Prediger 2
1 Da dachte ich bei mir in meinem Herzen: »Wohlan denn, ich will es einmal mit der Freude und dem Lebensgenuß versuchen!« Aber siehe, auch das war nichtig.
I said I in heart my come! please let me put to [the] test you with pleasure and look on good and there! also it [was] futility.
2 Vom Lachen mußte ich sagen: »Unsinn ist das!« und von der Freude: »Wozu soll die dienen?«
Of laughter I said [it is] folly and of pleasure what? this [is it] doing.
3 Ich faßte den Entschluß, meinem Leibe mit Wein gütlich zu tun – allerdings so, daß mein Verstand die Leitung mit Besonnenheit behielte – und mich an die Torheit zu halten, bis ich sähe, was für die Menschenkinder das Beste sei, daß sie es täten unter dem Himmel während der ganzen Dauer ihres Lebens.
I searched in heart my to gratify with wine flesh my and heart my [was] guiding with wisdom and to take hold on folly until that I saw where? this [is] good for [the] children of humankind which they will do under the heavens [the] number of [the] days of lives their.
4 Ich unternahm große Werke: ich baute mir Häuser, pflanzte mir Weinberge,
I made great works my I built for myself houses I planted for myself vineyards.
5 legte mir Gärten und Parke an und pflanzte darin Fruchtbäume jeder Art;
I made for myself gardens and parks and I planted in them tree[s] of every fruit.
6 ich legte mir Wasserteiche an, um aus ihnen den Wald mit seinem üppigen Baumwuchs zu bewässern;
I made for myself pools of water to water from them a forest sprouting of trees.
7 ich kaufte Knechte und Mägde, hatte auch Gesinde, das in meinem Hause geboren war, und besaß auch große Herden von Rindern und Kleinvieh, größere als irgend jemand vor mir sie in Jerusalem besessen hatte.
I acquired [male] slaves and female slaves and sons of house he belonged to me also livestock herd[s] and flock[s] [surely] a multitude belonged to me more than all who were before me in Jerusalem.
8 Ich häufte mir auch Silber und Gold an, die Schätze von Königen und Ländern, schaffte mir Sänger und Sängerinnen an und, was die Hauptlust der Menschen ist: Frauen über Frauen.
I gathered for myself also silver and gold and treasure of kings and provinces I acquired for myself male singers and female singers and [the] delights of [the] children of humankind breast and breasts.
9 So stand ich groß da und tat es allen zuvor, die vor mir in Jersualem gelebt hatten; dabei war mir auch meine Weisheit verblieben.
And I became great and I increased more than any who was before me in Jerusalem also wisdom my it remained to me.
10 Nichts von allem, wonach meine Augen Verlangen trugen, versagte ich ihnen, keinen Wunsch ließ ich meinem Herzen unerfüllt; denn mein Herz sollte Freude haben von all meinem Schaffen, und das sollte mir der Lohn für alle meine Mühe sein.
And all that they asked eyes my not I withheld from them not I restrained heart my from any pleasure for heart my [was] joyful from all toil my and this it was reward my from all toil my.
11 Doch als ich nun alle Werke prüfend betrachtete, die meine Hände geschaffen, und die Mühe erwog, die ich auf ihre Ausführung verwandt hatte: ach, da war das alles nichtig und ein Haschen nach Wind, und es kommt nirgends ein Gewinn heraus unter der Sonne.
And I turned I on all works my that had done hands my and on the toil that I had toiled to do and there! everything [was] futility and striving of wind and there not [was] profit under the sun.
12 b Denn was wird der Mensch tun, der nach mir, dem Könige, kommen wird? Dasselbe, was man immer schon getan hat. a Hierauf wandte ich mich dazu, den Wert der Weisheit neben der Torheit und dem Unverstand festzustellen.
And I turned I to consider wisdom and madness and folly for - what? [is] the person who will come after the king [that] which already people have done it.
13 Da sah ich denn ein, daß die Weisheit einen Vorzug vor der Torheit hat, wie das Licht einen Vorzug vor der Finsternis besitzt;
And I saw I that there [is] advantage of wisdom more than folly like [the] advantage of light more than darkness.
14 der Weise hat ja Augen im Kopf, während der Tor im Finstern wandelt. Zugleich erkannte ich aber auch, daß das gleiche Geschick alle (beide) trifft.
