1 Chronik 17
1 Als nun David in seinem Hause wohnte, sagte er (eines Tages) zu dem Propheten Nathan: »Bedenke doch: ich wohne hier in einem Zedernpalast, während die Lade mit dem Bundesgesetz des HERRN unter Zelttüchern steht.«
And it came to pass, when David had taken up his abode in his house, that David said unto Nathan the prophet, Lo! I, am dwelling in a house of cedars, but, the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, is under curtains.
2 Da antwortete Nathan dem David: »Führe alles aus, was du im Sinn hast, denn Gott ist mit dir!«
Then said Nathan unto David, All that is in thy heart, do, —for, God, is with thee.
3 Aber noch in derselben Nacht erging das Wort Gottes an Nathan folgendermaßen:
But so it was that, in that night, the word of God came unto Nathan, saying:
4 »Gehe hin und sage meinem Knecht David: ›So hat der HERR gesprochen: Nicht du sollst mir das Haus zur Wohnung bauen;
Go and say unto David my servant, Thus, saith Yahweh, —Thou, shalt not build me a house, to dwell in;
5 ich habe ja doch in keinem Hause gewohnt seit der Zeit, da ich die Israeliten aus Ägypten hergeführt habe, bis auf den heutigen Tag, sondern ich habe mich auf der Wanderung von einem Zelt zum andern und von einer Wohnung zur andern befunden.
seeing that I have not dwelt in a house, since the day that I brought up Israel, until this day, —but have been from tent to tent, and without a habitation.
6 Habe ich etwa, solange ich unter allen Israeliten umherzog, zu einem von den Richtern Israels, die ich zu Hirten meines Volkes bestellt hatte, jemals auch nur ein Wort derart gesagt: ›Warum habt ihr mir kein Zedernhaus gebaut?‹
Wheresoever I have wandered with all Israel, spake I ever, a word, with one of the judges of Israel, whom I charged to shepherd my people, saying, —Wherefore have ye not built me a house of cedars?
7 Darum sollst du jetzt meinem Knecht David folgendes sagen: ›So hat der HERR der Heerscharen gesprochen: Ich habe dich von der Weide hinter der Herde weggeholt, damit du Fürst über mein Volk Israel würdest;
Now, therefore, thus, shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, I myself, took thee from the pasture, from after the flock, —to become leader over my people Israel;
8 und ich bin bei allem, was du unternommen hast, mit dir gewesen und habe alle deine Feinde vor dir her ausgerottet und habe dir einen Namen geschaffen, wie ihn nur die Größten auf Erden haben.
and was with thee whithersoever thou didst go, and have cut off all thine enemies, from before thee, —and will make thee a name, like the name of the great ones, who are in the earth;
9 Und ich will meinem Volke Israel eine Stätte anweisen und es daselbst einpflanzen, daß es an seiner Stätte ruhig wohnen kann und sich nicht mehr zu ängstigen braucht und daß gewalttätige Menschen es nicht mehr aufreiben wie früher,
and will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall inhabit their place, and be unsettled no more, —neither shall the sons of perversity again wear them out, as at the first;
10 seit der Zeit, wo ich Richter über mein Volk Israel bestellt habe; sondern ich will alle deine Feinde demütigen und verkündige dir, daß der HERR dir ein Haus bauen wird.
even from the days when I put judges in charge over my people Israel, and have subdued all thine enemies, —that I might make thee great, yea, a house, will Yahweh build for thee.
11 Und wenn einst deine Tage voll sind, so daß du zu deinen Vätern hingehst, dann will ich nach deinem Tode deine Nachkommenschaft, und zwar einen von deinen Söhnen, zu deinem Nachfolger erheben und ihm sein Königtum befestigen.
And it shall be that, when thy days are fulfilled, to sleep with thy fathers, then will I raise up thy seed after thee, who shall be of thy sons, —and I will establish his kingdom.
12 Der soll mir dann ein Haus bauen, und ich will seinen Thron feststellen für immer.‹«
He, shall build me a house, —and I will establish his throne unto times age-abiding.
13 »›Ich will ihm Vater sein, und er soll mir Sohn sein, und ich will ihm meine Gnade nicht entziehen, wie ich sie deinem Vorgänger entzogen habe,
I, will become his father, and, he, shall become my son, —and, my lovingkindness, will I not cause to depart from him, —as I caused it to depart from him who was before thee;
14 sondern für immer will ich ihn über mein Haus und mein Königtum einsetzen, und sein Thron soll feststehen für immer!‹«
but I will cause him to remain over my house and over my kingdom, unto times age-abiding, —and, his throne, shall be established, unto times age-abiding.
