragen; er aber soll dein Herr sein!«
Unto the woman, he said, I will, increase, thy pain of pregnancy, In pain, shalt thou bear children, —Yet, unto thy husband, shall be thy longing, Though, he, rule over thee.
17 Zu dem Manne aber sagte er: »Weil du der Aufforderung deines Weibes nachgekommen bist und von dem Baume gegessen hast, von dem zu essen ich dir ausdrücklich verboten hatte, so soll der Ackerboden verflucht sein um deinetwillen: mit Mühsal sollst du dich von ihm nähren dein Leben lang!
And, to the man, he said, Because thou didst hearken to the voice of thy wife, and so didst eat of the tree as to which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it, Accursed be the ground for thy sake, In pain, shalt thou eat of it, all the days of thy life;
18 Dornen und Gestrüpp soll er dir wachsen lassen, und du sollst dich vom Gewächs des Feldes nähren!
Thorn also and thistle, shall it shoot forth to thee, —when thou hast come to eat of the herb of the field:
19 Im Schweiße deines Angesichts sollst du dein Brot essen, bis du zum Erdboden zurückkehrst, von dem du genommen bist; denn Staub bist du, und zu Staub mußt du wieder werden!«
In the sweat of thy face, shalt thou eat bread, until thou return to the ground, because therefrom, wast thou taken, —For, dust, thou art, And, unto dust, shalt thou return.
20 Adam gab dann seinem Weibe den Namen Eva; denn sie ist die Stammutter aller Lebenden geworden.
So the man called the name of his wife, Eve, —in that, she, was made mother of every one living.
21 Darauf machte Gott der HERR dem Manne und seinem Weibe Röcke von Fellen und bekleidete sie (damit).
And Yahweh God made for the man—and for his wife—tunics of skin and clothed them.
22 Und Gott der HERR sagte: »Der Mensch ist jetzt ja geworden wie unsereiner, insofern er gut und böse zu unterscheiden weiß. Nun aber – daß er nur nicht seine Hand ausstreckt und auch (Früchte) vom Baume des Lebens nimmt und (sie) ißt und unsterblich wird!«
Then said Yahweh God—Lo! man, hath become like one of us, in respect of knowing good and evil, —Now, therefore, lest he thrust forth his hand, and take even of the tree of life, and eat, and live to times age-abiding, —
23 So stieß ihn denn Gott der HERR aus dem Garten Eden hinaus, damit er den Erdboden bestelle, von dem er genommen war;
So Yahweh God put him forth from the garden of Eden, —to till the ground wherefrom he had been taken.
24 und als er den Menschen hinausgetrieben hatte, ließ er östlich vom Garten Eden die Cherube sich lagern und die Flamme des kreisenden Schwertes, damit sie den Zugang zum Baume des Lebens bewachten.
So he expelled the man, —and caused to dwell—in front of the garden of Eden—cherubim and a brandishing sword—flame, to keep the way to the tree of life.
