Psalm 55
1 Eine Unterweisung Davids, vorzusingen, auf Saitenspiel. Gott, erhöre mein Gebet und verbirg dich nicht vor meinem Flehen.
To the chief music-maker, on Neginoth. Maschil. Of David. Give hearing to my prayer, O God; and let not your ear be shut against my request.
2 Merke auf mich und erhöre mich, wie ich so kläglich zage und heule,
Give thought to me, and let my prayer be answered: I have been made low in sorrow;
3 daß der Feind so schreit und der Gottlose drängt; denn sie wollen mir eine Tücke beweisen und sind mir heftig gram.
I am troubled because of the voice of the cruel ones, because of the loud cry of the evil-doers; for they put a weight of evil on me, and they are cruel in their hate for me.
4 Mein Herz ängstet sich in meinem Leibe, und des Todes Furcht ist auf mich gefallen.
My heart is deeply wounded, and the fear of death has come on me.
5 Furcht und Zittern ist mich angekommen, und Grauen hat mich überfallen.
Fear and shaking have come over me, with deep fear I am covered.
6 Ich sprach: O hätte ich Flügel wie Tauben, da ich flöge und wo bliebe!
And I said, If only I had wings like a dove! for then I would go in flight from here and be at rest.
7 Siehe, so wollt ich ferne wegfliehen und in der Wüste bleiben. (Sela)
I would go wandering far away, living in the waste land. (Selah)
8 Ich wollte eilen, daß ich entrönne vor dem Sturmwind und Wetter.
I would quickly take cover from the driving storm and from the violent wind.
9 Mache ihre Zunge uneins, Herr, und laß sie untergehen; denn ich sehe Frevel und Hader in der Stadt.
Send destruction on them, O Lord, make a division of tongues among them: for I have seen fighting and violent acts in the town.
10 Solches geht Tag und Nacht um und um auf ihren Mauern, und Mühe und Arbeit ist drinnen.
By day and night they go round the town, on the walls; trouble and sorrow are in the heart of it.
11 Schadentun regieret drinnen; Lügen und Trügen läßt nicht von ihrer Gasse.
Evil is there; cruel rule and deceit are ever in the streets.
12 Wenn mich doch mein Feind schändete, wollte ich's leiden; und wenn mein Hasser wider mich pochte, wollte ich mich vor ihm verbergen.
For it was not my hater who said evil of me; that would have been no grief to me; it was not one outside the number of my friends who made himself strong against me, or I would have kept myself from him in a secret place;
13 Du aber bist mein Geselle, mein Freund und mein Verwandter,
But it was you, my equal, my guide, my well-loved friend.
14 die wir freundlich miteinander waren unter uns; wir wandelten im Hause Gottes unter der Menge.
We had loving talk together, and went to the house of God in company.
15 Der Tod übereile sie, daß sie lebendig in die Hölle fahren; denn es ist eitel Bosheit unter ihrem Haufen. (Sheol h7585)
Let the hand of death come on them suddenly, and let them go down living into the underworld; because evil is in their houses and in their hearts. (Sheol h7585)
16 Ich aber will zu Gott rufen, und der HERR wird mir helfen.
As for me, I will make my prayer to God, and he will be my saviour.
17 Des Abends, Morgens und Mittags will ich klagen und heulen, so wird er meine Stimme hören.
In the evening and in the morning and in the middle of the day I will make my prayer with sounds of grief; and my voice will come to his ears.
18 Er erlöst meine Seele von denen, die an mich wollen, und schafft ihr Ruhe; denn ihrer viele sind wider mich.
He has taken my soul away from the attack which was made against me, and given it peace; for great numbers were against me.
19 Gott wird hören und sie demütigen, der allewege bleibt. (Sela) Denn sie werden nicht anders und fürchten Gott nicht.
God will give thought to me; he who from early times is strong will send pain and trouble on them. (Selah) Because they are unchanged, they have no fear of God.
20 Sie legen ihre Hände an seine Friedsamen und entheiligen seinen Bund.
He has put out his hand against those who were at peace with him; he has not kept his agreement.
21 Ihr Mund ist glätter denn Butter, und sie haben Krieg im Sinn; ihre Worte sind gelinder denn Öl, und sind doch bloße Schwerter.
The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, but they were sharp swords.
22 Wirf dein Anliegen auf den HERRN; der wird dich versorgen und wird den Gerechten nicht ewiglich in Unruhe lassen.
Put your cares on the Lord, and he will be your support; he will not let the upright man be moved.
23 Aber, Gott, du wirst sie hinunterstoßen in die tiefe Grube: die Blutgierigen und Falschen werden ihr Leben nicht zur Hälfte bringen. Ich aber hoffe auf dich.
But you, O God, will send them down into the underworld; the cruel and the false will be cut off before half their days are ended; but I will have faith in you.
