Job 23
1 Hiob antwortete und sprach:
Bvt Iob answered and sayd,
2 Meine Rede bleibt noch betrübt; meine Macht ist schwach über meinem Seufzen.
Though my talke be this day in bitternes, and my plague greater then my groning,
3 Ach daß ich wüßte, wie ich ihn finden und zu seinem Stuhl kommen möchte
Would God yet I knew how to finde him, I would enter vnto his place.
4 und das Recht vor ihm sollte vorlegen und den Mund voll Verantwortung fassen
I would pleade the cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
5 und erfahren die Reden, die er mir antworten, und vernehmen, was er mir sagen würde!
I would knowe the wordes, that he would answere me, and would vnderstand what he would say vnto me.
6 Will er mit großer Macht mit mir rechten? Er stelle sich nicht so gegen mich,
Would he plead against me with his great power? No, but he would put strength in me.
7 sondern lege mir's gleich vor, so will ich mein Recht wohl gewinnen.
There the righteous might reason with him, so I shoulde be deliuered for euer from my Iudge.
8 Aber ich gehe nun stracks vor mich, so ist er nicht da; gehe ich zurück, so spüre ich ihn nicht;
Behold, if I go to the East, he is not there: if to the West, yet I can not perceiue him:
9 ist er zur Linken, so schaue ich ihn nicht; verbirgt er sich zur Rechten, so sehe ich ihn nicht.
If to the North where he worketh, yet I cannot see him: he wil hide himselfe in the South, and I cannot beholde him.
10 Er aber kennt meinen Weg wohl. Er versuche mich, so will ich erfunden werden wie das Gold.
But he knoweth my way, and trieth mee, and I shall come forth like the gold.
11 Denn ich setze meinen Fuß auf seine Bahn und halte seinen Weg und weiche nicht ab
My foote hath followed his steps: his way haue I kept, and haue not declined.
12 und trete nicht von dem Gebot seiner Lippen und bewahre die Rede seines Mundes mehr denn mein eigen Gesetz.
Neyther haue I departed from the commandement of his lippes, and I haue esteemed the words of his mouth more then mine appointed foode.
13 Doch er ist einig; wer will ihm wehren? Und er macht's wie er will.
Yet he is in one minde, and who can turne him? yea, he doeth what his minde desireth.
14 Denn er wird vollführen, was mir bestimmt ist, und hat noch viel dergleichen im Sinne.
For he will performe that, which is decreed of me, and many such things are with him.
15 Darum erschrecke ich vor ihm; und wenn ich's bedenke, so fürchte ich mich vor ihm.
Therefore I am troubled at his presence, and in considering it, I am afraid of him.
16 Gott hat mein Herz blöde gemacht, und der Allmächtige hat mich erschreckt.
For God hath softened mine heart, and the Almightie hath troubled me.
17 Denn die Finsternis macht kein Ende mit mir, und das Dunkel will vor mir nicht verdeckt werden.
For I am not cut off in darknesse, but he hath hid the darkenesse from my face.
