Psalm 116

1 Das ist mir lieb, daß der HERR meine Stimme und mein Flehen hört.

I love Jehovah, because he heareth My voice and my supplications.

2 Denn er neigte sein Ohr zu mir; darum will ich mein Leben lang ihn anrufen.

Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, Therefore will I call [upon him] as long as I live.

3 Stricke des Todes hatten mich umfangen, und Ängste der Hölle hatten mich getroffen; ich kam in Jammer und Not. (Sheol h7585)

The cords of death compassed me, And the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. (Sheol h7585)

4 Aber ich rief an den Namen des HERRN: O HERR, errette mein Seele!

Then called I upon the name of Jehovah: O Jehovah, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

5 Der HERR ist gnädig und gerecht, und unser Gott ist barmherzig.

Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous; Yea, our God is merciful.

6 Der HERR behütet die Einfältigen; wenn ich unterliege, so hilft er mir.

Jehovah preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he saved me.

7 Sei nun wieder zufrieden, meine Seele; denn der HERR tut dir Gutes.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; For Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 Denn du hast meine Seele aus dem Tode gerissen, meine Augen von den Tränen, meinen Fuß vom Gleiten.

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, Mine eyes from tears, [And] my feet from falling.

9 Ich werde wandeln vor dem HERRN im Lande der Lebendigen.

I will walk before Jehovah In the land of the living.

10 Ich glaube, darum rede ich; ich werde aber sehr geplagt.

I believe, for I will speak: I was greatly afflicted:

11 Ich sprach in meinem Zagen: Alle Menschen sind Lügner.

I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12 Wie soll ich dem HERRN vergelten alle seine Wohltat, die er an mir tut?

What shall I render unto Jehovah For all his benefits toward me?

13 Ich will den Kelch des Heils nehmen und des HERRN Namen predigen.

I will take the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of Jehovah.

14 Ich will mein Gelübde dem HERRN bezahlen vor allem seinem Volk.

I will pay my vows unto Jehovah, Yea, in the presence of all his people.

15 Der Tod seiner Heiligen ist wertgehalten vor dem HERRN.

Precious in the sight of Jehovah Is the death of his saints.

16 O HERR, ich bin dein Knecht; ich bin dein Knecht, deiner Magd Sohn. Du hast meine Bande zerrissen.

O Jehovah, truly I am thy servant: I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid; Thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 Dir will ich Dank opfern und des HERRN Namen predigen.

I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of Jehovah.

18 Ich will meine Gelübde dem HERRN bezahlen vor allem seinem Volk,

I will pay my vows unto Jehovah, Yea, in the presence of all his people,

19 in den Höfen am Hause des HERRN, in dir Jerusalem. Halleluja!

In the courts of Jehovah’s house, In the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye Jehovah.
