Esra 2

1 Folgendes nun sind die Bewohner der Landschaft Juda, die aus der Gefangenschaft der in der Verbannung Lebenden, welche Nebukadnezar, der König von Babylon, (einst) nach Babylon weggeführt hatte, hinaufgezogen sind und (nun) nach Jerusalem und Juda zurückkehrten, ein jeder in seine Ortschaft.

Now these are the people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles carried away to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar its king. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,

58 Die Gesamtzahl der Tempelhörigen und der Nachkommen der Sklaven Salomos betrug 392.

The temple servants and descendants of the servants of Solomon numbered 392 in all.

59 Und dies sind die, welche aus Thel-Melah, Thel-Harsa, Cherub-Addan und Immer mit hinaufzogen, aber ihre Familie und ihre Herkunft nicht nachweisen konnten, ob sie nämlich aus Israel stammten:

The following came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but could not prove that their families were descended from Israel:

60 die Familie Delaja, die Familie Tobija, die Familie Nekoda, 652. –

the descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, and the descendants of Nekoda, 652 in all.

61 Sodann von den Priesterfamilien: die Familie Habaja, die Familie Hakkoz, die Familie jenes Barsillais, der eine Frau von den Töchtern des Gileaditen Barsillai geheiratet und deren Namen angenommen hatte.

And from among the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, and the descendants of Barzillai (who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name).

62 Diese hatten zwar nach ihrer Geschlechtsurkunde gesucht, aber diese hatte sich nicht finden lassen; infolgedessen wurden sie als unrein vom Priestertum ausgeschlossen,

These men searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.

63 und der Statthalter hatte ihnen erklärt, daß sie von dem Hochheiligen nicht essen dürften, bis wieder ein Priester für die Befragung des Urim- und Thummimorakels da wäre.

The governor ordered them not to eat the most holy things until there was a priest to consult the Urim and Thummim.

64 Die ganze Gemeinde insgesamt belief sich auf 42360 Seelen,

The whole assembly numbered 42,360,

65 ungerechnet ihre Sklaven und Sklavinnen, deren 7337 da waren. Dazu kamen noch 200 Sänger und Sängerinnen. –

in addition to their 7,337 menservants and maidservants, as well as their 200 male and female singers.

66 Die Zahl ihrer Pferde betrug 736, ihrer Maultiere 245,

They had 736 horses, 245 mules,

67 ihrer Kamele 435, der Esel 6720.

435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys.

68 Als sie dann beim Tempel des HERRN in Jerusalem angekommen waren, spendeten einige von den Familienhäuptern freiwillige Gaben für das Haus Gottes, damit man es an seiner früheren Stätte wieder aufrichten könne.

When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings to rebuild the house of God on its original site.

69 Nach ihrem Vermögen gaben sie für den Bauschatz: an Gold 61000 Dariken, an Silber 5000 Minen und 100 Priestergewänder.

According to their ability, they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver, and 100 priestly garments.

70 Und es siedelten sich die Priester und die Leviten sowie ein Teil des Volkes in Jerusalem und dessen Gebieten an, die Sänger dagegen und die Torhüter und die Tempelhörigen in ihren Ortschaften, und alle übrigen Israeliten in ihren Ortschaften.

So the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants, along with some of the people, settled in their own towns; and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
