Apostelgeschichte 11
1 Es erhielten aber die Apostel und die Brüder in Judäa Kunde davon, daß auch die Heiden das Wort Gottes angenommen hätten.
Now the Apostles and the brethren who were throughout Judaea heard that, the nations also, had welcomed the word of God.
2 Als daher Petrus nach Jerusalem zurückgekehrt war, stellten die Gläubigen jüdischer Herkunft ihn zur Rede
And, when Peter came up unto Jerusalem, they of the circumcision began to find fault with him,
3 und hielten ihm vor: »Du bist bei Nichtjuden eingekehrt und hast mit ihnen gegessen!«
Saying—he went in unto men uncircumcised, and did eat with them.
4 Da legte Petrus ihnen im einzelnen dar, wie sich alles von Anfang an zugetragen hatte, und berichtete:
But Peter, making a beginning, went on to set forth the matter unto them in order, saying—
5 »Ich befand mich in der Stadt Joppe im Gebet; da sah ich im Zustande der Verzückung ein Gesicht: ein Behälter kam herab wie ein großes Stück Leinwand, das an den vier Zipfeln vom Himmel herabgelassen wurde und bis zu mir kam.
I was in the city of Joppa praying, and saw in a trance, a vision: —coming down a sort of vessel, like a large sheet, by four corners, being let down out of heaven, and it came even unto me:
6 Als ich dann hineinschaute und es mir genau ansah, erblickte ich darin die vierfüßigen Tiere der Erde, auch die wilden, und die kriechenden Tiere und die Vögel des Himmels.
Into which steadfastly looking, began to observe, and saw the quadrupeds of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the birds of heaven.
7 Zugleich vernahm ich auch eine Stimme, die mir zurief: ›Stehe auf, Petrus, schlachte und iß!‹
Moreover heard a voice also, saying unto me—Rise, Peter! slay and eat.
8 Ich erwiderte darauf: ›Nicht doch, Herr! Denn noch nie ist etwas Unheiliges und Unreines in meinen Mund gekommen.‹
But I said—By no means, Lord, because, a common or unclean thing, hath at no time entered into my mouth.
9 Aber eine Stimme erscholl zum zweitenmal vom Himmel her: ›Was Gott gereinigt hat, das erkläre du nicht für unrein!‹
And a voice answered, a second time, out of heaven—What things, God, hath cleansed, be not, thou, making common.
10 Dies wiederholte sich bis zum drittenmal; dann wurde alles wieder in den Himmel hinaufgezogen.
And, this, took place thrice, —and the whole was drawn up again into heaven;
11 Und seht, sogleich standen vor dem Hause, in dem wir waren, drei Männer, die aus Cäsarea zu mir gesandt waren;
And lo! immediately, three men halted at the house wherein we were, sent from Caesarea unto me.
12 und der Geist gebot mir, ohne alles Bedenken mit ihnen zu gehen. Es begleiteten mich aber auch diese sechs Brüder hier, und wir traten in das Haus des Mannes ein.
And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. And there went with me these six brethren also; and we entered into the house of the man,
13 Der berichtete uns nun, wie er den Engel in seinem Hause gesehen habe, der dagestanden und gesagt hätte: ›Sende nach Joppe und laß Simon mit dem Beinamen Petrus holen;
And he related to us how he had seen the messenger in his house, standing, and saying—Send away unto Joppa, and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter;
14 der wird Worte zu dir reden, durch die du mit deinem ganzen Hause gerettet werden wirst.‹
Who shall speak words unto thee, whereby thou shall be saved, thou, and all thy house.
15 Während ich dann zu reden begann, fiel der heilige Geist auf sie ebenso wie auch auf uns im Anfang.
And, as I began to be speaking, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as upon us also at the beginning.
16 Da gedachte ich an das Wort des Herrn, wie er sagte: ›Johannes hat mit Wasser getauft, ihr aber werdet mit heiligem Geist getauft werden.‹
And I was put in mind of the word of the Lord, how he used to say—John, indeed, immersed with water; but, ye, shall be immersed in Holy Spirit.
17 Wenn somit Gott ihnen die gleiche Gnadengabe verliehen hat wie uns, die wir zum Glauben an den Herrn Jesus Christus gekommen sind, wie wäre ich da imstande gewesen, Gott zu wehren?«
If therefore the like free-gift God gave unto them, as even unto us, when we had believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ, who was, I, that could withstand God?
