Jeremia 42

1 Da traten herzu alle Hauptleute des Heeres, Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, Jesanja, der Sohn Hosajas, samt dem ganzen Volk, klein und groß,

Then all the captaines of the hoste, and Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and Iezaniah the sonne of Hoshaaiah, and all the people from the least vnto the most came,

2 und sprachen zum Propheten Jeremia: Laß doch unser Gebet vor dir gelten und bitte für uns den HERRN, deinen Gott, für alle diese Übrigen (denn unser ist leider wenig geblieben von vielen, wie du uns selbst siehst mit deinen Augen),

And saide vnto Ieremiah the Prophete, Heare our prayer, we beseeche thee, and pray for vs vnto the Lord thy God, euen for all this remnant (for we are left, but a fewe of many, as thine eyes doe beholde)

3 daß uns der HERR, dein Gott, wolle anzeigen, wohin wir ziehen und was wir tun sollen.

That the Lord thy God may shewe vs the way wherein wee may walke, and the thing that we may doe.

4 Und der Prophet Jeremia sprach zu ihnen: Wohlan, ich will gehorchen; und siehe, ich will den HERRN, euren Gott, bitten, wie ihr gesagt habt; und alles, was euch der HERR antworten wird, das will ich euch anzeigen und will euch nichts verhalten.

Then Ieremiah the Prophet said vnto them, I haue heard you: behold, I will pray vnto ye Lord your God according to your wordes, and whatsoeuer thing the Lord shall answere you, I will declare it vnto you: I will keepe nothing backe from you.

5 Und sie sprachen zu Jeremia: Der HERR sei ein gewisser und wahrhaftiger Zeuge zwischen uns, wo wir nicht tun werden alles, was dir der HERR, dein Gott, an uns befehlen wird.

Then they said to Ieremiah, The Lord be a witnesse of trueth, and faith betweene vs, if we doe not, euen according to all things for ye which the Lord thy God shall send thee to vs.

6 Es sei Gutes oder Böses, so wollen wir gehorchen der Stimme des HERRN, unsers Gottes, zu dem wir dich senden; auf daß es uns wohl gehe, so wir der Stimme des HERRN, unsers Gottes, gehorchen.

Whether it be good or euill, we will obey the voyce of the Lord God, to whom we sende thee that it may be well with vs, when wee obey the voyce of the Lord our God.

7 Und nach zehn Tagen geschah des HERRN Wort zu Jeremia.

And so after ten dayes came the word of the Lord vnto Ieremiah.

8 Da rief er Johanan, den Sohn Kareahs, und alle Hauptleute des Heeres, die bei ihm waren, und alles Volk, klein und groß,

Then called he Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste, which were with him, and all ye people from ye least to the most,

9 und sprach zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels, zu dem ihr mich gesandt habt, daß ich euer Gebet vor ihn sollte bringen:

And saide vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, vnto whom ye sent me to present your prayers before him,

10 Werdet ihr in diesem Lande bleiben, so will ich euch bauen und nicht zerbrechen; ich will euch pflanzen und nicht ausreuten; denn es hat mich schon gereut das Übel, das ich euch getan habe.

If ye will dwell in this land, then I wil build you, and not destroy you, and I will plant you, and not roote you out: for I repent me of the euill that I haue done vnto you.

11 Ihr sollt euch nicht fürchten vor dem König zu Babel, vor dem ihr euch fürchtet, spricht der HERR; ihr sollt euch vor ihm nicht fürchten, denn ich will bei euch sein, daß ich euch helfe und von seiner Hand errette.

Feare not for the King of Babel, of whom ye are afraide: be not afraid of him, saith the Lord: for I am with you, to saue you, and to deliuer you from his hand,

12 Ich will euch Barmherzigkeit erzeigen und mich über euch erbarmen und euch wieder in euer Land bringen.

And I will graunt you mercie that he may haue compassion vpon you, and he shall cause you to dwell in your owne land.

