2 Chronik 7

1 Als dann Salomo mit seinem Gebet zu Ende war, fuhr Feuer vom Himmel herab und verzehrte das Brandopfer und die Schlachtopfer, und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN erfüllte das Tempelhaus,

Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

2 so daß die Priester nicht in den Tempel des HERRN hineingehen konnten, weil die Herrlichkeit des HERRN den Tempel des HERRN erfüllte.

And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD’S house.

3 Als nun alle Israeliten das Feuer herabfahren und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN über dem Tempel ausgebreitet sahen, knieten sie, das Angesicht zur Erde geneigt, auf das Steinpflaster nieder, vollzogen die Anbetung und priesen den HERRN, daß er gütig sei und daß seine Gnade ewig währe.

And all the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD was upon the house; and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and gave thanks unto the LORD, [saying], For he is good; for his mercy [endureth] for ever.

4 Hierauf brachten der König und das ganze Volk Schlachtopfer vor dem HERRN dar,

Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before the LORD.

5 und zwar ließ Salomo als Schlachtopfer 22000 Rinder und 120000 Stück Kleinvieh schlachten: damit weihten der König und das ganze Volk den Tempel Gottes ein,

And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

6 während die Priester ihres Amtes warteten und (ebenso) die Leviten mit den gottesdienstlichen Musikinstrumenten, die der König David hatte anfertigen lassen, den Lobgesang auf den HERRN vortrugen, daß seine Güte ewig währe, und die Priester ihnen gegenüber in die Trompeten stießen, während alle Israeliten dabeistanden. –

And the priests stood, according to their offices; the Levites also with instruments of music of the LORD, which David the king had made to give thanks unto the LORD, for his mercy [endureth] for ever, when David praised by their ministry: and the priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood.

7 Damals weihte Salomo den mittleren Teil des Vorhofes, der vor dem Tempelhause des HERRN lag, zur Opferstätte; denn dort brachte er die Brandopfer und die Fettstücke der Heilsopfer dar, weil der kupferne Altar, den Salomo hatte herstellen lassen, die Brand- und Speiseopfer und die Fettstücke (der Heilsopfer) nicht fassen konnte.

Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD; for there he offered the burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offering, and the meal offering, and the fat.

8 Auf diese Weise beging Salomo damals das Fest sieben Tage lang und ganz Israel mit ihm, eine gewaltige Festgemeinde, die zusammengekommen war von der Gegend bei Hamath an bis an den Bach Ägyptens.

So Solomon held the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt.

9 Am achten Tage aber hielten sie eine Festversammlung; denn die Einweihung des Altars hatte man sieben Tage lang gefeiert, und das Fest dauerte auch sieben Tage.

And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

10 Am dreiundzwanzigsten Tage des siebten Monats aber entließ Salomo das Volk in ihre Heimat, fröhlich und wohlgemut wegen der Wohltaten, mit denen der HERR (seinen Knecht) David und Salomo und sein Volk Israel gesegnet hatte.

And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh mouth he sent the people away unto their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

11 Als nun Salomo den Tempel des HERRN und den königlichen Palast vollendet und alles, was er im Tempel des HERRN und in seinem Palast hatte schaffen wollen, glücklich ausgeführt hatte,

Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king’s house: and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

12 da erschien der HERR dem Salomo nachts im Traume und sagte zu ihm: »Ich habe dein Gebet gehört und diesen Ort mir zur Opferstätte erkoren.

And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.

13 Wenn ich den Himmel verschließe, so daß kein Regen fällt, oder wenn ich den Heuschrecken gebiete, das Land abzufressen, oder wenn ich die Pest unter mein Volk sende

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

14 und mein Volk, das nach meinem Namen genannt ist, sich dann demütigt und (zu mir) betet und mein Angesicht sucht und sich von seinem bösen Tun bekehrt: so will ich sie vom Himmel her erhören und ihnen ihre Sünden vergeben und ihrem Lande Rettung schaffen.

if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

15 Fortan sollen also meine Augen offenstehen und meine Ohren aufmerken auf die Gebete an dieser Stätte.

Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place.

16 Und nunmehr habe ich dieses Haus erwählt und zu meinem Heiligtum gemacht, damit mein Name daselbst in Ewigkeit wohnt und meine Augen und mein Herz daselbst immerdar weilen.

For now have I chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

17 Wenn du nun vor mir ebenso wandelst, wie dein Vater David es getan hat, so daß du alles tust, was ich dir geboten habe, und meine Satzungen und Rechte beobachtest,

And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments;

18 so will ich den Thron deines Königtums feststellen, wie ich es deinem Vater David feierlich zugesagt habe mit den Worten: ›Es soll dir nie an einem (Nachkommen) fehlen, der über Israel herrsche.‹

then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

19 Wenn ihr aber von mir abfallt und meine Satzungen und Gebote, die ich euch zur Pflicht gemacht habe, verlaßt und anderen Göttern zu dienen und sie anzubeten anfangt,

But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them:

20 so werde ich die Israeliten aus meinem Lande, das ich ihnen gegeben habe, hinwegreißen und dieses Haus, das ich meinem Namen geheiligt habe, keines Blickes mehr würdigen und werde es für alle Völker zum Gegenstand des Hohnes und Spottes machen.

then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

21 Und so erhaben dieser Tempel auch gewesen sein mag, so sollen doch alle, die an ihm vorübergehen, sich entsetzen; und wenn sie fragen: ›Warum hat der HERR diesem Lande und diesem Hause solches Geschick widerfahren lassen?‹,

And this house, which is so high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?

22 so wird man antworten: ›Zur Strafe dafür, daß sie den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Väter, der sie aus dem Lande Ägypten hinausgeführt hatte, verlassen und sich anderen Göttern zugewandt und sie angebetet und ihnen gedient haben: darum hat er all dieses Unglück über sie kommen lassen!‹«

And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
