2 Samuel 4
1 Als nun Sauls Sohn (Isboseth) erfuhr, daß Abner in Hebron ums Leben gekommen war, entsank ihm der Mut, und ganz Israel geriet in Bestürzung.
Forsothe Isbosech, the sone of Saul, herde that Abner hadde falde doun in Ebron; and `hise hondis weren discoumfortid, and al Israel was disturblid.
2 Nun hatte Sauls Sohn Isboseth zwei Männer als Anführer von Streifscharen, der eine hieß Baana, der andere Rechab; beide waren Söhne des Benjaminiten Rimmon von Beeroth – auch Beeroth wird nämlich zu Benjamin gerechnet;
Forsothe twei men, princes of theues, weren to the sone of Saul; name to oon was Baana, and name to the tother was Rechab, the sones of Remmon Berothite, of the sones of Beniamyn; for also Beroth is arettid in Beniamyn.
3 jedoch waren die Einwohner von Beeroth nach Gitthaim ausgewandert und sind dort als Schutzbürger bis auf den heutigen Tag seßhaft geblieben. –
And men of Beroth fledden in to Gethaym; and thei weren comelyngis there `til to that tyme.
4 Sauls Sohn Jonathan aber hatte einen Sohn, der an beiden Füßen lahm war; er war fünf Jahre alt gewesen, als die Nachricht vom Tode Sauls und Jonathans aus Jesreel anlangte; da hatte seine Wärterin ihn auf den Arm genommen und die Flucht ergriffen; aber infolge der Eile bei der Flucht war er ihr entfallen und dadurch lahm geworden; sein Name war Mephiboseth.
Forsothe a sone feble in feet was to Jonathas, the sone of Saul; forsothe he was fyue yeer eld, whanne the messanger cam fro Saul and Jonathas, fro Jezrael. Therfor his nurse took hym, and fledde; and whanne sche hastide to fle, sche felde doun, and the child was maad lame; and `he hadde a name Myphibosech.
5 Die Söhne Rimmons von Beeroth also, Rechab und Baana, machten sich auf und begaben sich zur Zeit der Mittagshitze in das Haus Isboseths, der eben seine Mittagsruhe hielt.
Therfor Rechab and Baana, sones of Remmon of Beroth, camen, and entriden in the hoot dai in to the hows of Isbosech, that slepte on his bed in myd dai, `and the womman oischer of the hous clensynge wheete, slepte strongli.
6 Die Türhüterin des Hauses war nämlich gerade beim Reinigen von Weizen eingenickt und schlief; daher konnten sich die beiden Brüder in das Haus einschleichen,
Forsothe thei entriden into the hows pryueli, and token eeris of whete; and Rechab, and Baana, his brother, smytiden Isbosech in the schar, and fledden.
7 drangen in das Schlafgemach ein, wo Isboseth auf seinem Bette lag; sie schlugen ihn tot und hieben ihm den Kopf ab. Dann nahmen sie seinen Kopf, eilten während der ganzen Nacht durch die Jordanebene,
Sotheli whanne thei hadden entrid in to the hous, he slepte on his bedde in a closet; and thei smytiden and killiden hym; and whanne `his heed was takun, thei yeden bi the weie of deseert in al the nyyt.
8 kamen mit dem Kopfe Isboseths zu David nach Hebron und sagten zum König: »Hier hast du den Kopf Isboseths, des Sohnes Sauls, deines Feindes, der dir nach dem Leben getrachtet hat! Aber Gott, der HERR, hat heute meinem Herrn, dem König, Rache an Saul und seinen Nachkommen gewährt!«
And thei brouyten the heed of Isbosech to Dauid, in Ebron, and thei seiden to the kyng, Lo! the heed of Isbosech, sone of Saul, thin enemy, that souyte thi lijf; and the Lord yaf to dai to oure lord the kyng veniaunce of Saul and of his seed.
9 Da antwortete David dem Rechab und seinem Bruder Baana, den Söhnen Rimmons von Beeroth: »So wahr der HERR lebt, der mich aus aller Bedrängnis errettet hat:
Forsothe Dauid answeride to Rechab, and Baana, his brother, the sones of Remmon of Beroth, and seide to hem, The Lord lyueth, that delyueride my lijf fro al angwisch;
10 ich habe den Mann, der mir die Nachricht von Sauls Tode brachte und sich für einen Glücksboten hielt, in Ziklag ergreifen und töten lassen und ihm so seinen Botenlohn gezahlt!
for Y helde hym that telde to me, and seide, Saul is deed, which man gesside hym silf to telle prosperitees, and Y killide hym in Sichelech, to whom it bihofte me yyue meede for message;
11 Wieviel mehr, wenn ruchlose Menschen einen unschuldigen Mann in seinem eigenen Hause auf seiner Lagerstätte ermordet haben: sollte ich da jetzt nicht sein Blut von euch fordern und euch vom Erdboden vertilgen?!«
hou myche more now, whanne wickid men han slayn a giltles man in his hows on his bed, schal I not seke his blood of youre hond, and schal Y do awey you fro erthe?
12 Hierauf gab David seinen Leibwächtern Befehl; die hieben sie nieder, schlugen ihnen die Hände und Füße ab und hängten sie am Teiche zu Hebron auf. Den Kopf Isboseths aber nahmen sie und begruben ihn in der Grabstätte Abners zu Hebron.
Therfor Dauid comaundide to his children, and thei killiden hem; and thei kittiden awei the hondis and `feet of hem, and hangiden hem ouer the cisterne in Ebron. Forsothe thei token the heed of Isbosech, and birieden in the sepulcre of Abner, in Ebron.
