2 Chronik 9
1 Als aber die Königin von Saba den Ruhm Salomos vernahm, kam sie, um Salomo mit Rätselfragen auf die Probe zu stellen, nach Jerusalem mit einem sehr großen Gefolge und mit Kamelen, die Spezereien und Gold in Menge und Edelsteine trugen. Als sie nun bei Salomo angekommen war, trug sie ihm alles vor, was sie sich vorgenommen hatte;
And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with riddles at Jerusalem, with a very great train, and with camels bearing spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she spoke with him of all that was on her heart.
2 Salomo aber wußte ihr auf alle Fragen Antwort zu geben, und nichts war Salomo verborgen, worüber er ihr nicht hätte Auskunft geben können.
And Solomon solved for her all her questions; and there was nothing hidden from Solomon which he did not tell her.
3 Als nun die Königin von Saba sich von der Weisheit Salomos überzeugt hatte und den Palast sah, den er erbaut hatte,
And when the queen of Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
4 und die Speisen auf seiner Tafel und wie seine Hofleute dasaßen, ferner die Aufwartung seiner Dienerschaft und ihre Tracht, seine Mundschenken und deren Gewandung, dazu seine Brandopfer, die er im Tempel des HERRN darzubringen pflegte, da geriet sie vor Erstaunen ganz außer sich
And the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cup-bearers, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the Lord: there was no more spirit in her.
5 und sagte zum König: »Wahr ist das gewesen, was ich in meiner Heimat von dir und deiner Weisheit gehört habe.
And she said to the king, The truth [only] was the word that I heard in my own land of thy acts, and of thy wisdom.
6 Ich wollte dem, was man mir erzählte, nicht glauben, bis ich jetzt hergekommen bin und mich mit eigenen Augen überzeugt habe. Und dabei hat man mir noch nicht einmal die Hälfte von deiner außerordentlichen Weisheit berichtet: du übertriffst noch das Gerücht, das ich vernommen habe.
And I believed not in their words, until I came, and my eyes saw [all]; and, behold, the one-half of the greatness of thy wisdom hath not been told me: thou excellest the report which I have heard.
7 Beneidenswert sind deine Leute und beneidenswert diese deine Diener, die beständig vor dir stehen und deine Weisheit hören dürfen!
Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, who stand before thee continually, and hear thy wisdom.
8 Gepriesen sei der HERR, dein Gott, der Wohlgefallen an dir gefunden hat, so daß er dich auf seinen Thron als König für den HERRN, deinen Gott, gesetzt hat! Weil dein Gott Israel liebt, darum hat er, um ihm für immer Bestand zu verleihen, dich zum König über sie bestellt, damit du Recht und Gerechtigkeit übest!« –
Blessed be the Lord thy God, who hath had delight in thee to place thee on his throne, as a king for the Lord thy God; because thy God loved Israel, to sustain them for ever, therefore hath he placed thee over them as king, to exercise justice and righteousness.
9 Hierauf schenkte sie dem König hundertundzwanzig Talente Gold und Spezereien in großer Menge sowie Edelsteine; niemals ist eine solche Menge von Spezereien beisammen gewesen, wie die Königin von Saba sie damals dem König Salomo schenkte.
And she gave to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in very great abundance, and precious stones: and there never were any such spices as those which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.
10 [Allerdings brachten auch die Leute Hurams und die Leute Salomos, wenn sie Gold aus Ophir geholt hatten, Sandelholz und Edelsteine mit;
And also the servants of Churam, and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought sandal-trees and precious stones.
11 und der König ließ von dem Sandelholz Treppen sowohl für den Tempel des HERRN als auch für den königlichen Palast herstellen sowie Zithern und Harfen für die Sänger; aber derartiges war zuvor im Lande Juda nicht zu sehen gewesen.]
And the king made of the sandal-trees steps for the house of the Lord, and for the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were never seen the like of them before in the land of Judah.
12 Der König Salomo aber schenkte der Königin von Saba alles, wonach sie Verlangen trug und was sie sich erbat, abgesehen von dem Gegengeschenk für das, was sie dem König gebracht hatte. Hierauf trat sie mit ihrem Gefolge den Rückweg an und zog wieder heim.
And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her pleasure, whatsoever she asked, beside [a return for] that which she had brought unto the king. And she turned about and went away to her own country, she and her servants.
13 Das Gewicht des Goldes, das für Salomo in einem Jahre einging, betrug 666 Talente Gold,
Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty and six talents of gold;
14 ungerechnet die Einkünfte von den Karawanen und aus dem Handel der Kaufleute; dazu brachten auch alle Könige von Arabien und die Statthalter des Landes dem Salomo Gold und Silber. –
Besides what the travelling tradesmen and the merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.
