2 Mose 18

1 Jethro aber, der Priester der Midianiter, der Schwiegervater Moses, hatte alles erfahren, was Gott an Mose und an seinem Volke Israel getan hatte, daß der HERR nämlich die Israeliten aus Ägypten weggeführt hatte.

and to hear: hear Jethro priest Midian relative Moses [obj] all which to make: do God to/for Moses and to/for Israel people his for to come out: send LORD [obj] Israel from Egypt

2 Da nahm Jethro, der Schwiegervater Moses, Zippora, Moses Frau, die dieser zurückgesandt hatte,

and to take: take Jethro relative Moses [obj] Zipporah woman: wife Moses after parting gift her

3 samt ihren beiden Söhnen, von denen der eine Gersom hieß, weil Mose gesagt hatte: »Ein Gast bin ich in einem fremden Lande geworden«,

and [obj] two son: child her which name [the] one Gershom for to say sojourner to be in/on/with land: country/planet foreign

4 während der andere Elieser hieß, denn »der Gott meines Vaters ist meine Hilfe gewesen und hat mich vor dem Schwert des Pharaos errettet« –

and name [the] one Eliezer for God father my in/on/with helper my and to rescue me from sword Pharaoh

5 Jethro also, der Schwiegervater Moses, kam mit den Söhnen Moses und dessen Frau zu Mose in die Wüste, wo jener sich am Berge Gottes gelagert hatte,

and to come (in): come Jethro relative Moses and son: child his and woman: wife his to(wards) Moses to(wards) [the] wilderness which he/she/it to camp there mountain: mount [the] God

6 und ließ dem Mose sagen: »Ich, dein Schwiegervater Jethro, komme zu dir mit deiner Frau und ihren beiden Söhnen, die bei ihr sind.«

and to say to(wards) Moses I relative your Jethro to come (in): come to(wards) you and woman: wife your and two son: child her with her

7 Da ging Mose seinem Schwiegervater entgegen, verneigte sich vor ihm, und (jener) küßte ihn; nachdem sie dann einander begrüßt hatten, traten sie in das Zelt ein.

and to come out: come Moses to/for to encounter: meet relative his and to bow and to kiss to/for him and to ask man: anyone to/for neighbor his to/for peace: well-being and to come (in): come [the] tent [to]

8 Hierauf erzählte Mose seinem Schwiegervater alles, was der HERR am Pharao und an den Ägyptern um der Israeliten willen getan hatte, und alle die Leiden, die ihnen unterwegs zugestoßen waren, und wie der HERR sie errettet hatte.

and to recount Moses to/for relative his [obj] all which to make: do LORD to/for Pharaoh and to/for Egypt upon because Israel [obj] all [the] hardship which to find them in/on/with way: journey and to rescue them LORD

9 Da freute sich Jethro über alles Gute, das der HERR den Israeliten erwiesen hatte, indem er sie aus der Gewalt der Ägypter errettete.

and to rejoice Jethro upon all [the] welfare which to make: do LORD to/for Israel which to rescue him from hand: power Egypt

10 Und Jethro rief aus: »Gepriesen sei der HERR, der euch aus der Gewalt der Ägypter und aus der Gewalt des Pharaos errettet und der das Volk aus der Gewaltherrschaft der Ägypter befreit hat!

and to say Jethro to bless LORD which to rescue [obj] you from hand: owner Egypt and from hand: owner Pharaoh which to rescue [obj] [the] people from underneath: owning hand: owner Egypt

11 Nun erkenne ich, daß der HERR größer ist als alle Götter; er hat es bewiesen, als (jene) sich übermütig gegen sie benahmen.«

now to know for great: large LORD from all [the] God for in/on/with word: because which to boil upon them

12 Darauf ließ Jethro, Moses Schwiegervater, Tiere zu einem Brand- und Schlachtopfer für Gott herbeibringen, und Aaron nebst allen Ältesten der Israeliten kam herbei, um mit dem Schwiegervater Moses das Opfermahl vor Gott zu halten.

and to take: bring Jethro relative Moses burnt offering and sacrifice to/for God and to come (in): come Aaron and all old: elder Israel to/for to eat food: bread with relative Moses to/for face: before [the] God

13 Am folgenden Tage aber hielt Mose eine Gerichtssitzung ab, um dem Volke Recht zu sprechen; und das Volk stand vor Mose vom Morgen bis zum Abend.

and to be from morrow and to dwell Moses to/for to judge [obj] [the] people and to stand: stand [the] people upon Moses from [the] morning till [the] evening

