Job 18
1 Da antwortete Bildad von Suah und sprach:
Then answered Bildad the Shuchite, and said,
2 Wann wollt ihr der Reden ein Ende machen? Merkt doch; darnach wollen wir reden.
When will ye at length put an end to words? Come to an understanding, and afterward let us speak.
3 Warum werden wir geachtet wie Vieh und sind so unrein vor euren Augen?
For what cause are we counted as beasts, reputed stupid your eyes?
4 Willst du vor Zorn bersten? Meinst du, daß um deinetwillen die Erde verlassen werde und der Fels von seinem Ort versetzt werde?
Thou, the one that teareth himself to pieces in his anger— shall for thy sake the earth be forsaken, and the rock be moved away out of its place?
5 Und doch wird das Licht der Gottlosen verlöschen, und der Funke seines Feuers wird nicht leuchten.
Ah, truly the light of the wicked will be quenched, and the spark of his fire shall not give light.
6 Das Licht wird finster werden in seiner Hütte, und seine Leuchte über ihm verlöschen.
The light becometh dark in his tent, and his lamp will be quenched above him.
7 Seine kräftigen Schritte werden in die Enge kommen, und sein Anschlag wird ihn fällen.
His powerful steps will be narrowed, and his own counsel will cast him down.
8 Denn er ist mit seinen Füßen in den Strick gebracht und wandelt im Netz.
For he is driven into the net by his own feet, and he taketh his walk upon a snare.
9 Der Strick wird seine Ferse halten, und die Schlinge wird ihn erhaschen.
The trap will seize him by the heel, and the robber will prevail over him.
10 Sein Strick ist gelegt in die Erde, und seine Falle auf seinem Gang.
The cord is hidden for him in the ground, and a trap is set for him on the pathway.
11 Um und um wird ihn schrecken plötzliche Furcht, daß er nicht weiß, wo er hinaus soll.
All around do terrors scare him, and chase him as he walketh along.
12 Hunger wird seine Habe sein, und Unglück wird ihm bereit sein und anhangen.
His first-born will suffer hunger, and calamity will be ready for his wife.
13 Die Glieder seines Leibes werden verzehrt werden; seine Glieder wird verzehren der Erstgeborene des Todes.
It will devour the limbs of his body: yea, the first-born of death will devour his limbs.
14 Seine Hoffnung wird aus seiner Hütte ausgerottet werden, und es wird ihn treiben zum König des Schreckens.
Then will be plucked up out of his tent his confidence, and [the evil] will urge him forward to the king of terrors.
15 In seiner Hütte wird nichts bleiben; über seine Stätte wird Schwefel gestreut werden.
It will dwell in his tent, because it is no more his: there will be strewed sulphur on his habitation.
16 Von unten werden verdorren seine Wurzeln, und von oben abgeschnitten seine Zweige.
Beneath, his roots will be dried up, and above will his boughs he cut away.
17 Sein Gedächtnis wird vergehen in dem Lande, und er wird keinen Namen haben auf der Gasse.
His resemblance vanisheth from the earth, and no name remaineth for him in the streets.
18 Er wird vom Licht in die Finsternis vertrieben und vom Erdboden verstoßen werden.
Men will thrust him out from light into darkness, and out of the world will they drive him.
19 Er wird keine Kinder haben und keine Enkel unter seinem Volk; es wird ihm keiner übrigbleiben in seinen Gütern.
He will have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any that escapeth in the places of his sojourning.
20 Die nach ihm kommen, werden sich über seinen Tag entsetzen; und die vor ihm sind, wird eine Furcht ankommen.
Because of his [calamitous] day are they that come after him astonished, and they that went before are seized with shuddering.
21 Das ist die Wohnung des Ungerechten; und dies ist die Stätte des, der Gott nicht achtet.
Yea, such are the dwellings of the unjust, and this is the place of one that knew not God.
