Hesekiel 21
1 Da erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 »Menschensohn, richte deine Blicke auf Jerusalem, predige gegen ihr Heiligtum und weissage gegen das Land Israel!
Therefore prophesy, son of man, set thy face steadfastly toward Jerusalem, and look toward their holy places, and thou shalt prophesy against the land of Israel,
3 Sage zum Lande Israel: ›So hat der HERR gesprochen: Siehe, ich will an dich! Ich will mein Schwert aus der Scheide ziehen und Gerechte wie Gottlose in dir ausrotten!
and thou shalt say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I am against thee, and I will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and I will destroy out of thee the transgressor and unrighteous.
4 Weil ich beide, Gerechte wie Gottlose, in dir ausrotten will, darum soll mein Schwert aus der Scheide fahren gegen alles Fleisch vom Südland bis zum Norden.
Because I will destroy out of thee the unrighteous and the transgressor, [therefore] so shall my sword come forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
5 Dann wird alle Welt erkennen, daß ich, der HERR, mein Schwert aus der Scheide habe herausfahren lassen, und es nicht wieder dahin zurückkehrt.‹«
and all flesh shall know that I the Lord have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath: it shall not return any more.
6 »Du aber, Menschensohn, seufze! Mit zusammenbrechenden Hüften und in bitterem Schmerz seufze vor ihren Augen!
And thou, son of man, groan with the breaking of thy loins; thou shalt even groan heavily in their sight.
7 Wenn sie dich dann fragen, worüber du seufzest, so antworte ihnen: ›Über eine Schreckenskunde! Bei ihrem Eintreffen werden alle Herzen verzagen und alle Arme schlaff herabhängen; aller Mut wird schwinden, und alle Knie werden wie Wasser zerfließen.‹ Fürwahr, es kommt und geht in Erfüllung!« – so lautet der Ausspruch Gottes des HERRN.
And it shall come to pass, if they shall say to thee, Wherefore dost thou groan? that thou shalt say, For the report; because it comes: and every heart shall break, and all hands shall become feeble, and all flesh and every spirit shall faint, and all thighs shall be defiled with moisture: behold, it comes, saith the Lord.
8 Hierauf erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
9 »Menschensohn, verkünde folgende Weissagung: So hat der HERR gesprochen: Sprich zu ihnen: ›Ein Schwert, ein Schwert ist geschärft und auch gefegt;
Son of man, prophesy, and thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord; Say, Sword, sword, be sharpened and rage,
10 um ein Schlachten anzurichten, dazu ist es geschärft: damit es blitzt und blinkt, dazu ist es gefegt. Oder sollen wir uns freuen? Die für meinen Sohn bestimmte Rute verachtet alles Holz.
that thou mayest slay victims; be sharpened that thou mayest be bright, ready for slaughter, slay, set at nought, despise every tree.
11 Er hat es zum Fegen hingegeben, um es in die Hand zu nehmen; es ist geschärft worden, das Schwert, und gefegt, damit man es dem Würger in die Hand gebe.‹
And he made it ready for his hand to hold: the sword is sharpened, it is ready to put into the hand of the slayer.
12 Schreie und wehklage, Menschensohn! Denn dieses Schwert richtet sich gegen mein Volk, richtet sich gegen alle Fürsten Israels: dem Schwert verfallen sind sie samt meinem Volk! Darum schlage dich auf die Hüften,
Cry out and howl, son of man: for this [sword] is come upon my people, this [sword is come] upon all the princes of Israel: they shall be as strangers: [judgment] with the sword is come upon my people: therefore clap thine hands, for sentence has been passed:
13 denn die Probe ist gemacht! Aber wie, wenn die Rute selber (das Dreinhauen) verschmäht? Es soll nicht geschehen!« – lautet der Ausspruch Gottes des HERRN.
and what if even the tribe be rejected? it shall not be, saith the Lord God.
14 »Du aber, Menschensohn, weissage und schlage die Hände zusammen! Denn das Schwert wird zweifach, ja dreifach kommen. Ein Mordschwert ist es, ein großes Mordschwert, das sie umkreisen soll,
And thou, son of man, prophesy, and clap thine hands, and take a second sword: the third sword is [the sword] of the slain, the great sword of the slain: and thou shalt strike them with amazement, lest the heart should faint
15 damit ihre Herzen verzagen und viele tot hinstürzen an all ihren Toren. Ich lasse blinken das Schwert. Wehe! Zum Blitzen ist es gefertigt, zum Schlachten geschärft!
and the weak ones be multiplied at every gate—they are given up to the slaughter of the sword: it is well fitted for slaughter, it is well fitted for glittering.
16 Setze in Schrecken, fahre nach rechts, kehre dich nach links, wohin eben deine Schneide gerichtet ist!
And do thou go on, sharpen thyself on the right and on the left whithersoever thy face may set itself.
17 So will denn auch ich meine Hände zusammenschlagen und meinem Zorn freien Lauf lassen: ich, der HERR, habe es gesprochen!«
And I also will clap my hands, and let loose my fury: I the Lord have spoken [it].
