1 Mose 29
1 Hierauf setzte Jakob seine Wanderung fort und gelangte in das Land, das gegen Osten lag.
Then Iacob lyfte vp his fete and wet toward the east countre.
2 Als er sich dort umsah, gewahrte er auf dem Felde einen Brunnen, an dem gerade drei Herden Kleinvieh lagerten; denn aus diesem Brunnen pflegte man die Herden zu tränken; über der Öffnung des Brunnens aber lag ein großer Stein.
And as he loked aboute behold there was a well in the feld and. iij. flockes of shepe laye therby (for at that well were the flockes watered) and there laye a great stone at the well mouth
3 Diesen wälzte man erst dann, wenn alle Herden dort zusammengetrieben waren, von der Brunnenöffnung ab und tränkte das Kleinvieh; darauf legte man den Stein wieder zurück an seinen Platz über der Öffnung des Brunnens.
And the maner was to brynge the flockes thyther and to roull the stone fro the welles mouth and to water the shepe and to put the stone agayne vppon the wells mouth vnto his place.
4 Da sagte Jakob zu den Leuten: »Meine Brüder, woher seid ihr?« Sie antworteten: »Wir sind aus Haran.«
And Iacob sayde vnto the: brethern whece be ye? and they sayde: of Haran ar we.
5 Hierauf fragte er sie: »Kennt ihr Laban, den Sohn Nahors?« Sie antworteten: »Ja, den kennen wir.«
And he sayde vnto the: knowe ye Laban the sonne of Nahor. And they sayde: we knowe him.
6 Da fragte er sie: »Geht es ihm gut?« Sie erwiderten: »Ja; und da kommt gerade seine Tochter Rahel mit dem Kleinvieh!«
And he sayde vnto the: is he in good health? And they sayde: he is in good health: and boholde his doughter Rahel cometh with ye shepe.
7 Da sagte er: »Es ist ja noch hoch am Tage, und noch ist’s nicht die Zeit, das Vieh zusammenzutreiben; tränkt doch das Kleinvieh und laßt es dann wieder weiden!«
And he sayde: lo it is yet a great whyle to nyghte nether is it tyme yt the catell shulde be gathered together: water the shepe and goo and fede the.
8 Sie antworteten: »Das können wir nicht, bis alle Herden beisammen sind; dann erst wälzt man den Stein von der Öffnung des Brunnens ab, und wir tränken das Kleinvieh.«
And they sayde: we maye not vntill all ye flockes be brought together and the stone be roulled fro the wells mouth and so we water oure shepe.
9 Während er noch mit ihnen redete, war Rahel mit dem Kleinvieh ihres Vaters herangekommen; denn sie war eine Hirtin.
Whyle he yet talked with the Rahel came with hir fathers shepe for she kepte them.
10 Sobald nun Jakob Rahel, die Tochter seines Oheims Laban, und das Kleinvieh seines Oheims Laban erblickt hatte, trat er hinzu, wälzte den Stein von der Brunnenöffnung ab und tränkte das Kleinvieh seines Oheims Laban.
As soone As Iacob sawe Rahel the doughter of Laban his mothers brother and the shepe of Laban his mothers brother he went and rowled the stone fro the wells mouth and watered the shepe of Laba his mothers brother
11 Dann küßte er Rahel, weinte laut
And Iacob kyssed Rahel and lyfte vp his voyce and wepte:
12 und teilte ihr mit, daß er ein Neffe ihres Vaters, und zwar ein Sohn Rebekkas, sei; da eilte sie weg und berichtete es ihrem Vater.
and tolde her also yt he was hir fathers brother and Rebeccas sonne. The Rahel ranne and tolde hir father.
13 Als nun Laban die Nachricht über Jakob, den Sohn seiner Schwester, vernahm, lief er ihm entgegen, umarmte und küßte ihn und führte ihn in sein Haus; da erzählte er dem Laban seine ganze Lebensgeschichte.
When Laban herd tell of Iacob his sisters sonne he ranne agaynst him and embraced hi and kyssed him ad broughte him in to his house. And the Iacob told Laba all ye matter
14 Laban aber sagte zu ihm: »Fürwahr, du bist von meinem Fleisch und Bein.« Als Jakob nun einen Monat lang bei Laban geblieben war,
And the Laba sayde: well thou art my bone and my flesh. Abyde with me the space of a moneth.
15 sagte dieser zu ihm: »Du bist doch mein Verwandter: solltest du da umsonst für mich arbeiten? Laß mich wissen, was dein Lohn sein soll!«
And afterward Laban sayd vnto Iacob: though thou be my brother shuldest thou therfore serue me for nought? tell me what shall thi wages be?
16 Nun hatte Laban zwei Töchter: die ältere hieß Lea, die jüngere Rahel;
And Laban had. ij. doughters the eldest called Lea and the yongest Rahel.
17 Lea hatte matte Augen, während Rahel schön von Gestalt und schön von Angesicht war.
Lea was tender eyed: But Rahel was bewtifull ad well fauored.
