1 Die Söhne Issaschars waren: Thola und Pua, Jasub und Simron, zusammen vier.
Issachar’s four sons were Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron.
2 Die Söhne Tholas waren: Ussi, Rephaja, Jeriel, Jahmai, Jibsam und Samuel, Häupter ihrer Familien, von Thola, kriegstüchtige Männer, nach ihren Geschlechtern; ihre Zahl betrug zur Zeit Davids 22600.
Tola’s sons were Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam, and Samuel (OR, Shemuel). They were all leaders of the clans [descended from] them. In the record of Tola’s descendants were the names of 22,600 men who served in the army during the time that David was the king [of Israel].
3 Die Söhne Ussis waren: Jisrahja; und die Söhne Jisrahjas: Michael, Obadja, Joel und Jissia, insgesamt fünf Familienhäupter.
Uzzi’s son was Izrahiah. Izrahiah’s five sons were Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah. Izrahiah and his sons were all leaders of their clans.
4 Zu ihnen gehörten nach ihren Geschlechtern, nach ihren Familien, Kriegerscharen: 36000 Mann; denn sie hatten viele Frauen und Kinder.
In the record of Izrahiah’s descendants were the names of 36,000 men who served in the army because they had many wives and children.
5 Dazu ihre Stammesgenossen, sämtliche Geschlechter Issaschars, waren kriegstüchtige Männer; 87000 ergab ihr Verzeichnis im ganzen.
In the records of the clans descended from Issachar were the names of 87,000 men who served in the army.
6 Die Söhne Benjamins waren: Bela, Becher und Jediael, zusammen drei.
[Some of the] sons of Benjamin were Bela, Beker, and Jediael.
7 Die Söhne Belas waren: Ezbon, Ussi, Ussiel, Jerimoth und Iri, zusammen fünf, Familienhäupter, kriegstüchtige Männer; ihr Verzeichnis ergab 22034.
Bela’s five sons were Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri. They were all leaders of clans. In the records of the clans descended from Bela there were names of 22,034 men who served in the army.
8 Die Söhne Bechers waren: Semira, Joas, Elieser, Eljoenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abia, Anathoth und Alemeth; alle diese waren Söhne Bechers,
Beker’s sons were Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Alemeth.
9 und ihr Verzeichnis nach ihren Geschlechtern, nach ihren Familienhäuptern ergab 20200 kriegstüchtige Männer.
In the records of the clans descended from Beker were the names of 20,200 men and leaders of the clans who served in the army.
10 Die Söhne Jediaels waren: Bilhan; und die Söhne Bilhans: Jehus, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaana, Sethan, Tharsis und Ahisahar;
Jediael’s son was Bilhan. Bilhan’s sons were Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish, and Ahishahar.
11 alle diese waren Söhne Jediaels, Familienhäupter, kriegstüchtige Männer, 17200, die kampfbereit ins Feld zogen. –
They were all leaders of clans descended from them. There were 17,200 of them who served in the army.
12 Und Suppim und Huppim waren Söhne Irs; Husim die Söhne Ahers.
Shuppim and Huppim were descendants of Ir. [One of] the descendants of Aher was Hushim.
13 Die Söhne Naphthalis waren: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer und Sallum, Nachkommen der Bilha.
Naphtali’s sons were Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. They were all descendants of [Jacob’s slave wife] Bilhah.
14 Die Söhne Manasses waren: Asriel, den sein syrisches Nebenweib gebar; sie gebar auch Machir, den Vater Gileads.
[This is a list of] Manasseh’s descendants. Manasseh had a slave wife who was from Syria. She was the mother of Asriel and Makir. Makir was the father of Gilead.
15 Machir nahm dann [für Huppim und Suppim] eine Frau namens Maacha, und seine Schwester hieß Hammolecheth; sein Bruder hieß Zelophhad, und dieser hatte nur Töchter.
Makir [had two wives]. They were from the clans of Huppim and Shuppim. One of Makir’s wives was named Maacah. Another descendant [of Makir] was Zelophehad. Zelophehad [had no sons; he] had only daughters.
16 Und Maacha, die Frau Machirs, gebar einen Sohn, den sie Peres nannte; sein Bruder aber hieß Seres, und dessen Söhne waren Ulam und Rekem.
Makir’s wife Maacah gave birth to two sons whom she named Peresh and Sheresh. Sheresh’s sons were Ulam and Rakem.
17 Die Söhne Ulams waren: Bedan. Dies sind die Söhne Gileads, des Sohnes Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses. –
Ulam’s son was Bedan. All those [men were considered to be] descendants of Gilead, who was the son of Makir and grandson of Manasseh.
18 Seine Schwester Hammolecheth aber gebar Ishod, Abieser und Mahla. –
Makir’s sister name was Hammoleketh who was the mother of Ishdod, Abiezer, and Mahlah.
19 Und die Söhne Semidas waren: Ahjan, Sichem, Likhi und Aniam.
[One son of Gilead was] Shemida, whose sons were Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam.
