Richter 17
1 Es war ein Mann auf dem Gebirge Ephraim, mit Namen Micha.
And there is a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name [is] Micah,
2 Der sprach zu seiner Mutter: Die tausendundhundert Silberlinge, die dir genommen worden sind und derenthalben du den Fluch gesprochen und auch vor meinen Ohren gesagt hast, sieh, das Geld ist bei mir; ich habe es genommen. Da sprach sein Mutter: Gesegnet sei mein Sohn dem HERRN!
and he says to his mother, “The eleven hundred pieces of silver which have been taken of yours, and [of which] you have sworn, and also spoken in my ears; behold, the silver [is] with me, I have taken it”; and his mother says, “Blessed [is] my son of YHWH.”
3 Also gab er seiner Mutter die tausendundhundert Silberlinge wieder. Und seine Mutter sprach: Ich habe das Geld dem HERRN geheiligt von meiner Hand für meinen Sohn, daß man ein Bildnis und einen Abgott machen soll; darum so gebe ich's dir nun wieder.
And he gives back the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother says, “I had certainly sanctified the silver to YHWH, from my hand, for my son, to make a carved image, and a molten image; and now, I give it back to you.”
4 Aber er gab seiner Mutter das Geld wieder. Da nahm seine Mutter zweihundert Silberlinge und tat sie zu dem Goldschmied; der machte ihr ein Bild und einen Abgott, das war darnach im Hause Michas.
And he gives back the money to his mother, and his mother takes two hundred pieces of silver, and gives them to a refiner, and he makes them a carved image, and a molten image, and it is in the house of Micah.
5 Und der Mann Micha hatte also ein Gotteshaus; und machte einen Leibrock und Hausgötzen und füllte seiner Söhne einem die Hand, daß er sein Priester ward.
As for the man Micah, he has a house of gods, and he makes an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrates the hand of one of his sons, and he is for a priest to him;
6 Zu der Zeit war kein König in Israel, und ein jeglicher tat, was ihn recht deuchte.
in those days there is no king in Israel, each does that which is right in his own eyes.
7 Es war aber ein Jüngling von Bethlehem-Juda unter dem Geschlecht Juda's, und er war ein Levit und war fremd daselbst.
And there is a young man of Beth-Lehem-Judah, of the family of Judah, and he [is] a Levite, and he [is] a sojourner there.
8 Er zog aus der Stadt Bethlehem-Juda, zu wandern, wo er hin konnte. Und da er aufs Gebirge Ephraim kam zum Hause Michas, daß er seinen Weg ginge,
And the man goes out of the city, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah, to sojourn where he finds, and comes to the hill-country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, to work his way.
9 fragte ihn Micha: Wo kommst du her? Er antwortete ihm: Ich bin ein Levit von Bethlehem-Juda und wandere, wo ich hin kann.
And Micah says to him, “Where do you come from?” And he says to him, “I [am] a Levite of Beth-Lehem-Judah, and I am going to sojourn where I find.”
10 Micha aber sprach zu ihm: Bleibe bei mir, du sollst mein Vater und mein Priester sein; ich will dir jährlich zehn Silberlinge und deine Kleidung und Nahrung geben. Und der Levit ging hin.
And Micah says to him, “Dwell with me, and be for a father and for a priest to me, and I give ten pieces of silver to you for the days, and a suit of garments, and your sustenance”; and the Levite goes [in].
11 Der Levit trat an, zu bleiben bei dem Mann; und er hielt den Jüngling gleich wie einen Sohn.
And the Levite is willing to dwell with the man, and the young man is to him as one of his sons.
12 Und Micha füllte dem Leviten die Hand, daß er sein Priester ward, und war also im Haus Michas.
And Micah consecrates the hand of the Levite, and the young man is for a priest to him, and he is in the house of Micah,
13 Und Micha sprach: Nun weiß ich, daß mir der HERR wird wohltun, weil ich einen Leviten zum Priester habe.
and Micah says, “Now I have known that YHWH does good to me, for the Levite has been for a priest to me.”