The wise [person] eyes his [are] in head his and the fool in darkness [is] walking and I knew also I that fate one it will happen to all of them.
15 Da dachte ich bei mir in meinem Herzen: »Wenn mich dasselbe Geschick trifft wie den Toren, wozu bin ich dann so besonders weise gewesen?« So mußte ich mir denn sagen, daß auch dies nichtig sei.
And I said I in heart my like [the] fate of the fool also me it will happen to me and why? have I become wise I then excessively and I said in heart my that also this [is] futility.
16 Denn der Weise hinterläßt ebensowenig wie der Tor ein ewiges Gedenken, weil ja in den künftigen Tagen alles längst vergessen sein wird; ach ja, wie stirbt doch der Weise samt dem Toren dahin!
For there not [is] remembrance of the wise man with the fool for a long time in that already the days coming everything it has been forgotten and how! he will die the wise [person] with the fool.
17 So wurde mir denn das Leben verhaßt, denn mir mißfiel alles Tun, das unter der Sonne stattfindet; alles ist ja nichtig und ein Haschen nach Wind!
And I hated life for [was] evil on me the work that was done under the sun for everything [is] futility and striving of wind.
18 Da wurde mir alles Bemühen, das ich bis dahin unter der Sonne aufgewandt hatte, verleidet, weil ich ja das durch meine Mühe Geschaffene einem (andern) überlassen muß, der mein Nachfolger sein wird;
And I hated I all toil my that I [was] a laborer under the sun that I will leave it to the person who will be after me.
19 und wer kann wissen, ob der weise sein wird oder ein Tor? Und doch wird er schalten und walten über alle meine Mühe, über das, was ich durch meine Weisheit unter der Sonne zustande gebracht habe. Auch das ist nichtig.
And who? [is] knowing ¿ a wise [person] will he be or? a fool so he may have power over all toil my that I have toiled and that I worked skillfully under the sun also this [is] futility.
20 So kam es denn mit mir dahin, daß ich mich der Verzweiflung überließ wegen all der Mühe, die ich unter der Sonne aufgewandt hatte.
And I turned I to make despair heart my on all the toil that I have toiled under the sun.
21 Denn es kommt vor, daß ein Mensch sich mit Weisheit, Einsicht und Tüchtigkeit abgemüht hat und dann den Ertrag seiner Arbeit einem (andern) überlassen muß, der sich gar nicht darum gemüht hat. Auch das ist nichtig und ein großer Übelstand.
If there [was] a person who toil his [was] with wisdom and with knowledge and with skill and to a person who not he toiled in it he will give it portion his also this [is] futility and an evil great.
22 Denn welchen Nutzen hat der Mensch von all seiner Mühe und von dem Streben seines Geistes, womit er sich unter der Sonne abmüht,
For what? [is] becoming to the person in all toil his and in [the] striving of heart his that he [was] a laborer under the sun.
23 wenn alle seine Tage leidvoll sind und Widerwärtigkeit sein ganzes Schaffen und nicht einmal bei Nacht sein Geist Ruhe findet? Auch das ist nichtig.
For all days his [are] pains and [is] vexation task his also in the night not it rests heart his also this [is] futility it.
24 So gibt es denn für den Menschen nichts Besseres, als daß er ißt und trinkt und sein Herz bei seiner Mühsal guter Dinge sein läßt. Freilich habe ich erkannt, daß auch dies von der Hand Gottes abhängt;
There not [is] good for person that he will eat and he will drink and he will show self his good in toil his also this I have seen I that [is] from [the] hand of God it.
25 denn wer kann essen und wer genießen ohne sein Zutun?
For who? will he eat and who? will he enjoy outside from me.
26 Denn einem Menschen, der ihm wohlgefällt, gibt Gott Weisheit, Einsicht und Freude, dem Sünder aber gibt er das leidige Geschäft, zu sammeln und zusammenzuscharren, um es hernach dem zu überlassen, der Gott wohlgefällig ist. Auch das ist nichtig und ein Haschen nach Wind.
For to anyone who [is] good before him he gives wisdom and knowledge and joy and to the sinner he gives a task to gather and to collect to give [it] to a [person] good before God also this [is] futility and striving of wind.