20 Die Söhne Ephraims waren: Suthelah; dessen Sohn war Bered, dessen Sohn Thahath, dessen Sohn Elada, dessen Sohn Thahath,
[This is a list of] the descendants of Ephraim. One son of Ephraim’s was Shuthelah. Shuthelah’s son was Bered. Bered’s son was Tahath. Tahath’s son was Eleadah. Eleadah’s son was [also named] Tahath.
21 dessen Sohn Sabad, dessen Sohn Suthelah und Eser und Elead. Die Bewohner von Gath aber, die Eingeborenen des Landes, erschlugen sie, weil sie hinabgezogen waren, um ihnen ihre Herden zu rauben.
Tahath’s son was Zabad. Zabad’s son was Shuthelah. [Ephraim’s other sons, ] Ezer and Elead, went to Gath [city] to steal some cows and sheep. But they were both killed by some of the men from that city.
22 Da trauerte ihr Vater Ephraim lange Zeit, und seine Brüder kamen, um ihn zu trösten.
Their father Ephraim cried/mourned for them for many days, and his family came to comfort him.

Then he and his wife had sex [EUP] [again], and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. Ephraim named him Beriah [which resembles the word ‘trouble’, ] because of the trouble that his family had experienced.
24 Seine Tochter aber war Seera; die erbaute das untere und das obere Beth-Horon und Ussen-Seera.
Ephraim’s daughter was Sheerah. Her workers built [three towns]: Lower Beth-Horon, Upper Beth-Horon, and Uzzen-Sheerah.
25 Dessen Sohn war Rephah, dessen Sohn Reseph, dessen Sohn Thelah, dessen Sohn Thahan,
[Another] son of Ephraim was Rephah. Rephah’s son was Resheph. Resheph’s son was Telah. Telah’s son was Tahan.
26 dessen Sohn Laedan, dessen Sohn Ammihud, dessen Sohn Elisama,
Tahan’s son was Ladan. Ladan’s son was Ammihud. Ammihud’s son was Elishama.
27 dessen Sohn Nun, dessen Sohn Josua.
Elishama’s son was Nun. Nun’s son was Joshua, [the man who led the Israelis after Moses died].
28 Ihr Erbbesitz aber und ihre Wohnsitze waren: Bethel samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften, und nach Osten hin Naaran und gegen Westen Geser samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften; sodann Sichem samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften bis nach Ajja samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften.
[This is a list of] the cities and areas where the descendants of Ephraim lived: Bethel and the nearby villages; Naaran to the east; Gezer to the west and the nearby villages; and Shechem and the nearby villages. Those villages extended [north] as far as Ayyah and the nearby villages.
29 Und im Besitz der Manassiten waren: Beth-Sean samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften, Thaanach samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften, Megiddo samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften, Dor samt den zugehörigen Ortschaften. In diesen wohnten die Nachkommen Josephs, des Sohnes Israels.
Along the border of the area where the descendants of Manasseh lived were these towns: Beth-Shan, Taanach, Megiddo, and Dor, and the nearby villages. The people who lived in all those places were descendants of Jacob’s son Joseph.
30 Die Söhne Assers waren: Jimna, Jiswa, Jiswi und Beria; ihre Schwester war Serah.
Asher’s sons were Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah. Their sister was Serah.
31 Die Söhne Berias waren: Heber und Malkiel, das ist der Stammvater von Birsajith.
Beriah’s sons were Heber and Malkiel. Malkiel was the father of Birzaith
32 Heber zeugte Japhlet, Semer, Hotham und ihre Schwester Sua.
Heber was the father of Japhlet, Shomer, and Hotham. Their sister was Shua.
33 Die Söhne Japhlets waren: Pasach, Bimhal und Aswath; dies waren die Söhne Japhlets;
Japhlet’s sons were Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath.
34 und die Söhne (seines Bruders) Semers: Ahi, Rohga, Hubba und Aram. –
Japhlet’s [younger] brother was Shomer. Shomer’s sons were Rohgah, Hubbah, and Aram.
35 Die Söhne seines Bruders Hotham waren: Zophah, Jimna, Seles und Amal.
Shomer’s [younger] brother was Hotham (OR, Helem). Hotham’s sons were Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Amal.
36 Die Söhne Zophahs waren: Suah, Harnepher, Sual, Beri, Jimra,
Zophah’s sons were Suah, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, Imrah,
37 Bezer, Hod, Samma, Silsa, Jithran und Beera;
Bezer, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, Ithran [whose other name was Jether], and Beera.
38 und die Söhne Jethers: Jephunne, Pispa und Ara. –
Jether’s sons were Jephunneh, Pispah, and Ara.
39 Die Söhne Ullas waren: Arah, Hanniel und Rizja.
[Another descendant of Asher was] Ulla, whose sons were Arah, Hanniel, and Rizia.
40 Diese alle waren Nachkommen Assers, Familienhäupter, auserlesene, kriegstüchtige Männer, Häupter unter den Fürsten; und die Zahl der aus ihnen für den Kriegsdienst Aufgezeichneten betrug 26000 Mann.
All those men were descendants of Asher, and they were all leaders of their clans. They were brave warriors and excellent leaders. In the record of the clans that are descended from Asher are [the names of] 26,000 men who served in the army.
