1 Chronik 22

1 Und David erklärte: »Dies hier muß das Haus Gottes, des HERRN, werden und dies der Brandopferaltar für Israel!«

And David said, This is the house of the Lord the [true] God, and this is the altar for the burnt-offering for Israel.

2 Hierauf befahl David, man solle die Fremdlinge, die sich im Lande Israel befanden, zusammenbringen, und er beschäftigte sie als Steinmetzen, um Quadersteine zum Bau des Tempels Gottes zuzuhauen.

And David ordered to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel: and he appointed [them] to be masons to hew cut stones to build the house of God.

3 Auch Eisen beschaffte David in Menge zu Nägeln für die Torflügel und zu Klammern, ebenso Kupfer in solcher Menge, daß man es nicht wägen konnte;

And iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings, did David prepare; and copper in abundance, [which] could not be weighed;

4 ferner zahllose Zedernstämme, denn die Sidonier und Tyrier brachten dem David Zedernholz in Menge.

Also cedar-trees [which] could not be counted; for the Zidonians and the Tyrians had brought cedar-trees in abundance to David.

5 David dachte nämlich: »Mein Sohn Salomo ist noch jung und zart, der Tempel aber, der dem HERRN erbaut werden soll, muß überaus großartig werden, damit er in der ganzen Welt berühmt und bewundert dasteht; darum will ich die zum Bau erforderlichen Vorbereitungen für ihn treffen.« So traf denn David vor seinem Tode Zurüstungen in Menge.

And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built [in honor] of the Lord must be exceedingly great, for fame and for glory throughout all the countries: I will therefore make preparation for it. So David made abundant preparation before his death.

6 Sodann ließ er seinen Sohn Salomo zu sich kommen und machte es ihm zur Pflicht, dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, einen Tempel zu erbauen.

And he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for the Lord the God of Israel.

7 Dabei richtete David folgende Worte an Salomo: »Mein Sohn! Ich selbst hatte die Absicht, dem Namen des HERRN, meines Gottes, einen Tempel zu erbauen;

And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house unto the name of the Lord my God;

8 aber da erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen: ›Du hast Blut in Menge vergossen und schwere Kriege geführt; du darfst meinem Namen kein Haus erbauen, weil du viel Blut vor meinen Augen zur Erde hast fließen lassen.

But there came concerning me the word of the Lord, saying, Blood in abundance hast thou shed, and great wars hast thou made: thou shalt not build a house unto my name, because much blood hast thou shed upon the earth before me.

9 Doch wisse: ein Sohn wird dir geboren werden, der wird ein Mann der Ruhe sein, und ich will ihm Ruhe vor all seinen Feinden ringsum schaffen; denn Salomo soll sein Name sein, und Frieden und Ruhe will ich in Israel während seiner Regierung herrschen lassen.

Behold, a son will be born to thee, he it is who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for Solomon [[The Peaceful]] shall be his name, and peace and quietness will I bestow on Israel in his days.

10 Der soll meinem Namen ein Haus erbauen; er soll mir als Sohn gelten und ich ihm als Vater, und seinen Königsthron über Israel will ich auf ewig feststellen.‹

He it is who shall build a house unto my name; and he shall be unto me as a son, and I will be unto him as a father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.

11 Nun denn, mein Sohn: der HERR wolle mit dir sein, damit es dir gelingt, den Tempel des HERRN, deines Gottes, zu erbauen, wie er es von dir verheißen hat!

Now, my son, may the Lord be with thee, that thou mayest prosper, and build the house of the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken concerning thee.

12 Nur möge der HERR dir Klugheit und Einsicht verleihen, wenn er dich zum Herrscher über Israel bestellt, und (wolle geben, ) daß du das Gesetz des HERRN, deines Gottes, beobachtest!

Only may the Lord give thee intelligence and understanding, and give thee charge over Israel, so that thou mayest observe the law of the Lord thy God.

13 Dann wirst du Glück haben, wenn du die Satzungen und Verordnungen gewissenhaft befolgst, die der HERR den Israeliten durch Mose geboten hat. Sei fest und stark! Fürchte dich nicht und laß dir nicht bange sein!

Then wilt thou prosper, if thou observe to practise the statutes and the ordinances which the Lord commanded Moses concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; be not afraid, nor be thou dismayed.

14 Siehe, trotz meines mühseligen Lebens habe ich für den Tempel des HERRN hunderttausend Talente Gold und eine Million Talente Silber beschafft, ferner an Kupfer und Eisen so viel, daß es nicht zu wägen ist: in solcher Menge ist es vorhanden; auch Holzstämme und Steine habe ich beschafft, und du wirst noch mehr dazutun.

And, behold, during my affliction have I prepared for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand times thousand talents of silver; and of copper and iron [as much as] cannot be weighed; for in [such] abundance was it: and wood and stone have I prepared; and thou must add thereto.

15 Auch Werkleute stehen dir in großer Zahl zur Verfügung: Steinmetzen, Maurer und Zimmerleute, kunstverständige Männer jeder Art für alle Arbeiten

Moreover there are with thee in abundance workmen, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of skilful men for every kind of work.

16 in Gold und Silber, in Kupfer und Eisen ohne Zahl. Wohlan, gehe ans Werk, und der HERR sei mit dir!«

The gold, the silver, and the copper, and the iron cannot be numbered: arise, [therefore, ] and be doing, and may the Lord be with thee.

17 Hierauf forderte David alle Obersten Israels auf, seinem Sohne Salomo hilfreich zur Seite zu stehen, mit den Worten:

And David gave a charge to all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, [saying, ]

18 »Ist nicht der HERR, euer Gott, mit euch gewesen, und hat er euch nicht ringsum Ruhe verschafft? Er hat ja die Bewohner des Landes in meine Gewalt gegeben, und das Land liegt unterworfen vor dem HERRN und seinem Volke da.

Behold the Lord your God is with you; and he hath given you rest on every side; for he hath given up into my hand the inhabitants of the land, and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before his people.

19 So richtet denn euer Herz und euren Sinn darauf, den HERRN, euren Gott, zu suchen, und macht euch daran, das Heiligtum Gottes, des HERRN, zu erbauen, damit ihr die Bundeslade des HERRN und die heiligen Geräte Gottes in den Tempel bringen könnt, der dem Namen des HERRN erbaut werden soll!«

Now direct your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; and arise, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord the [true] God, [in order] to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built unto the name of the Lord.
