Psalm 21

1 Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen. HERR, der König freut sich in deiner Kraft, und wie sehr fröhlich ist er über deine Hilfe!

For the Leader. A Psalm of David. O LORD, in Thy strength the king rejoiceth; and in Thy salvation how greatly doth he exult!

2 Du gibst ihm seines Herzens Wunsch und weigerst nicht, was sein Mund bittet. (Sela)

Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and the request of his lips Thou hast not withholden. (Selah)

3 Denn du überschüttest ihn mit gutem Segen; du setzt eine goldene Krone auf sein Haupt.

For Thou meetest him with choicest blessings; Thou settest a crown of fine gold on his head.

4 Er bittet Leben von dir; so gibst du ihm langes Leben immer und ewiglich.

He asked life of Thee, Thou gavest it him; even length of days for ever and ever.

5 Er hat große Ehre an deiner Hilfe; du legst Lob und Schmuck auf ihn.

His glory is great through Thy salvation; honour and majesty dost Thou lay upon him.

6 Denn du setzest ihn zum Segen ewiglich; du erfreuest ihn mit Freude vor deinem Antlitz.

For Thou makest him most blessed for ever; Thou makest him glad with joy in Thy presence.

7 Denn der König hofft auf den HERRN und wird durch die Güte des HERRN fest bleiben.

For the king trusteth in the LORD, yea, in the mercy of the Most High; he shall not be moved.

8 Deine Hand wird finden alle deine Feinde; deine Rechte wird finden, die dich hassen.

Thy hand shall be equal to all thine enemies; thy right hand shall overtake those that hate thee.

9 Du wirst sie machen wie ein Feuerofen, wenn du dreinsehen wirst; der HERR wird sie verschlingen in seinem Zorn; Feuer wird sie fressen.

Thou shalt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thine anger; the LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

10 Ihre Frucht wirst du umbringen vom Erdboden und ihren Samen von den Menschenkindern.

Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.

11 Denn sie gedachten dir Übles zu tun und machten Anschläge, die sie nicht konnten ausführen.

For they intended evil against thee, they imagined a device, wherewith they shall not prevail.

12 Denn du wirst machen, daß sie den Rücken kehren; mit deiner Sehne wirst du gegen ihr Antlitz zielen.

For thou shalt make them turn their back, thou shalt make ready with thy bowstrings against the face of them.

13 HERR, erhebe dich in deiner Kraft, so wollen wir singen und loben deine Macht.

Be Thou exalted, O LORD, in Thy strength; so will we sing and praise Thy power.