13 Werdet ihr aber sagen: Wir wollen nicht in diesem Lande bleiben, damit ihr ja nicht gehorcht der Stimme des HERRN, eures Gottes,

But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land, neither heare the voyce of the Lord your God,

14 sondern sagen: Nein, wir wollen nach Ägyptenland ziehen, daß wir keinen Krieg sehen noch der Posaune Schall hören und nicht Hunger Brots halben leiden müssen; daselbst wollen wir bleiben:

Saying, Nay, but we will goe into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no warre, nor heare the sounde of the trumpet, nor haue hunger of bread, and there will we dwell,

15 nun so hört des HERRN Wort, ihr übrigen aus Juda! So spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Werdet ihr euer Angesicht richten, nach Ägyptenland zu ziehen, daß ihr daselbst bleiben wollt,

(And nowe therefore heare the worde of the Lord, ye remnant of Iudah: thus sayeth the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, If ye set your faces to enter into Egypt, and goe to dwell there)

16 so soll euch das Schwert, vor dem ihr euch fürchtet, in Ägyptenland treffen, und der Hunger, des ihr euch besorgt, soll stets hinter euch her sein in Ägypten, und sollt daselbst sterben.

Then the sworde that ye feared, shall take you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, for the which ye care, shall there hang vpon you in Egypt, and there shall ye die.

17 Denn sie seien, wer sie wollen, die ihr Angesicht richten, daß sie nach Ägypten ziehen, daselbst zu bleiben, die sollen sterben durchs Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz, und soll keiner übrigbleiben noch entrinnen dem Übel, das ich über sie will kommen lassen.

And all the men that set their faces to enter into Egypt to dwell there, shall die by ye sword, by the famine and by the pestilence, and none of them shall remaine nor escape from the plague, that I will bring vpon them.

18 Denn so spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Gleichwie mein Zorn und Grimm über die Einwohner zu Jerusalem ausgeschüttet ist, so soll er auch über euch ausgeschüttet werden, wo ihr nach Ägypten zieht, daß ihr zum Fluch, zum Wunder, Schwur und Schande werdet und diese Stätte nicht mehr sehen sollt.

For thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, As mine anger and my wrath hath bene powred foorth vpon the inhabitants of Ierusalem: so shall my wrath be powred foorth vpon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt, and ye shall be a detestation, and an astonishment, and a curse and a reproche, and ye shall see this place no more.

19 Das Wort des HERRN gilt euch, ihr übrigen aus Juda, daß ihr nicht nach Ägypten zieht. Darum so wisset, daß ich euch heute bezeuge;

O ye remnant of Iudah, the Lord hath said concerning you, Goe not into Egypt: knowe certeinely that I haue admonished you this day.

20 ihr werdet sonst euer Leben verwahrlosen. Denn ihr habt mich gesandt zum HERRN, eurem Gott, und gesagt: Bitte den HERRN, unsern Gott, für uns; und alles, was der HERR, unser Gott, sagen wird, das zeige uns an, so wollen wir darnach tun.

Surely ye dissembled in your hearts When ye sent me vnto the Lord your God, saying, Pray for vs vnto the Lord our God, and declare vnto vs euen according vnto al that the Lord our God shall say, and we will doe it.

21 Das habe ich euch heute zu wissen getan; aber ihr wollt der Stimme des HERRN, eures Gottes, nicht gehorchen noch alle dem, das er mir befohlen hat.

Therefore I haue this day declared it you, but you haue not obeyed the voyce of the Lord your God, nor any thing for the which he hath sent me vnto you.

22 So sollt ihr nun wissen, daß ihr durch Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz sterben müßt an dem Ort, dahin ihr gedenkt zu ziehen, daß ihr daselbst wohnen wollt.

Nowe therefore, knowe certeinely that ye shall die by the sworde, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither ye desire to goe and dwell.
