1 Chronik 10
1 Als es aber zwischen den Philistern und Israeliten zur Schlacht kam, wurde die Mannschaft der Israeliten von den Philistern in die Flucht geschlagen, und (viele) Erschlagene lagen auf dem Gebirge Gilboa umher.
Now, the Philistines, fought against Israel, —and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and the wounded fell in Mount Gilboa.
2 Die Philister setzten dem Saul und seinen Söhnen hart nach und erschlugen Sauls Söhne Jonathan, Abinadab und Malchisua.
And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons, —and the Philistines smote Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, sons of Saul.
3 Als dann ein wilder Kampf gegen Saul entstand und die Bogenschützen ihn entdeckt hatten, wurde er von Angst vor den Schützen ergriffen.
And the battle, went sore, against Saul, and the archers discovered him with the bow, —and he was terrified because of the archers.
4 Da befahl Saul seinem Waffenträger: »Ziehe dein Schwert und durchbohre mich, damit nicht diese Heiden kommen und ihren Mutwillen an mir auslassen!« Aber sein Waffenträger weigerte sich, weil er sich zu sehr fürchtete. Da nahm Saul sein Schwert und stürzte sich hinein.
Therefore said Saul unto his armour-bearer, Draw out thy sword and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armour-bearer would not, for he feared greatly, —so then Saul took the sword, and fell upon it.
5 Als nun sein Waffenträger sah, daß Saul tot war, stürzte er sich gleichfalls ins Schwert und starb.
And, when his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, then, he also, fell upon the sword, and died.
6 So fanden Saul und seine drei Söhne den Tod: sein ganzes Haus kam gleichzeitig ums Leben.
So Saul died, and his three sons, and, all his house, together, died.
7 Als aber die gesamte israelitische Bevölkerung, die in der Ebene wohnte, gewahrte, daß die Israeliten geflohen waren und daß Saul mit seinen Söhnen gefallen war, verließen sie ihre Ortschaften und ergriffen die Flucht; da kamen die Philister und setzten sich darin fest.
And, when all the men of Israel that were in the vale saw, that they had fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then forsook they their cities, and fled, and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
8 Als dann am folgenden Tage die Philister kamen, um die Gefallenen auszuplündern, fanden sie Saul und seine Söhne auf dem Gebirge Gilboa liegen.
And it came to pass, on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, —that they found Saul, and his sons, lying prostrate in Mount Gilboa.
9 Da raubten sie ihn aus, nahmen seinen Kopf und seine Rüstung mit und sandten Boten in allen Teilen des Philisterlandes umher, um die Siegesbotschaft ihren Götzen und dem Volk zu verkünden.
So they stript him, and took his head, and his armour, —and sent throughout the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it to their idols, and to the people.
10 Seine Waffen legten sie im Tempel ihres Gottes nieder und nagelten seinen Schädel im Tempel Dagons an.
And they put his armour, in the house of their gods, —but, his skull, fastened they up, in the house of Dagon.
11 Als aber die gesamte Einwohnerschaft von Jabes in Gilead alles erfuhr, was die Philister an Sauls Leichnam verübt hatten,
And, when all Jabesh-Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
12 machten sich alle streitbaren Männer auf, nahmen den Leichnam Sauls und die Leichen seiner Söhne mit sich und brachten sie nach Jabes; dann begruben sie ihre Gebeine unter der Terebinthe in Jabes und fasteten sieben Tage lang.
then rose up all the men of valour, and took away the corpse of Saul, and the corpses of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, —and buried their bodies under the terebinth, in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13 So fand Saul den Tod infolge seiner Treulosigkeit, deren er sich gegen den HERRN schuldig gemacht hatte, weil er das Gebot des HERRN nicht beobachtet und auch, weil er eine Totenbeschwörerin aufgesucht hatte, um sie zu befragen,
Thus died Saul, for his unfaithfulness wherewith he dealt unfaithfully against Yahweh, over the word of Yahweh, which he kept not, —and, also, in asking by necromancy when he desired to enquire;
14 statt sich an den HERRN um eine Offenbarung zu wenden. Darum ließ dieser ihn ums Leben kommen und wandte das Königtum David, dem Sohne Isais, zu.
and enquired not of Yahweh, wherefore he slew him, —and turned round the kingdom unto David, son of Jesse.
