Esra 7
1 Nach diesen Begebenheiten nun unter der Regierung des Perserkönigs Arthasastha zog Esra, der Sohn Serajas, des Sohnes Asarjas, des Sohnes Hilkias,
And after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra son of Seraiah, son of Azariah, son of Hilkiah,
2 des Sohnes Sallums, des Sohnes Zadoks, des Sohnes Ahitubs,
son of Shallum, son of Zadok, son of Ahitub,
3 des Sohnes Amarjas, des Sohnes Asarjas, des Sohnes Merajoths,
son of Amariah, son of Azariah, son of Meraioth,
4 des Sohnes Serahjas, des Sohnes Ussis, des Sohnes Bukkis,
son of Zerahiah, son of Uzzi, son of Bukki,
5 des Sohnes Abisuas, des Sohnes des Pinehas, des Sohnes Eleasars, des Sohnes des Oberpriesters Aaron –
son of Abishua, son of Phinehas, son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the head priest;
6 eben dieser Esra zog von Babylon herauf. Er war ein Schriftgelehrter, wohlbewandert im mosaischen Gesetz, das der HERR, der Gott Israels, gegeben hatte; und weil die gütige Hand des HERRN, seines Gottes, über ihm waltete, hatte der König ihm alles bewilligt, um was er gebeten hatte.
Ezra himself has come up from Babylon, and he [is] a scribe ready in the Law of Moses, that YHWH God of Israel gave, and the king gives to him—according to the hand of his God YHWH on him—all his request.
7 So zog denn mit ihm ein Teil der Israeliten und der Priester, Leviten, Sänger, Torhüter und Tempelhörigen im siebten Regierungsjahre des Königs Arthasastha nach Jerusalem hinauf;
And there go up of the sons of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
8 und er gelangte nach Jerusalem im fünften Monat dieses siebten Regierungsjahres des Königs.
And he comes to Jerusalem in the fifth month, that [is in] the seventh year of the king,
9 Auf den ersten Tag des ersten Monats nämlich hatte Esra den Aufbruch von Babylon festgesetzt, und am ersten Tage des fünften Monats kam er in Jerusalem an, weil die gütige Hand seines Gottes über ihm waltete;
for on the first of the month he has founded the ascent from Babylon, and on the first of the fifth month he has come to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God on him,
10 denn Esra hatte sein Streben fest darauf gerichtet, das Gesetz des HERRN zu erforschen und durchzuführen und in Israel Satzung und Recht zu lehren.
for Ezra has prepared his heart to seek the Law of YHWH, and to do, and to teach in Israel statute and judgment.
11 Folgendes ist nun die Abschrift des Schreibens, das der König Arthasastha dem schriftgelehrten Priester Esra, der ein Gelehrter in den Worten der Gebote des HERRN und seiner Satzungen für Israel war, mitgegeben hatte:
And this [is] a copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commands of YHWH, and of His statutes on Israel:
12 »Arthasastha, der König der Könige, wünscht dem Priester Esra, der ein vollkommener Gelehrter im Gesetz des Himmelsgottes ist, Heil und so weiter.
“Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, a perfect scribe of the Law of the God of the heavens, and at such a time:
13 Von mir ergeht hiermit der Befehl, daß ein jeder, der in meinem Reiche vom Volk Israel und von seinen Priestern und Leviten gewillt ist, nach Jerusalem zu ziehen, mit dir soll ziehen dürfen,
By me has been made a decree that everyone who is willing, in my kingdom, of the people of Israel and of its priests and Levites, to go to Jerusalem with you, go;
14 weil du ja doch vom Könige und seinen sieben Räten gesandt bist, um über die Verhältnisse in Juda und Jerusalem eine Untersuchung anzustellen auf Grund des Gesetzes deines Gottes, das du in deinen Händen hast,
because that from the king and his seven counselors you are sent, to inquire concerning Judah and concerning Jerusalem, with the Law of God that [is] in your hand,
15 und um das Silber und Gold dorthin zu bringen, welches der König und seine Räte dem Gott Israels, dessen Wohnsitz in Jerusalem ist, als Weihgeschenk gespendet haben
and to carry silver and gold that the king and his counselors willingly offered to the God of Israel, whose dwelling place [is] in Jerusalem,
16 sowie alles Silber und Gold, welches du in der ganzen Landschaft Babylon erhalten wirst, mitsamt den Weihgeschenken des Volkes und der Priester, welche freiwillige Gaben für das Haus ihres Gottes in Jerusalem spenden werden.
and all the silver and gold that you find in all the province of Babylon, with the free-will offerings of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly, for the house of their God that [is] in Jerusalem,
17 Dementsprechend sollst du für dieses Geld gewissenhaft Stiere, Widder und Lämmer nebst den zugehörigen Speisopfern und den erforderlichen Trankopfern kaufen und sollst sie auf dem Altar eures Gotteshauses in Jerusalem darbringen.
therefore you speedily buy with this money, bullocks, rams, lambs, and their presents, and their drink-offerings, and bring them near to the altar of the house of your God that [is] in Jerusalem,
18 Was dann dir und deinen Genossen mit dem übrigen Silber und Gold zu tun gut erscheint, das mögt ihr nach dem Willen eures Gottes tun.
and that which to you and to your brothers is good to do with the rest of the silver and gold, according to the will of your God you do.
