2 Chronik 23

1 Im siebten Jahre aber faßte Jojada einen kühnen Entschluß und setzte sich mit den Befehlshabern der Hundertschaften, nämlich mit Asarja, dem Sohne Jerohams, Ismael, dem Sohne Johanans, Asarja, dem Sohne Obeds, Maaseja, dem Sohne Adajas, und Elisaphat, dem Sohne Sichris, ins Einvernehmen.

And in the year seventh he strengthened himself Jehoiada and he took [the] commanders of the hundreds to Azariah [the] son of Jeroham and to Ishmael [the] son of Jehohanan and to Azariah [the] son of Obed and with Maaseiah [the] son of Adaiah and with Elishaphat [the] son of Zikri with himself in covenant.

2 Die zogen dann in Juda umher, brachten die Leviten in allen Städten Judas und die israelitischen Familienhäupter auf ihre Seite, so daß sie nach Jerusalem kamen,

And they went around in Judah and they gathered the Levites from all [the] cities of Judah and [the] heads of the fathers of Israel and they came to Jerusalem.

3 wo die ganze Versammlung im Hause Gottes einen Bund mit dem (jungen) Könige schloß. Dabei richtete (Jojada) folgende Worte an sie: »Hier der Königssohn soll König sein, wie der HERR es betreffs der Nachkommen Davids verheißen hat.

And it made all the assembly a covenant in [the] house of God with the king and he said to them here! [the] son of the king he will reign just as he spoke Yahweh on [the] sons of David.

4 Folgendermaßen müßt ihr nun zu Werke gehen: das eine Drittel von euch, den Priestern und Leviten, die ihr am Sabbat (aus dem Tempel) abzieht, soll den Dienst als Torhüter an den Schwellen versehen;

This [is] the thing which you will do the third [part] of you [who] come of the sabbath to the priests and to the Levites [will become] [the] gatekeepers of the thresholds.

5 ein anderes Drittel soll den königlichen Palast, das letzte Drittel das Tor Jesod, das gesamte Kriegsvolk endlich die Vorhöfe des Tempels des HERRN besetzen.

And the third [part] [will be] at [the] house of the king and the third [part] [will be] at [the] gate of the foundation and all the people [will be] in [the] courts of [the] house of Yahweh.

6 Den Tempel des HERRN aber darf niemand betreten außer den Priestern und den diensttuenden Leviten: diese dürfen hineingehen, denn sie sind geheiligt; das gesamte übrige Volk aber soll die Vorschrift des HERRN beobachten.

And may not anyone go [the] house of Yahweh that except the priests and those [who] are serving of the Levites they they will go for [are] holiness they and all the people they will keep [the] duty of Yahweh.

7 Die Leviten sollen sich dann rings um den König scharen, ein jeder mit seinen Waffen in der Hand, und wer in den Tempel eindringt, soll getötet werden; ihr müßt beständig um den König sein, wenn er (aus dem Tempel) auszieht und wenn er (in den Palast) einzieht!«

And they will surround the Levites the king all around each man and weapons his in hand his and the [one who] comes into the house he will be put to death and be with the king when comes he and when goes out he.

8 Die Leviten und alle Judäer verfuhren dann genau nach der Anweisung des Priesters Jojada: jeder nahm seine Leute zu sich, sowohl die, welche am Sabbat abtraten, als auch die, welche am Sabbat antraten; denn der Priester Jojada hatte die (dienstfreien) Abteilungen nicht entlassen.

And they did the Levites and all Judah according to all that he had commanded Jehoiada the priest and they took each men his [who] were coming of the sabbath with [who] were going out of the sabbath for not he dismissed Jehoiada the priest the divisions.

9 Der Priester Jojada gab dann den Hauptleuten der Hundertschaften die Speere, Tartschen und Großschilde, die dem König David gehört hatten und die sich im Tempel Gottes befanden.

And he gave Jehoiada the priest to [the] commanders of the hundreds the spears and the shields and the shields which [had belonged] to the king David which [were] [the] house of God.

10 Nachdem er dann das ganze Kriegsvolk, und zwar einen jeden mit der Lanze in der Hand, von der Südseite des Tempels bis zur Nordseite des Tempels, bis an den Altar und wieder bis an den Tempel aufgestellt hatte,

And he stationed all the people and each - weapon his [was] in hand his from [the] side of the house south to [the] side of the house north to the altar and to the house at the king all around.