14 Als nun der Schwiegervater Moses sah, was er alles mit dem Volk zu tun hatte, sagte er: »Was machst du dir da mit dem Volk so viel zu schaffen? Warum sitzest du allein zu Gericht, während das ganze Volk vom Morgen bis zum Abend vor dir steht?«

and to see: see relative Moses [obj] all which he/she/it to make: do to/for people and to say what? [the] word: thing [the] this which you(m. s.) to make: do to/for people why? you(m. s.) to dwell to/for alone you and all [the] people to stand upon you from morning till evening

15 Mose antwortete seinem Schwiegervater: »Ja, das Volk kommt zu mir, um Gott zu befragen;

and to say Moses to/for relative his for to come (in): come to(wards) me [the] people to/for to seek God

16 sooft sie einen Rechtshandel haben, kommen sie zu mir, damit ich Schiedsrichter zwischen den Parteien sei und ihnen Gottes Rechtssprüche und Entscheidungen kundtue.«

for to be to/for them word: case to come (in): come to(wards) me and to judge between man: anyone and between neighbor his and to know [obj] statute: decree [the] God and [obj] instruction his

17 Da sagte sein Schwiegervater zu ihm: »Dein Verfahren ist nicht zweckmäßig;

and to say relative Moses to(wards) him not pleasant [the] word: thing which you(m. s.) to make: do

18 dabei mußt du selbst und ebenso auch diese Leute, die bei dir stehen, ganz erschöpft werden; denn die Sache ist zu schwer für dich, und du allein kannst sie nicht durchführen.

to wither to wither also you(m. s.) also [the] people [the] this which with you for heavy from you [the] word: thing not be able to make: do him to/for alone you

19 Nun höre mich an: ich will dir einen Rat geben, und Gott möge mit dir sein! Sei du der Vertreter des Volkes Gott gegenüber und bringe du ihre Anliegen vor Gott!

now to hear: obey in/on/with voice my to advise you and to be God with you to be you(m. s.) to/for people opposite [the] God and to come (in): bring you(m. s.) [obj] [the] word: case to(wards) [the] God

20 Mache ihnen daneben die Rechtssprüche und Entscheidungen klar und gib ihnen den Weg an, den sie innezuhalten haben, und das Verfahren, das sie beobachten müssen.

and to warn [obj] them [obj] [the] statute: decree and [obj] [the] instruction and to know to/for them [obj] [the] way: conduct to go: walk in/on/with her and [obj] [the] deed: work which to make: do [emph?]

21 Zugleich sieh dich aber unter dem ganzen Volke nach tüchtigen, gottesfürchtigen und zuverlässigen Männern um, die keiner Bestechung zugänglich sind, und setze diese als Obmänner über sie, die einen über tausend, andere über hundert, andere über fünfzig und andere über zehn,

and you(m. s.) to see from all [the] people human strength afraid God human truth: faithful to hate unjust-gain and to set: put upon them ruler thousand ruler hundred ruler fifty and ruler ten

22 damit sie dem Volke jederzeit Recht sprechen, und zwar so, daß sie alle wichtigen Sachen vor dich bringen, alle geringfügigen Sachen aber selbst entscheiden! Auf diese Weise verschaffe dir Erleichterung und laß sie die Last mit dir tragen!

and to judge [obj] [the] people in/on/with all time and to be all [the] word: thing [the] great: large to come (in): bring to(wards) you and all [the] word: thing [the] small to judge they(masc.) and to lighten from upon you and to lift: bear with you

23 Wenn du es so machst und Gott es dir gestattet, so wirst du dabei bestehen können, und auch alle diese Leute werden befriedigt nach Hause zurückkehren.«

if [obj] [the] word: thing [the] this to make: do and to command you God and be able to stand: stand and also all [the] people [the] this upon place his to come (in): come in/on/with peace

24 Mose befolgte den Rat seines Schwiegervaters und tat alles, was er ihm vorgeschlagen hatte:

and to hear: hear Moses to/for voice relative his and to make: do all which to say

25 er wählte tüchtige Männer aus allen Israeliten aus und setzte sie zu Obmännern über das Volk ein, die einen über tausend, andere über hundert, andere über fünfzig und über zehn.

and to choose Moses human strength from all Israel and to give: make [obj] them head: leader upon [the] people ruler thousand ruler hundred ruler fifty and ruler ten

26 Diese hatten dem Volk zu jeder Zeit Recht zu sprechen: die schwierigen Sachen legten sie dem Mose vor, aber alle geringfügigen Sachen entschieden sie selbst.

and to judge [obj] [the] people in/on/with all time [obj] [the] word: case [the] severe to come (in): bring [emph?] to(wards) Moses and all [the] word: case [the] small to judge they(masc.)

27 Hierauf ließ Mose seinen Schwiegervater ziehen, und dieser kehrte in sein Land zurück.

and to send: depart Moses [obj] relative his and to go: went to/for him to(wards) land: country/planet his