19 Ferner sollst du die Geräte, die dir für den Dienst im Hause deines Gottes übergeben werden, vollzählig vor dem Gott zu Jerusalem abliefern.
And the vessels that are given to you, for the service of the house of your God, make perfect before the God of Jerusalem;
20 Und den weiteren Bedarf des Hauses deines Gottes, alle Kosten, deren Bestreitung dir etwa obliegen wird, darfst du aus der königlichen Schatzkammer decken lassen;
and the rest of the necessary things of the house of your God, that it falls to you to give, you give from the treasure-house of the king.
21 es wird nämlich von mir, dem Könige Arthasastha, hiermit allen Schatzmeistern in der Provinz jenseits des Euphrats der Befehl erteilt: Alles, was der Priester Esra, der im Gesetz des Himmelsgottes gelehrte Mann, von euch verlangen wird, soll pünktlich geleistet werden,
And by me—I Artaxerxes the king—is made a decree to all treasurers who [are] beyond the river, that all that Ezra the priest, scribe of the Law of the God of the heavens, asks of you, be done speedily:
22 bis zu hundert Talenten Silber und bis zu hundert Kor Weizen und bis zu hundert Bath Wein und hundert Bath Öl, dazu Salz in unbeschränkter Menge.
To silver one hundred talents, and to wheat one hundred cors, and to wine one hundred baths, and to oil one hundred baths, and salt without reckoning;
23 Alles, was nach dem Befehl des Himmelsgottes erforderlich ist, soll für das Haus des Himmelsgottes sorgfältig geleistet werden, damit nicht etwa ein Zorngericht das Reich des Königs und seiner Söhne trifft.
all that [is] by the decree of the God of the heavens, let be done diligently for the house of the God of the heavens; for why is there wrath against the kingdom of the king and his sons?
24 Weiter sei euch hiermit kundgetan, daß niemand berechtigt sein soll, irgendeinem Priester und Leviten, Sänger, Torhüter, Tempelhörigen, kurz irgendeinem Diener dieses Gotteshauses eine Geldabgabe, eine Steuer oder Zölle aufzuerlegen.
And to you we are making known, that on any of the priests and Levites, singers, gatekeepers, Nethinim, and servants of the house of God, tribute and custom there is no authority to lift up.
25 Du aber, Esra, setze gemäß der Weisheit (des Gesetzes) deines Gottes, das in deinen Händen ist, Richter und Rechtspfleger ein, die dem gesamten Volke in der Provinz jenseits des Euphrats Recht sprechen sollen, nämlich allen denen, welche die Gesetze deines Gottes kennen, und wer sie noch nicht kennt, dem sollt ihr Belehrung zuteil werden lassen!
And you, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God, that [is] in your hand, appoint magistrates—even judges who may be judging—judging all the people who are beyond the river, to all knowing the Law of your God, and he who has not known, you cause to know;
26 Jeder aber, der dem Gesetz deines Gottes und dem Gesetz des Königs nicht nachkommt, gegen den soll gerichtlich mit Strenge vorgegangen werden, es sei mit Todesstrafe oder Verbannung, mit Geldbuße oder Gefängnis!«
and any who does not do the Law of your God, and the law of the king, judgment is done speedily on him, whether to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of riches, and to bonds.”
27 »Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott unserer Väter, der dem Könige den Entschluß ins Herz gegeben hat, das Haus des HERRN in Jerusalem zu verherrlichen,
Blessed [is] YHWH, God of our fathers, who has given such a thing as this in the heart of the king, to beautify the house of YHWH that [is] in Jerusalem,
28 und der mich Gnade bei dem Könige und seinen Räten und bei allen einflußreichen Würdenträgern des Königs hat finden lassen, so daß ich, weil die Hand des HERRN, meines Gottes, schützend über mir waltete, den Mut gewann, Familienhäupter aus Israel um mich zu sammeln, damit sie mit mir nach Jerusalem hinaufzögen!«
and to me has stretched out kindness before the king and his counselors, and before all the mighty heads of the king: and I have strengthened myself as the hand of my God YHWH [is] on me, and I gather out of Israel heads to go up with me.
