1 »Beobachte den Monat Abib und feiere das Passah zu Ehren des HERRN, deines Gottes; denn im Monat Abib hat der HERR, dein Gott, dich bei Nacht aus Ägypten hinausgeführt.

Observe the month of Abib, when thou shalt keep a passover unto Yahweh thy God, —for in the month of Abib, did Yahweh thy God bring thee forth out of Egypt by night:

2 Du sollst dann für den HERRN, deinen Gott, als Passahopfer Kleinvieh und Rinder an der Stätte schlachten, die der HERR erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen.

therefore shalt thou sacrifice a passover unto Yahweh thy God of flock or herd, —in the place which Yahweh shall choose to make a habitation for his name there.

3 Du darfst nichts Gesäuertes dazu essen: sieben Tage lang sollst du ungesäuertes Brot als ›Elendskost‹ dazu genießen – denn in ängstlicher Eile bist du aus dem Lande Ägypten weggezogen –, damit du an den Tag deines Auszugs aus dem Lande Ägypten zurückdenkst, solange du lebst.

Thou shalt not eat therewith any thing leavened, seven days, shalt thou eat therewith unleavened cakes the bread of humiliation, —for in haste, camest thou forth out of the land of Egypt, that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt, all the days of thy life.

4 Sieben Tage lang darf bei dir kein Sauerteig in deinem ganzen Gebiet zu finden sein, und von dem Fleisch, das du am Abend des ersten Tages schlachtest, darf nichts über Nacht bis zum folgenden Morgen übrigbleiben.

And there shall not be seen with thee leaven in any of thy bounds seven days, —neither shall there remain all night of the flesh which thou shalt sacrifice in the evening, on the first day, unto the morning.

5 Du darfst das Passah nicht in irgendeinem deiner Wohnorte schlachten, die der HERR, dein Gott, dir gibt,

Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover, —within any of thine own gates which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee;

6 sondern an der Stätte, die der HERR, dein Gott, erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen: dort sollst du das Passah abends bei Sonnenuntergang zu der Zeit deines Auszugs aus Ägypten schlachten

but in the place which Yahweh thy God shall choose to make a habitation for his name, there, shalt thou sacrifice the passover in the evening, —at the going in of the sun, at the very time thou camest forth out of Egypt.

7 und sollst es kochen und essen an der Stätte, die der HERR, dein Gott, erwählen wird; am folgenden Morgen aber sollst du umkehren und zu deinen Zelten zurückkehren.

Therefore shalt thou cook and eat it in the place which Yahweh thy God, shall choose, —and shalt turn away in the morning, and go thy way unto thy tents.

8 Nachdem du dann sechs Tage lang ungesäuerte Brote gegessen hast, findet am siebten Tage eine Festversammlung zu Ehren des HERRN, deines Gottes, statt; da darfst du keine Arbeit verrichten.

Six days, shalt thou eat unleavened cakes, —and, on the seventh day, shall be a closing feast, unto Yahweh thy God, thou shalt do no work.

9 Sieben Wochen sollst du dir abzählen: von da an, wo man die Sichel zuerst an die Saat legt, sollst du anfangen, sieben Wochen zu zählen,

Seven weeks, shalt thou count unto thee, —from the beginning of thrusting in the sickle into the standing corn, shalt thou begin to count, seven weeks.

10 und sollst dann das Wochenfest zu Ehren des HERRN, deines Gottes, nach Maßgabe der freiwilligen Gaben feiern, die du von deinem Besitz darbringen wirst, je nachdem der HERR, dein Gott, dich segnet;

So shalt thou keep the festival of weeks unto Yahweh thy God, in the measure of the freewill offering of thy hand which thou shalt give, —as Yahweh thy God shall bless thee.

11 und du sollst mit deinen Söhnen und Töchtern, deinen Knechten und Mägden und den Leviten, die in deinen Wohnorten leben, und den Fremdlingen, den Waisen und Witwen, die bei dir wohnen, vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, fröhlich sein an der Stätte, die der HERR, dein Gott, erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen.

