2 Chronik 18

1 Als Josaphat aber Reichtum und Ehre in Fülle erlangt hatte, verschwägerte er sich mit Ahab

And Iehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, but he was ioyned in affinitie with Ahab.

2 und begab sich dann einige Jahre später auf Besuch zu Ahab nach Samaria hinab. Da ließ Ahab für ihn und sein Gefolge Kleinvieh und Rinder in Menge schlachten und beredete ihn, am Feldzuge gegen Ramoth in Gilead teilzunehmen.

And after certaine yeeres he went downe to Ahab to Samaria: and Ahab slew sheepe and oxen for him in great nomber, and for the people that he had with him, and entised him to goe vp vnto Ramoth Gilead.

3 Der König Ahab von Israel richtete nämlich an den König Josaphat von Juda die Frage: »Willst du mit mir gegen Ramoth in Gilead ziehen?« Da erwiderte er ihm: »Ich will sein wie du: mein Volk (oder Heer) wie dein Volk (oder Heer); ja ich will mit dir zu Felde ziehen!«

And Ahab King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Wilt thou goe with mee to Ramoth Gilead? And hee answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people, and wee will ioyne with thee in the warre.

4 Als Josaphat dann dem König von Israel riet, zunächst doch den Willen des HERRN zu erforschen,

And Iehoshaphat sayde vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsel, I pray thee, at the worde of the Lord this day.

5 ließ der König von Israel die Propheten zusammenkommen, vierhundert Mann, und fragte sie: »Sollen wir gegen Ramoth in Gilead zu Felde ziehen, oder soll ich es unterlassen?« Sie antworteten: »Ziehe hin, denn Gott wird es dem König in die Hand geben!«

Therefore the King of Israel gathered of Prophets foure hundreth men, and sayde vnto them, Shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I cease? And they sayd, Go vp: for God shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.

6 Da fragte Josaphat: »Ist hier sonst kein Prophet des HERRN mehr, durch den wir Auskunft erhalten könnten?«

But Iehoshaphat sayde, Is there heere neuer a Prophet more of the Lord that wee might inquire of him?

7 Der König von Israel erwiderte dem Josaphat: »Es ist wohl noch einer da, durch den wir den HERRN befragen könnten; aber ich habe nicht gern mit ihm zu tun, denn er weissagt mir niemals Gutes, sondern immer nur Unglück; das ist Micha, der Sohn Jimlas.« Aber Josaphat entgegnete: »Der König wolle nicht so reden!«

And the King of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whome wee may aske counsell of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophesie good vnto me, but alway euil: it is Michaiah the sonne of Imla. Then Iehoshaphat said, Let not the King say so.

8 Da rief der König von Israel einen Kammerherrn und befahl ihm, schleunigst Micha, den Sohn Jimlas, zu holen.

And the King of Israel called an eunuche, and said, Call quickly Michaiah the sonne of Imla.

9 Während nun der König von Israel und der König Josaphat von Juda ein jeder auf seinem Thron in ihren Königsgewändern auf dem freien Platz am Eingang des Stadttores von Samaria saßen und alle Propheten vor ihnen weissagten,

And the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne clothed in their apparel: they sate euen in the threshing floore at the entring in of the gate of Samaria: and all the Prophets prophesied before them.

10 machte sich Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, eiserne Hörner und rief aus: »So spricht der HERR: ›Mit solchen Hörnern wirst du die Syrer niederstoßen, bis du sie vernichtet hast!‹«

And Zidkiah ye sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites vntill thou hast consumed them.

11 Ebenso weissagten auch alle anderen Propheten, indem sie riefen: »Ziehe hin nach Ramoth in Gilead: du wirst Glück haben, denn der HERR wird es dem König in die Hand fallen lassen.«

And all the Prophets prophesied so, saying, Go vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.

12 Der Bote aber, der hingegangen war, um Micha zu holen, sagte zu ihm: »Siehe, die (übrigen) Propheten haben dem König einstimmig Glück verheißen; so schließe du dich doch ihrem einmütigen Ausspruche an und prophezeie ebenfalls Glück!«

And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Beholde, the wordes of the Prophets declare good to the King with one accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.

13 Micha aber antwortete: »So wahr der HERR lebt! Nur was mein Gott mir eingeben wird, das werde ich verkünden!«

And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.

14 Als er nun zum König kam, fragte dieser ihn: »Micha, sollen wir gegen Ramoth in Gilead zu Felde ziehen, oder soll ich es unterlassen?« Er antwortete: »Zieht hin, ihr werdet Glück haben, denn sie werden euch in die Hand geliefert werden!«

So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I leaue off? And he said, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shalbe deliuered into your hand.

15 Da entgegnete ihm der König: »Wie oft soll ich dich beschwören, daß du mir nichts verkündest als die reine Wahrheit im Namen des HERRN?«

And the King sayd to him, Howe oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell mee nothing but the trueth in the Name of the Lord?

16 Da sagte Micha: »Ich habe ganz Israel zerstreut auf den Bergen gesehen wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben; der HERR aber sagte: ›Diese haben keinen Herrscher mehr: ein jeder (von ihnen) möge in Frieden nach Hause zurückkehren!‹«

Then he said, I saw al Israel scattered in the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no Master: let them returne euery man to his house in peace.