18 Daher hatte Jakob die Rahel liebgewonnen und sagte: »Ich will dir sieben Jahre lang um deine jüngere Tochter Rahel dienen.«
And Iacob loued her well and sayde: I will serue the. vij. yere for Rahel thy yongest doughter.
19 Laban antwortete: »Es ist besser, ich gebe sie dir als einem fremden Manne: bleibe also bei mir!«
And Laban answered: it is better yt I geue her the than to another man? byde therfore with me.
20 So diente denn Jakob um Rahel sieben Jahre, und diese kamen ihm wie wenige Tage vor: so lieb hatte er Rahel.
And Iacob serued. vij. yeres for Rahel and they semed vnto him but a fewe dayes for the loue he had to her.
21 Hierauf sagte Jakob zu Laban: »Meine Zeit ist abgelaufen: gib mir nun meine Frau, damit ich mich mit ihr verheirate.«
And Iacob sayde vnto Laban geue me my wife that I maye lye with hir for the tyme appoynted me is come.
22 Da lud Laban alle Einwohner des Ortes ein und veranstaltete ein Festmahl;
Than Laban bade all the men of that place and made a feast.
23 am Abend aber nahm er seine Tochter Lea und brachte sie zu ihm hinein, und er wohnte ihr bei;
And when eue was come he toke Lea his doughter and broughte her to him and he went in vnto her.
24 und Laban gab seiner Tochter Lea seine Magd Silpa zur Leibmagd. Am andern Morgen aber stellte es sich heraus, daß es Lea war.
And Laban gaue vnto his doughter Lea Zilpha his mayde to be hir seruaunte.
25 Als er nun zu Laban sagte: »Was hast du mir da angetan! Habe ich nicht um Rahel bei dir gedient? Warum hast du mich betrogen?«,
And when the mornynge was come beholde it was Lea. Than sayde he to Laban: wherfore hast thou played thus with me? dyd not I serue the for Rahel wherfore than hast thou begyled me?
26 antwortete Laban: »Hierzulande ist es nicht Sitte, die jüngere Tochter vor der älteren wegzugeben.
Laban answered: it is not the maner of this place to marke the yongest before the eldest.
27 Bringe die Brautwoche mit dieser zu Ende, dann soll dir auch die andere gegeben werden für den Dienst, den du mir noch weitere sieben Jahre leisten mußt.«
Passe out this weke and tha shall this also be geuen the for ye seruyce which thou shalt serue me yet. vij. yeres more.
28 Jakob willigte ein und hielt die Brautwoche mit Lea aus; dann gab Laban ihm auch seine Tochter Rahel zur Frau;
And Iacob dyd eue so and passed out that weke and than he gaue hi Rahel his doughter to wyfe also.
29 und Laban gab seiner Tochter Rahel seine Magd Bilha zur Leibmagd.
And Laban gaue to Rahel his doughter Bilha his handmayde to be hir servaute.
30 Jakob ging nun auch zu Rahel ein, hatte aber Rahel lieber als Lea; er blieb dann noch weitere sieben Jahre bei Laban im Dienst.
So laye he by Rahel also and loued Rahel more than Lea and serued him yet. vij. yeres more.
31 Als nun der HERR sah, daß Lea ungeliebt war, machte er sie fruchtbar, während Rahel kinderlos blieb.
When the LORde sawe that Lea was despised he made her frutefull: but Rahel was baren.
32 Lea wurde also guter Hoffnung und gebar einen Sohn, den sie Ruben nannte; »denn«, sagte sie, »der HERR hat mein Elend angesehen; ja, nun wird mein Mann mich liebgewinnen«.
And Lea conceaued and bare a sonne ad called his name Rube for she sayde: the LORde hath loked apon my tribulation. And now my husbonde will loue me.
33 Hierauf wurde sie wieder guter Hoffnung, und als sie einen Sohn geboren hatte, sagte sie: »Weil der HERR gehört hat, daß ich ungeliebt bin, hat er mir auch diesen Sohn gegeben«; darum nannte sie ihn Simeon.
And she conceaued agayne and bare a sonne and sayde: the LORde hath herde that I am despised ad hath therfore geuen me this sonne also and she called him Simeon.
34 Als sie dann wieder guter Hoffnung geworden war und einen Sohn gebar, sagte sie: »Nun endlich wird mein Mann mir anhangen, denn ich habe ihm drei Söhne geboren«; darum nannte sie ihn Levi.
And she conceaued yet and bare a sonne ad sayde: now this once will my husbonde kepe me company because I haue borne him. iij. sonnes: and therfore she called his name Levi.
35 Hierauf wurde sie nochmals guter Hoffnung und gebar einen Sohn; da sagte sie: »Diesmal will ich den HERRN preisen!« Darum nannte sie ihn Juda. Danach bekam sie kein Kind mehr.
And she conceaued yet agayne and bare a sonne saynge? Now will I prayse the LORde: therfore she called his name Iuda and left bearynge.