So shalt thou rejoice before Yahweh thy God—thou, and thy son and thy daughter and thy servant and thy handmaid, and the Levite who is within thy gates, and the sojourner, and the fatherless and the widow who are in thy midst, —in the place which Yahweh thy God shall choose, to make a habitation for his name there.

12 Dabei sollst du daran gedenken, daß du (einst) ein Knecht in Ägypten gewesen bist, und sollst diese Satzungen gewissenhaft beobachten.

So shalt thou remember that a servant, thou wast in Egypt, —and shalt observe and do these statutes.

13 Das Laubhüttenfest sollst du sieben Tage lang, wenn du die Obstlese hältst, von dem Ertrag deiner Tenne und Kelter feiern

The festival of booths, shalt thou keep for thyself seven days, —when thou hast gathered in out of thy threshing-floor and out of thy wine-vat.

14 und sollst an diesem deinem Feste mit deinen Söhnen und Töchtern, deinen Knechten und Mägden und den Leviten, sowie mit den Fremdlingen, den Waisen und Witwen, die in deinen Wohnorten leben, fröhlich sein:

And thou shalt rejoice in thy festival, —thou, and thy son and thy daughter, and thy servant and thy handmaid, and the Levite and the sojourner, and the fatherless and the widow, who are within thy gates.

15 sieben Tage lang sollst du das Fest zu Ehren des HERRN, deines Gottes, an der Stätte feiern, die der HERR erwählen wird; denn der HERR wird dich bei deinem ganzen Ernteertrag und bei der ganzen Arbeit deiner Hände segnen; darum sollst du dich durchaus der Freude hingeben!«

Seven days, shalt thou keep festival unto Yahweh thy God, in the place which Yahweh shall choose, —for Yahweh thy God, will bless thee, in all thine increase and in all the work of thy hands, —therefore shalt thou do nothing but, rejoice.

16 »Dreimal im Jahr sollen alle Personen männlichen Geschlechts bei dir vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, an der Stätte erscheinen, die er erwählen wird, nämlich am Fest der ungesäuerten Brote, am Wochenfest und am Laubhüttenfest. Man soll aber vor dem HERRN nicht mit leeren Händen erscheinen,

Three times in the year, shall each one of thy males see the face of Yahweh thy God, in the place which he shall choose, at the festival of unleavened cakes and at the festival of weeks and at the festival of booths, —and none shall see the face of Yahweh empty-handed:

17 sondern jeder mit dem, was er zu geben vermag nach Maßgabe des Segens, den der HERR, dein Gott, dir beschert hat.«

every man according as his hand can give, —according to the blessing of Yahweh thy God, which he hath bestowed upon thee.

18 »Richter und Obmänner sollst du dir in allen deinen Ortschaften, die der HERR, dein Gott, dir in jedem deiner Stämme gibt, einsetzen, damit sie dem Volke mit Gerechtigkeit Recht sprechen.

Judges and officers, shalt thou appoint thee in all thy gates, which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee, by thy tribes, —and they shall judge the people, with righteous judgment,

19 Du darfst das Recht nicht beugen, darfst die Person nicht ansehen und Geschenke nicht annehmen; denn Geschenke machen die Augen der Weisesten blind und bringen die Sache derer, die im Recht sind, zu Fall.

Thou shalt not wrest judgment, thou shalt not take note of faces, —nor shalt thou accept a bribe, for the bribe, blindeth the eyes of wise men, and perverteth the words of righteous men.

20 Der Gerechtigkeit allein sollst du die Ehre geben, damit du am Leben bleibst und das Land im Besitz behältst, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir geben wird.«

What is right, what is right, shalt thou pursue, —that thou mayest live and possess the land, which, Yahweh thy God, is giving unto thee.

21 »Du sollst dir neben dem Altar, den du dir für den HERRN, deinen Gott, errichten wirst, keinen Baumstamm irgendwelcher Art als Götzenbaum pflanzen

Thou shalt not plant thee, as a sacred stem, any tree, —near unto the altar of Yahweh thy God which thou shalt make for thyself;

22 und dir keinen Malstein aufstellen, weil der HERR, dein Gott, ihn haßt.-

neither shalt thou set thee up a pillar, —which Yahweh thy God, doth hate.