15 Nachdem Nathan diesen Worten und dieser Offenbarung genau entsprechend zu David geredet hatte,
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so, spake Nathan unto David.
16 ging der König David (in das Gotteszelt) hinein, setzte sich vor dem HERRN nieder und betete: »Wer bin ich, HERR, mein Gott, und was ist mein Haus, daß du mich bis hierher gebracht hast!
Then entered King David, and tarried before Yahweh, —and said, Who am, I, O Yahweh God, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto;
17 Und dies hast du für noch nicht genügend gehalten, o Gott, sondern jetzt hast du auch in bezug auf das Haus deines Knechtes noch Verheißungen für ferne Zeiten gegeben und hast mich schauen lassen Geschlechter der Menschen, HERR, mein Gott.
and hast made this seem little in thine eyes, O God, in that thou hast spoken concerning the house of thy servant, for a great while to come? Thus wilt thou provide for me, according to the rank of manhood, and hast exalted me, O Yahweh God!
18 Was soll da David noch weiter zu dir sagen [von der Ehre an deinem Knechte]? Du selbst kennst ja deinen Knecht!
What, yet further, can David say unto thee, [thus] to honour thy servant, —seeing that, thou thyself, knowest, thine own servant?
19 HERR, um deines Knechtes willen und nach deinem Wohlgefallen hast du all dieses Große getan, um alle diese Großtaten kundwerden zu lassen.
O Yahweh, for the sake of thy servant, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this great thing, —making known all the great things.
20 HERR, niemand ist dir gleich, und es gibt keinen Gott außer dir nach allem, was wir mit eigenen Ohren vernommen haben.
O Yahweh, there is none like unto thee, yea there is no God besides thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21 Und wo ist ein anderes Volk, das deinem Volke Israel gliche? Es ist das einzige Volk auf Erden, um deswillen Gott hingegangen ist, es sich zum Eigentumsvolk zu erkaufen, um dir einen Namen zu schaffen durch große und wunderbare Taten, indem du vor deinem Volke, das du aus Ägypten erlöst hast, Heidenvölker vertriebst.
Who then is like thy people Israel, a nation alone in the earth, —whom God went to redeem, to be his own people, to make for thyself a name for great and fearful things, to drive out, nations, from before thy people, whom thou didst redeem out of Egypt;
22 So hast du denn dein Volk Israel für alle Zeiten zu deinem Volk bestimmt, und du, HERR, bist ihr Gott geworden.
and didst appoint thy people Israel for thyself as a people, unto times age-abiding, —thou thyself, also, O Yahweh, becoming their God?
23 Und nun, HERR – die Verheißung, die du in betreff deines Knechtes und seines Hauses ausgesprochen hast, möge für alle Zeiten gültig bleiben, und verfahre du so, wie du zugesagt hast!
Now, therefore, O Yahweh, the word which thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, be it steadfast unto times age-abiding, —and do as thou hast spoken:
24 Dann wird dein Name sich als treu erweisen und für immer geehrt sein, wenn man sagt: ›Der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels, ist der Gott für Israel‹; und das Haus deines Knechtes David wird Bestand vor dir haben!
yea let it be steadfast, and so let thy Name be magnified unto times age-abiding, saying, Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, is a God to Israel! seeing that, the house of David thy servant, is established before thee.
25 Denn du selbst, mein Gott, hast deinem Knechte die Offenbarung zuteil werden lassen, daß du ihm ein Haus bauen wollest; darum hat dein Knecht den Mut gefunden, dieses Gebet an dich zu richten.
For, thou, O my God, hast unveiled the ear of thy servant, that thou wilt build for him a house, —for this cause, hath thy servant found [it in his heart] to pray before thee.
26 Und nun, HERR, du bist Gott, und nachdem du deinem Knechte diese herrliche Zusage gemacht hast –
Now, therefore, O Yahweh, thou, art God, —therefore hast thou spoken concerning thy servant this goodness.
27 nun denn, so möge es dir auch gefallen, das Haus deines Knechtes zu segnen, damit es für immer vor dir bestehe! Denn was du, HERR, gesegnet hast, das ist gesegnet ewiglich!«
Now, therefore, let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be unto times age-abiding before thee, —for, thou O Yahweh, hast blessed, and it is to be blessed unto times age-abiding.