11 führten sie den Königssohn heraus, legten ihm den Stirnreif um und gaben ihm die Gesetzesrolle in die Hand. So machten sie ihn zum König; und Jojada samt seinen Söhnen salbten ihn und riefen: »Es lebe der König!«

And they brought out [the] son of the king and they put on him the crown and the testimony and they made king him and they anointed him Jehoiada and sons his and they said may he live the king.

12 Als nun Athalja das Geschrei des Volkes hörte, das herbeigeströmt war und dem Könige zujubelte, begab sie sich zu dem Volk in den Tempel des HERRN.

And she heard Athaliah [the] sound of the people who were running and who were praising the king and she came to the people [the] house of Yahweh.

13 Dort sah sie den König auf seinem Standort am Eingang stehen und die Hauptleute und die Trompeter neben dem König, während das gesamte Volk des Landes voller Freude war und in die Trompeten stieß und die Sänger mit den Musikinstrumenten da waren und das Zeichen zum Lobpreis gaben. Da zerriß Athalja ihre Kleider und rief: »Verrat, Verrat!«

And she saw and there! the king [was] standing at pillar his at the entrance and the officials and the trumpets [were] with the king and all [the] people of the land [was] joyful and [was] giving a blast on trumpets and the singers with [the] instruments of song [were] leading to praise and she tore Athaliah clothes her and she said treason treason.

14 Aber der Priester Jojada ließ die Hauptleute der Hundertschaften, die Befehlshaber des Heeres, vortreten und gab ihnen den Befehl: »Führt sie hinaus zwischen den Reihen hindurch! Und wer ihr folgt, soll mit dem Schwert niedergehauen werden!« Der Priester hatte nämlich befohlen: »Ihr dürft sie nicht im Tempel des HERRN töten!«

And he sent out Jehoiada the priest [the] commanders of the hundreds - [the] officers of the army and he said to them bring out her to from between the ranks and the [one who] goes after her he will be put to death with the sword for he had said the priest not you must put to death her [the] house of Yahweh.

15 Da legte man Hand an sie, und als sie am Eingang des Roßtores am königlichen Palast angelangt war, tötete man sie dort.

And they put to her hands and she went to [the] entrance of [the] gate of the horses [the] house of the king and they put to death her there.

16 Darauf schloß Jojada zwischen dem HERRN und dem gesamten Volk und dem König das feierliche Abkommen, daß sie das Volk des HERRN sein wollten.

And he made Jehoiada a covenant between himself and between all the people and between the king to become a people of Yahweh.

17 Darauf zog das ganze Volk zum Baalstempel und riß ihn nieder: seine Altäre und Götterbilder zertrümmerten sie vollständig und erschlugen den Baalspriester Matthan vor den Altären.

And they went all the people [the] house of Baal and they pulled down it and altars its and images its they broke and Mattan [the] priest of Baal they killed before the altars.

18 Alsdann besetzte Jojada die Ämter am Tempel des HERRN mit den Priestern und den Leviten, die David für den Tempeldienst in Klassen abgeteilt hatte, damit sie dem HERRN die Brandopfer, wie es im mosaischen Gesetz vorgeschrieben ist, unter Freudenrufen und mit Gesängen nach der Anordnung Davids darbrächten.

And he put Jehoiada [the] oversight of [the] house of Yahweh in [the] hand of the priests the Levites whom he had assigned David over [the] house of Yahweh to offer up [the] burnt offerings of Yahweh according to [what] is written in [the] law of Moses with joy and with song on [the] hands of David.

19 Auch stellte er die Torhüter an den Toren des Hauses des HERRN auf, damit kein irgendwie Unreiner hereinkäme.

And he stationed the gatekeepers at [the] gates of [the] house of Yahweh and not he came a [person] unclean to any matter.

20 Dann nahm er die Hauptleute sowie die Vornehmen und die Männer, die eine leitende Stellung im Volke einnahmen, aber auch das gewöhnliche Volk des Landes mit sich und führte den König aus dem Tempel des HERRN hinab, und als sie durch das obere Tor in das königliche Schloß gezogen waren, setzten sie den König auf den königlichen Thron.

And he took [the] commanders of the hundreds and the nobles and the rulers over the people and - all [the] people of the land and he brought down the king from [the] house of Yahweh and they came in [the] middle of [the] gate upper [the] house of the king and they made sit the king on [the] throne of royalty.

21 Da war alles Volk im Lande voller Freude, und die Stadt blieb ruhig; Athalja aber hatte man mit dem Schwert getötet.

And they rejoiced all [the] people of the land and the city it was at peace and Athaliah they had put to death with the sword.
