Jona 2
1 Und Jona betete zu dem HERRN, seinem Gott, im Leibe des Fisches.
Then Jonah prayed to Jehovah from the belly of the fish,
2 Und sprach: Ich rief zu dem HERRN in meiner Angst, und er antwortete mir; ich schrie aus dem Bauche der Hölle, und du hörtest meine Stimme. (Sheol h7585)
and said: — I cried by reason of my distress to Jehovah, And he heard me: Out of the depth of the under-world I cried, And thou didst hear my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 Du warfest mich in die Tiefe mitten im Meer, daß die Fluten mich umgaben; alle deine Wogen und Wellen gingen über mich,
Thou didst cast me into the deep, into the heart of the sea, And the flood compassed me about; All thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
4 daß ich gedachte, ich wäre von deinen Augen verstoßen, ich würde deinen heiligen Tempel nicht mehr sehen.
And I said, “I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again to thy holy temple!”
5 Wasser umgaben mich bis an mein Leben, die Tiefe umringte mich; Schilf bedeckte mein Haupt.
The waters compassed me about, even to the life, The deep enclosed me round about; Sea-weeds were bound around my head;
6 Ich sank hinunter zu der Berge Gründen, die Erde hatte mich verriegelt ewiglich; aber du hast mein Leben aus dem Verderben geführt, HERR, mein Gott.
I sank down to the foundations of the mountains; The bars of the earth were about me forever; Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah, my God!
7 Da meine Seele bei mir verzagte, gedachte ich an den HERRN; und mein Gebet kam zu dir in deinen heiligen Tempel.
When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah, And my prayer came to thee, To thy holy temple.
8 Die da halten an dem Nichtigen, verlassen ihre Gnade.
They that honor lying vanities forsake their mercy;
9 Ich aber will mit Dank dir opfern, mein Gelübde will ich bezahlen; denn die Hilfe ist des HERRN.
But I will sacrifice to thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed; Salvation is from Jehovah.
10 Und der HERR sprach zum Fisch, und der spie Jona aus ans Land.
And Jehovah commanded the fish, and it cast out Jonah upon the dry land.