18 Als sie das hörten, beruhigten sie sich und priesen Gott mit den Worten: »So hat Gott also auch den Heiden die Buße zum Leben verliehen!«
And, having heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying—Hence, even unto the nations, God hath granted repentance unto life.
19 Diejenigen (Gläubigen) nun, welche sich aus Anlaß der Verfolgung, die wegen des Stephanus entstanden war, zerstreut hatten, waren bis nach Phönizien, Cypern und Antiochia gezogen, ohne jedoch jemandem das Wort zu verkündigen als nur Juden.
They, therefore, who had been scattered abroad by reason of the tribulation that took place on account of Stephen, passed through as far as Phoenice and Cyprus and Antioch, unto no one speaking the word, save alone unto Jews.
20 Es befanden sich aber einige Männer aus Cypern und Cyrene unter ihnen, die sich nach ihrer Ankunft in Antiochia auch mit den Griechen besprachen und ihnen die Heilsbotschaft vom Herrn Jesus verkündigten.
And there were some from among them, Cyprians and Cyrenians, who, indeed, coming unto Antioch, began speaking, even unto the Grecian Jews, announcing the glad tidings as to the Lord Jesus;
21 Und die Hand des Herrn war mit ihnen, so daß eine große Anzahl gläubig wurde und sich zum Herrn bekehrte.
And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number—they who believed—turned unto the Lord.
22 Die Kunde hiervon kam der Gemeinde in Jerusalem zu Ohren, die dann den Barnabas nach Antiochia entsandte.
And the matter was reported in the hearing of the assembly that was in Jerusalem, concerning them; and they sent forth Barnabas, as far as Antioch;
23 Als dieser nach seiner Ankunft dort die Gnade Gottes wahrnahm, freute er sich und ermahnte alle, mit festem Herzen dem Herrn treu zu bleiben;
Who, arriving, and seeing the favour which was of God, rejoiced, and went on to beseech all, with the purpose of their heart, to abide [in] the Lord;
24 er war nämlich ein trefflicher Mann, erfüllt mit heiligem Geist und mit Glauben. So wurde denn eine ansehnliche Menge für den Herrn hinzugewonnen.
Because he was a good man, and full of Holy Spirit and faith; and a considerable multitude were added unto the Lord.
25 Barnabas begab sich dann von dort nach Tarsus, um Saulus aufzusuchen;
He went away, however, unto Tarsus, to seek up Saul;
26 und als er ihn gefunden hatte, nahm er ihn mit nach Antiochia; und es fügte sich dann so, daß sie ein ganzes Jahr hindurch als Gäste in der Gemeinde tätig waren und eine beträchtliche Menge unterwiesen und daß man in Antiochia zuerst den Jüngern den Namen ›Christen‹ (wörtlich: Christianer) beilegte.
And, finding him, he brought him unto Antioch. And so it was with them, that, for a whole year, they were brought together in the assembly, and taught a considerable multitude; also that the disciples, first in Antioch, were called, Christians.
27 In dieser Zeit kamen Propheten von Jerusalem nach Antiochia hinab.
Now, in these days, there came down from Jerusalem, prophets, unto Antioch.
28 Einer von ihnen namens Agabus trat auf und weissagte auf Eingebung des Geistes, daß eine große Hungersnot über den ganzen Erdkreis kommen würde, die dann auch wirklich unter der Regierung des (Kaisers) Klaudius eintrat.
And one from among them, by name Agabus, rising up, gave a sign, through means of the Spirit, that, a great famine, was coming over all the inhabited earth; which, indeed, came to pass under Claudius.
29 Da beschlossen die Jünger, jeder von ihnen solle nach Maßgabe seines Vermögens den im jüdischen Lande wohnenden Brüdern eine Unterstützung zukommen lassen.
And, according as any one of the disciples was being prospered, they each one of them set apart [something] for ministering, to send unto the brethren, who dwelt in Jerusalem; —
30 Sie führten diesen Beschluß auch aus und ließen es (den Ertrag der Sammlung) durch Vermittlung des Barnabas und Saulus an die Ältesten (der Gemeinde) gelangen.
Which thing they also did, sending it unto the Elders, through the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