15 Der König Salomo ließ auch zweihundert Langschilde von getriebenem Golde anfertigen: mit sechshundert Schekel getriebenen Goldes überzog er jeden Schild;
And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of beaten gold he used for each one target.
16 ferner dreihundert Tartschen von getriebenem Golde: dreihundert Schekel Gold verwandte er auf den Überzug jeder Tartsche; der König brachte sie dann im Libanonwaldhause unter. –
And [he made] three hundred shields of beaten gold; three hundred shekels of gold he used for each one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
17 Weiter ließ der König einen großen Thron von Elfenbein anfertigen und ihn mit feinem Gold überziehen.
The king also made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.
18 Der Thron hatte sechs Stufen, und ein goldener Fußschemel war an dem Throne befestigt; auf beiden Seiten des Sitzplatzes befanden sich Armlehnen, und neben den Armlehnen standen zwei Löwen;
And the throne had six steps, with a footstool of gold, fastened into the throne; and there were arms on either side, on the place of the seat; and two lions stood beside the arms;
19 außerdem standen zwölf Löwen auf den sechs Stufen zu beiden Seiten: ein derartiges Kunstwerk ist noch nie für irgendein Königreich hergestellt worden. –
And twelve lions stood there upon the six steps on both sides: there was not the like made in any kingdom.
20 Alle Trinkgefäße des Königs Salomo bestanden aus Gold; auch alle Geräte des Libanonwaldhauses waren von feinem Gold; Silber wurde zu Salomos Zeiten für wertlos geachtet.
And all king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: no silver was valued in the days of Solomon at the least.
21 Denn der König hatte Schiffe, die mit den Leuten Hurams nach Tharsis fuhren; einmal in drei Jahren kamen die Tharsisschiffe heim und brachten Gold und Silber, Elfenbein, Affen und Pfauen mit.
For the king's ships went to Tharshish with the servants of Churam; once in three years did the Tharshish-ships use to come home laden with gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
22 So übertraf denn der König Salomo alle Könige der Erde an Reichtum und Weisheit;
And king Solomon became greater than all the kings of the earth for riches and wisdom.
23 und alle Könige der Erde suchten Salomo zu sehen, um sich persönlich von seiner Weisheit zu überzeugen, die Gott ihm ins Herz gelegt hatte.
And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
24 Dabei brachte jeder von ihnen sein Geschenk mit: silberne und goldene Geräte, Gewänder, Waffen und Spezereien, Rosse und Maultiere, Jahr für Jahr. –
And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, armor, and spices, horses, and mules; [and] so year by year.
25 Salomo besaß auch 4000 Gespanne Rosse und Wagen und 12000 Reitpferde, die er in den Wagenstädten oder in seiner Nähe zu Jerusalem untergebracht hatte.
And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he quartered in the cities for chariots, and near the king at Jerusalem.
26 Und er herrschte über alle Könige vom Euphratstrom an bis zum Philisterlande und bis an die Grenze Ägyptens.
And he was ruling over all the kings from the river even unto the land of the Philistines, and as far as the boundary of Egypt.
27 Und der König brachte es dahin, daß es in Jerusalem soviel Silber gab wie Steine und daß die Zedernstämme an Menge den Maulbeerfeigenbäumen in der Niederung gleichkamen.
And the king rendered silver in Jerusalem like stones, and the cedar-trees he rendered like the sycamore-trees that are in the lowlands, for abundance.
28 Und man führte für Salomo Pferde aus Ägypten und aus allen übrigen Ländern ein.
And men were bringing out horses for Solomon from Egypt and from all lands.
29 Die übrige Geschichte Salomos aber, die frühere wie die spätere, findet sich bekanntlich schon aufgezeichnet in der Geschichte des Propheten Nathan sowie in der Weissagung Ahias von Silo und in den Gesichten des Sehers Iddo über Jerobeam, den Sohn Nebats.
And the remainder of the acts of Solomon, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Achiyah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Ye'do the seer concerning Jerobo'am the son of Nebat.
30 Salomo hat aber vierzig Jahre lang in Jerusalem über ganz Israel geherrscht.
And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.
31 Dann legte Salomo sich zu seinen Vätern, und man begrub ihn in der Stadt seines Vaters David. Sein Sohn Rehabeam folgte ihm in der Regierung nach.
And Solomon slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David his father: and Rehobo'am his son became king in his stead.