17 Da sagte der König von Israel zu Josaphat: »Habe ich dir nicht gesagt, daß er mir niemals Glück, sondern nur Unheil prophezeit?«

And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesie good vnto me, but euill?

18 Micha aber fuhr fort: »Darum vernehmet das Wort des HERRN! Ich habe den HERRN auf seinem Throne sitzen sehen, während das ganze himmlische Heer ihm zur Rechten und zur Linken stand.

Againe hee saide, Therefore heare ye the worde of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sit vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing at his right hand, and at his left.

19 Da fragte der HERR: ›Wer will Ahab, den König von Israel, betören, daß er zu Felde ziehe und bei Ramoth in Gilead falle?‹ Da erwiderte der eine dies, der andere das,

And the Lord sayd, Who shall perswade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go vp, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.

20 bis endlich der (oder ein) Geist vortrat, sich vor den HERRN stellte und sagte: ›Ich will ihn betören!‹ Der HERR fragte ihn: ›Auf welche Weise?‹

Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein?

21 Da antwortete er: ›Ich will hingehen und zum Lügengeist im Munde aller seiner Propheten werden.‹ Da sagte der HERR: ›Du sollst ihn betören, und es wird dir auch gelingen! Geh hin und tu so!‹

And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so.

22 Nun denn, siehe! Der HERR hat diesen deinen Propheten einen Geist der Lüge in den Mund gelegt; denn der HERR hat Unglück für dich beschlossen.«

Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.

23 Da trat Zedekia, der Sohn Kenaanas, auf Micha zu und gab ihm einen Backenstreich mit den Worten: »Auf welchem Wege sollte denn der Geist des HERRN von mir gewichen sein, um mit dir zu reden?«

Then Zidkiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayde, By what way went the Spirit of the Lord from me, to speake with thee?

24 Micha entgegnete: »Du wirst es an jenem Tage erfahren, an welchem du dich aus einem Gemach in das andere begeben wirst, um dich zu verstecken!«

And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see that day when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.

25 Hierauf befahl der König von Israel: »Nehmt Micha und führt ihn zum Stadthauptmann Amon und zum königlichen Prinzen Joas zurück

And the King of Israel sayde, Take ye Michaiah, and cary him to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the Kings sonne,

26 und meldet dort: ›So hat der König befohlen: Werft diesen Menschen ins Gefängnis und erhaltet ihn notdürftig mit Brot und Wasser am Leben, bis ich wohlbehalten heimkehre!‹«

And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction vntil I returne in peace.

27 Micha antwortete: »Wenn du wirklich wohlbehalten heimkehrst, so hat der HERR nicht durch mich geredet!« Er fügte dann noch hinzu: »Hört dies, ihr Völker alle!«

And Michaiah said, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he saide, Heare, all ye people.

28 Als hierauf der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, gegen Ramoth in Gilead zu Felde gezogen waren,

So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.

29 sagte der König von Israel zu Josaphat: »Ich will mich verkleiden und so in die Schlacht gehen; du aber magst deine gewöhnliche Kleidung anbehalten.« So verkleidete sich denn der König von Israel, und sie zogen in die Schlacht.

And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, I will change my selfe, and enter into the battel: but put thou on thine apparel. So the King of Israel changed himselfe, and they went into the battel.

30 Der König von Syrien hatte aber den Befehlshabern seiner Kriegswagen den bestimmten Befehl erteilt: »Ihr sollt niemand angreifen, er sei gering oder vornehm, sondern nur den König von Israel!«

And the King of Aram had commanded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small, nor great, but against the King of Israel onely.

31 Als nun die Befehlshaber der Kriegswagen Josaphat zu Gesicht bekamen, dachten sie, daß er der König von Israel sei, und wandten sich von allen Seiten gegen ihn, um ihn anzugreifen. Da erhob Josaphat ein Geschrei, und der HERR half ihm, indem Gott sie von ihm weglockte.

And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayde, It is the King of Israel: and they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed, and the Lord helped him and moued them to depart from him.

32 Sobald nämlich die Befehlshaber der Wagen erkannt hatten, daß er nicht der König von Israel sei, wandten sie sich von ihm ab.

For when the captaines of the charets saw that hee was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.

33 Ein Mann aber spannte seinen Bogen aufs Geratewohl und traf den König von Israel zwischen den Ringelgurt und den Panzer. Da befahl er seinem Wagenlenker: »Wende um und bringe mich vom Schlachtfelde weg, denn ich bin verwundet!«

Then a certaine man drewe a bowe mightily, and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine: Therefore he saide to his charetman, Turne thine hand, and carie mee out of the host: for I am hurt.

34 Da aber der Kampf an jenem Tage immer heftiger entbrannte, blieb der König von Israel dann doch den Syrern gegenüber aufrecht im Wagen stehen bis zum Abend; um die Zeit des Sonnenuntergangs aber starb er.

And the battel increased that day: and the King of Israel stood still in his charet against the Aramites vntil euen, and dyed at the time of the sunne going downe.
