1 Mose 21
1 Der HERR suchte dann Sara gnädig heim, wie er verheißen hatte, und tat an ihr, wie er zugesagt hatte:
And Jehovah hath looked after Sarah as He hath said, and Jehovah doth to Sarah as He hath spoken;
2 Sara wurde guter Hoffnung und gebar dem Abraham in seinem Greisenalter einen Sohn zu der Zeit, die Gott ihm im voraus angegeben hatte.
and Sarah conceiveth, and beareth a son to Abraham, to his old age, at the appointed time that God hath spoken of with him;
3 Abraham gab dann seinem Sohne, der ihm geboren worden war, den Sara ihm geboren hatte, den Namen Isaak
and Abraham calleth the name of his son who is born to him, whom Sarah hath born to him — Isaac;
4 und beschnitt seinen Sohn, als er acht Tage alt war, wie Gott ihm geboten hatte.
and Abraham circumciseth Isaac his son, [being] a son of eight days, as God hath commanded him.
5 Hundert Jahre war Abraham alt, als ihm sein Sohn Isaak geboren wurde.
And Abraham [is] a son of a hundred years in Isaac his son being born to him,
6 Da sagte Sara: »Ein Lachen hat mir Gott bereitet: jeder, der von der Sache hört, wird über mich lachen.«
and Sarah saith, 'God hath made laughter for me; every one who is hearing laugheth for me.'
7 Weiter sagte sie: »Wer hätte wohl je dem Abraham gesagt, daß Sara noch Kinder an der Brust nähren würde? Und nun habe ich ihm doch noch einen Sohn in seinem Greisenalter geboren!«
She saith also, 'Who hath said to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled sons, that I have born a son for his old age?'
8 Und der Knabe wuchs heran und wurde entwöhnt; da veranstaltete Abraham am Tage der Entwöhnung Isaaks ein großes Festmahl.
And the lad groweth, and is weaned, and Abraham maketh a great banquet in the day of Isaac's being weaned;
9 Als nun Sara den Sohn der Ägypterin Hagar, den diese dem Abraham geboren hatte, mit ihrem Sohne Isaak spielen sah,
and Sarah seeth the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she hath borne to Abraham, mocking,
10 sagte sie zu Abraham: »Verstoße die Magd da und ihren Sohn! Denn der Sohn dieser Magd soll nicht mit meinem Sohn, mit Isaak, erben!«
and she saith to Abraham, 'Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid hath no possession with my son — with Isaac.'
11 Dieses Wort betrübte Abraham sehr mit Rücksicht auf seinen Sohn;
And the thing is very wrong in the eyes of Abraham, for his son's sake;
12 aber Gott sagte zu Abraham: »Laß es dir um den Knaben und um deine Magd nicht leid sein: gehorche der Sara in allem, was sie von dir verlangt; denn nur nach Isaak soll dir Nachkommenschaft genannt werden.
and God saith unto Abraham, 'Let it not be wrong in thine eyes because of the youth, and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah saith unto thee — hearken to her voice, for in Isaac is a seed called to thee.
13 Doch auch den Sohn der Magd will ich zu einem Volke werden lassen, weil er dein Sohn ist.«
As to the son of the handmaid also, for a nation I set him, because he [is] thy seed.'
14 So stand denn Abraham am andern Morgen früh auf, nahm Brot und einen Schlauch mit Wasser und gab dies der Hagar; den Knaben aber setzte er ihr auf die Schulter und entließ so beide. Da ging sie weg und irrte in der Wüste von Beerseba umher.
And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and taketh bread, and a bottle of water, and giveth unto Hagar (placing [it] on her shoulder), also the lad, and sendeth her out; and she goeth on, and goeth astray in the wilderness of Beer-Sheba;
15 Als dann das Wasser im Schlauch zu Ende gegangen war, warf sie den Knaben unter einen der Sträucher,
and the water is consumed from the bottle, and she placeth the lad under one of the shrubs.
16 ging weg und setzte sich abseits ihm gegenüber, wohl einen Bogenschuß weit entfernt; »denn«, sagte sie, »ich kann das Sterben des Knaben nicht ansehen!« Sie setzte sich also ihm gegenüber; er aber fing an, laut zu weinen.
And she goeth and sitteth by herself over-against, afar off, about a bow-shot, for she said, 'Let me not look on the death of the lad;' and she sitteth over-against, and lifteth up her voice, and weepeth.
17 Da hörte Gott das Schreien des Knaben, und der Engel Gottes rief der Hagar vom Himmel her die Worte zu: »Was ist dir, Hagar? Fürchte dich nicht! Denn Gott hat das Schreien des Knaben gehört, ebendort wo er liegt.
