1 Thessalonicher 4
1 Weiter nun, liebe Brüder, bitten und ermahnen wir euch in dem Herrn Jesus, daß ihr ganz so, wie ihr es von uns vernommen habt, auf welche Weise ihr wandeln und zu Gottes Wohlgefallen leben müßt, – ihr wandelt ja auch wirklich so –, daß ihr darin immer noch zunehmet;
As to the rest, then, brothers, we request, and call on you in the Lord Jesus, as you received from us how it is necessary for you to walk and to please God, that you may abound the more,
2 ihr wißt ja, welche Weisungen wir euch im Auftrag des Herrn Jesus gegeben haben.
for you have known what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus;
3 Denn das ist der Wille Gottes, eure Heiligung, daß ihr die Unzucht meidet,
for this is the will of God—your sanctification: that you abstain from the whoredom,
4 daß ein jeder von euch wisse, sein eigenes Gefäß sich zu erwerben in Heiligkeit und Ehrbarkeit,
that each of you know to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
5 nicht in leidenschaftlicher Begierde wie die Heiden, die Gott nicht kennen,
not in the affection of desire, as also the nations that were not knowing God,
6 daß niemand sich Übergriffe zuschulden kommen lasse und in Geschäften seinen Bruder übervorteile; denn ein Rächer ist der Herr über alle solche Verfehlungen, wie wir es euch schon früher gesagt und nachdrücklich bezeugt haben;
that no one goes beyond and defrauds his brother in the matter, because the LORD [is] an avenger of all these, as we also spoke to you before and testified,
7 Gott hat uns ja nicht zur Unsittlichkeit berufen, sondern zur Heiligung.
for God did not call us to uncleanness, but in sanctification.
8 Mithin wer (diese Weisungen) mißachtet, der mißachtet damit nicht einen Menschen, sondern Gott, denselben, der euch auch seinen heiligen Geist ins Herz gibt.
He, therefore, who is despising, does not despise man, but God, who also gave His Holy Spirit to us.
9 Was sodann die Bruderliebe betrifft, so brauchen wir euch über diese nicht brieflich zu unterweisen, denn ihr seid selber von Gott gelehrt worden, einander zu lieben,
And concerning the brotherly love, you have no need of [my] writing to you, for you yourselves are God-taught to love one another,
10 und ihr beweist das auch durch die Tat an allen Brüdern in ganz Mazedonien. Doch ermahnen wir euch, liebe Brüder, darin noch vollkommener zu werden
for you do it also to all the brothers who [are] in all Macedonia; and we call on you, brothers, to abound still more,
11 und eure Ehre darin zu suchen, daß ihr ein ruhiges Leben führt, euren eigenen Geschäften nachgeht und euch euer Brot mit eurer Hände Arbeit verdient. So haben wir es euch geboten,
and to study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,
12 damit ihr im Verkehr mit den Draußenstehenden einen ehrbaren Wandel führt und niemandes Unterstützung nötig habt.
that you may walk properly to those outside, and may have lack of nothing.
13 Wir wollen euch aber, liebe Brüder, über die Entschlafenen nicht im unklaren lassen, damit ihr nicht betrübt zu sein braucht wie die anderen, die keine Hoffnung haben.
And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, that you may not sorrow, as also the rest who have no hope,
14 Denn so gewiß wir glauben, daß Jesus gestorben und auferstanden ist, ebenso gewiß wird Gott auch die Entschlafenen durch Jesus mit ihm zusammen (den gleichen Weg) führen.
for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also God will bring with Him those asleep through Jesus,
15 Denn das sagen wir euch aufgrund eines Wortes des Herrn: Wir, die wir leben, die wir bis zur Ankunft des Herrn übrigbleiben, werden vor den Entschlafenen nichts voraushaben.
for we say this to you in the word of the LORD, that we who are living—who remain over to the coming of the LORD—may not precede those asleep,
16 Denn der Herr selbst wird, sobald sein Weckruf ergeht, sobald die Stimme des Engelfürsten erschallt und die Posaune Gottes ertönt, vom Himmel herabkommen, und die Toten in Christus werden zuerst auferstehen;
because the LORD Himself, with a shout, with the voice of a chief-messenger, and with the trumpet of God, will come down from Heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first;
17 darauf werden wir, die wir noch leben und übriggeblieben sind, zusammen mit ihnen auf Wolken dem Herrn entgegen in die Luft entrückt werden; und alsdann werden wir allezeit mit dem Herrn vereinigt sein.
then we who are living, who are remaining over, will be snatched up together with them in [the] clouds to meet the LORD in [the] air, and so we will always be with the LORD;
18 So tröstet euch also untereinander mit diesen Worten!
so, then, comfort one another with these words.