18 Darauf erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
19 »Du aber, Menschensohn, stelle dir zwei Wege dar, auf denen das Schwert des Königs von Babylon kommen soll: von einem Lande sollen sie beide ausgehen. Dann stelle einen Wegweiser auf am Anfang des Weges nach der einen wie nach der anderen Stadt,
and thou, son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may enter in: the two shall go forth of one country; and [there shall be] a force at the top of the way of the city, thou shalt set [it] at the top of the way,
20 damit das Schwert sowohl über Rabbath im Ammoniterlande als auch über Juda und Jerusalem in dessen Mitte kommen kann.
that the sword may enter in upon Rabbath of the children of Ammon, and upon Judea, and upon Jerusalem in the midst thereof.
21 Denn der König von Babylon steht am Scheidewege, am Anfang der beiden Wege, um eine Offenbarung zu erhalten: er schüttelt die Pfeile, befragt die Hausgötter und beschaut die Leber.
For the king of Babylon shall stand on the old way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination, to make bright the arrow, and to enquire of the graven images, and to examine [the victims].
22 In seiner Rechten ist das Los ›Jerusalem‹, daß er den Mund auftue zum Kriegsgeschrei, lauten Schlachtruf erschallen lasse, Sturmböcke gegen die Tore aufstelle, einen Wall aufschütte und Belagerungstürme baue.
On his right was the divination against Jerusalem, to cast a mound, to open the mouth in shouting, to lift up the voice with crying, to cast a mound against her gates, to cast up a heap, and to build forts.
23 Freilich scheint das ihnen eine trügerische Wahrsagung zu sein, da sie ja die feierlichsten Eide geschworen haben; doch er bringt ihre Verschuldung (bei sich) in Erinnerung, damit sie gefangen werden.«
And he was to them as one using divination before them, and he himself recounting his iniquities, that they might be borne in mind.
24 Darum hat Gott der HERR so gesprochen: »Weil ihr mich an eure Verschuldung erinnert habt dadurch, daß eure Übertretungen aufgedeckt worden sind, so daß eure Sünden in all eurem Tun klar zu Tage liegen – ja, weil ihr euch so in Erinnerung gebracht habt, sollt ihr um ihretwillen ergriffen werden.
Therefore thus saith the Lord, Because ye have caused your iniquities to be remembered, in the discovery of your wickedness, so that your sins should be seen, in all your wickedness and in your [evil] practices; because ye have caused remembrance [of them], in these shall ye be taken.
25 Du aber, verruchter Frevler, Fürst Israels, dessen Tag gekommen ist zur Zeit, wo seine Schuld endgültig gebüßt wird –
And thou profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day, [even] an end, is come in a sea of iniquity, thus saith the Lord;
26 so hat Gott der HERR gesprochen: ›Hinweg mit der Königsbinde! Herunter mit der Krone! Das bleibt nicht so, wie es jetzt ist! Das Niedrige soll erhöht werden, und das Hohe muß herunter!
Thou hast taken off the mitre and put on the crown, it shall not have such [another] after it: thou hast abased that which was high, and exalted that which was low.
27 Zu Trümmern, Trümmern, Trümmern will ich (alles) machen! Wehe ihm! So soll es bleiben, bis der kommt, der das Anrecht darauf hat: dem will ich es übergeben.‹«
Injustice, injustice, injustice, will I make it: woe to it: such shall it be until he comes to whom it belongs; and I will deliver [it] to him.
28 »Du aber, Menschensohn, verkünde folgende Weissagung: So hat Gott der HERR in betreff der Ammoniter und in betreff ihrer Hohnreden gesprochen! Verkünde: ›Ein Schwert, ein Schwert ist gezückt zum Schlachten, ist gefegt zum Blinken, damit es blitze –
And thou, son of man, prophesy, and thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord, concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and thou shalt say, O sword, sword, drawn for slaughter, and drawn for destruction, awake, that thou mayest gleam.
29 während man dich durch nichtige Gesichte getäuscht und dir Lügen gewahrsagt hat –, um es verruchten Frevlern an den Hals zu setzen, deren Tag kommt zu der Zeit, wo ihre Schuld endgültig gebüßt wird.
While thou art seeing vain [visions], and while thou art prophesying falsehoods, to bring thyself upon the necks of ungodly transgressors, the day is come, [even] an end, in a season of iniquity.
30 Stecke das Schwert wieder in seine Scheide! An dem Orte, wo du geschaffen bist, im Lande, aus dem du stammst, will ich dich richten
Turn, rest not in this place wherein thou wert born: in thine own land will I judge thee.
31 und will meinen Zorn sich über dich ergießen lassen, das Feuer meines Ingrimms gegen dich anfachen und dich der Gewalt tierischer Menschen preisgeben, die Verderben (für dich) schmieden.
And I will pour out my wrath upon thee, I will blow upon thee with the fire of my wrath, and I will deliver thee into the hands of barbarians skilled in working destruction.
32 Dem Feuer sollst du zum Fraß dienen, dein Blut soll inmitten deines Landes vergossen liegen, deiner soll nicht mehr gedacht werden; denn ich, der HERR, habe gesprochen!‹«
Thou shalt be fuel for fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of thy land; there shall be no remembrance at all of thee: for I the Lord have spoken [it].