And God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, 'What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he [is];
18 Stehe auf, nimm den Knaben und halte ihn fest an der Hand, denn ich will ihn zu einem großen Volke werden lassen.«
rise, lift up the youth, and lay hold on him with thy hand, for for a great nation I set him.'
19 Dann tat Gott ihr die Augen auf, so daß sie eine Quelle mit Wasser erblickte; da ging sie hin, füllte den Schlauch mit Wasser und gab dem Knaben zu trinken.
And God openeth her eyes, and she seeth a well of water, and she goeth and filleth the bottle [with] water, and causeth the youth to drink;
20 Und Gott war mit dem Knaben, so daß er heranwuchs; er nahm seinen Aufenthalt in der Wüste und wurde ein gewaltiger Bogenschütze;
and God is with the youth, and he groweth, and dwelleth in the wilderness, and is an archer;
21 und zwar nahm er seinen Aufenthalt in der Wüste Paran, und seine Mutter nahm ihm eine Ägypterin zur Frau.
and he dwelleth in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother taketh for him a wife from the land of Egypt.
22 Zu derselben Zeit hatte Abimelech nebst seinem Heerführer Pichol eine Unterredung mit Abraham und sagte: »Gott ist mit dir in allem, was du unternimmst.
And it cometh to pass at that time that Abimelech speaketh — Phichol also, head of his host — unto Abraham, saying, 'God [is] with thee in all that thou art doing;
23 Darum schwöre mir jetzt hier bei Gott, daß du weder gegen mich noch gegen meine Kinder und Kindeskinder jemals treulos handeln, sondern dieselbe Freundschaft, die ich dir erwiesen habe, auch mir und dem Lande erweisen willst, in welchem du als Fremdling dich aufhältst!«
and now, swear to me by God here: thou dost not lie to me, or to my continuator, or to my successor; according to the kindness which I have done with thee thou dost with me, and with the land in which thou hast sojourned.'
24 Da antwortete Abraham: »Ja, ich will den Schwur leisten.«
And Abraham saith, 'I — I do swear.'
25 Abraham machte aber dem Abimelech Vorhalt wegen des Wasserbrunnens, den die Knechte Abimelechs sich mit Gewalt angeeignet hatten.
And Abraham reasoned with Abimelech concerning the matter of a well of water which Abimelech's servants have taken violently away,
26 Abimelech erwiderte: »Ich weiß nicht, wer das getan hat: weder hast du mir bisher etwas davon mitgeteilt, noch habe ich bis heute etwas davon gehört.«
and Abimelech saith, 'I have not known who hath done this thing, and even thou didst not declare to me, and I also, I have not heard save to-day.'
27 Hierauf nahm Abraham Kleinvieh und Rinder und gab sie dem Abimelech, und sie schlossen beide einen Vertrag miteinander.
And Abraham taketh sheep and oxen, and giveth to Abimelech, and they make, both of them, a covenant;
28 Als nun Abraham noch sieben Schaflämmer abgesondert stellte,
and Abraham setteth seven Lambs of the flock by themselves.
29 fragte Abimelech den Abraham: »Was sollen die sieben Lämmer hier bedeuten, die du besonders gestellt hast?«
And Abimelech saith unto Abraham, 'What [are] they — these seven lambs which thou hast set by themselves?'
30 Er antwortete: »Die sieben Lämmer mußt du von mir annehmen, damit dies mir zum Zeugnis diene, daß ich diesen Brunnen gegraben habe.«
And he saith, 'For — the seven lambs thou dost accept from my hand, so that it becometh a witness for me that I have digged this well;'
31 Darum nennt man jenen Ort »Beerseba«, weil sie beide dort einander geschworen haben.
therefore hath he called that place 'Beer-Sheba,' for there have both of them sworn.
32 Nachdem sie so einen Vertrag zu Beerseba geschlossen hatten, brach Abimelech mit seinem Heerführer Pichol auf, und sie kehrten ins Philisterland zurück.
And they make a covenant in Beer-Sheba, and Abimelech riseth — Phichol also, head of his host — and they turn back unto the land of the Philistines;
33 (Abraham) aber pflanzte eine Tamariske in Beerseba und rief dort den Namen des HERRN, des ewigen Gottes, an.
and [Abraham] planteth a tamarisk in Beer-Sheba, and preacheth there in the name of Jehovah, God age-during;
34 Abraham hielt sich dann noch geraume Zeit als Fremdling im Philisterlande auf.
and Abraham sojourneth in the land of the Philistines many days.
