Haggai 2

1 Am einundzwanzigsten Tage des siebenten Monats geschah des HERRN Wort durch den Propheten Haggai und sprach:

In the seventh month, on the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by the prophet Haggai, saying:

2 Sage zu Serubabel, dem Sohn Sealthiels, dem Fürsten Juda's, und zu Josua, dem Sohn Jozadaks, dem Hohenpriester, und zum übrigen Volk und sprich:

Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Josedech, the high-priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying: —

3 Wer ist unter euch übriggeblieben, der dies Haus in seiner vorigen Herrlichkeit gesehen hat? und wie seht ihr's nun an? Ist's nicht also, es dünkt euch nichts zu sein?

Who is there left among you, That saw this house In its former glory? And what do ye see it now? Is it not as nothing in your eyes?

4 Und nun Serubabel, sei getrost! spricht der HERR; sei getrost, Josua, du Sohn Jozadaks, du Hoherpriester! sei getrost alles Volk im Lande! spricht der HERR, und arbeitet! denn ich bin mit euch, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.

Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith Jehovah; And be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high-priest; And be strong, O all ye people of the land, saith Jehovah, and work! For I am with you, saith Jehovah of hosts.

5 Nach dem Wort, da ich mit euch einen Bund machte, da ihr aus Ägypten zogt, soll mein Geist unter euch bleiben. Fürchtet euch nicht!

This is the covenant which I made with you when ye came out of Egypt, And my spirit remaineth among you: Fear ye not!

6 Denn so spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Es ist noch ein kleines dahin, daß ich Himmel und Erde, das Meer und das Trockene bewegen werde.

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet once more, in a short time, I will shake the heavens and the earth, The sea and the dry land.

7 Ja, alle Heiden will ich bewegen. Da soll dann kommen aller Heiden Bestes; und ich will dies Haus voll Herrlichkeit machen, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.

I will shake all the nations, And here shall come the precious things of all the nations; And I will fill this house with glory, Saith Jehovah of hosts.

8 Denn mein ist Silber und Gold, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.

Mine is the silver and mine the gold, Saith Jehovah of hosts;

9 Es soll die Herrlichkeit dieses letzten Hauses größer werden, denn des ersten gewesen ist, spricht der HERR Zebaoth; und ich will Frieden geben an diesem Ort, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.

Greater shall be the glory of this latter house than of the former, Saith Jehovah of hosts; And in this place will I give peace, Saith Jehovah of hosts.

10 Am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des neunten Monats, im zweiten Jahr des Darius, geschah des HERRN Wort zu dem Propheten Haggai und sprach:

On the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,

11 So spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Frage die Priester um das Gesetz und sprich:

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ask now the law from the priests, saying,

12 Wenn jemand heiliges Fleisch trüge in seines Kleides Zipfel und rührte darnach an mit seinem Zipfel Brot, Gemüse, Wein, Öl oder was es für Speise wäre: würde es auch heilig? und die Priester antworteten und sprachen: Nein.

If a man carry holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

13 Haggai sprach: Wo aber jemand von einem Toten unrein wäre und deren eines anrührte, würde es auch unrein? Die Priester antworteten und sprachen: Es würde unrein.

Then said Haggai, If a man unclean by a dead body touch any of these things, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

14 Da antwortete Haggai und sprach: Ebenalso sind dies Volk und diese Leute vor mir auch, spricht der HERR; und all ihrer Hände Werk und was sie opfern ist unrein.

Then answered Haggai and said: — So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith Jehovah; And so is all the work of their hands; And that which they offer there is unclean.

15 Und nun schauet, wie es euch gegangen ist von diesem Tage an und zuvor, ehe denn ein Stein auf den andern gelegt ward am Tempel des HERRN:

And now, I pray you, consider [[how it hath gone with you]] From that day and upward, From the time before one stone was laid upon another in the temple of Jehovah.

16 daß, wenn einer zum Kornhaufen kam, der zwanzig Maß haben sollte, so waren kaum zehn da; kam er zur Kelter und meinte fünfzig Eimer zu schöpfen, so waren kaum zwanzig da.

Since that time one hath come to a heap of twenty measures, And there were but ten; One hath come to a vat to draw out fifty vessels from the wine-press, And there were but twenty;

17 Denn ich plagte euch mit Dürre, Brandkorn und Hagel in all eurer Arbeit; dennoch kehrtet ihr euch nicht zu mir, spricht der HERR.

I have smitten you with blasting, with mildew, and with hail, Even all the works of your hands; Yet none among you hath turned to me, saith Jehovah.

18 So schauet nun darauf von diesem Tage an und zuvor, nämlich von dem vierundzwanzigsten Tage des neunten Monats bis an den Tag, da der Tempel gegründet ist; schauet darauf!

Consider, I pray you, From that day and upward, From the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, From the day when the foundation of the temple of Jehovah was laid, Consider ye!

19 Denn kein Same liegt mehr in der Scheuer, so hat auch weder Weinstock, Feigenbaum, Granatbaum noch Ölbaum getragen; aber von diesem Tage an will ich Segen geben.

Is there yet seed in the barn? Yea, as yet the vine, and the fig-tree, and pomegranate, and the olive-tree have not borne. But from this day will I bless you.

20 Und des HERRN Wort geschah zum andernmal zu Haggai am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des Monats und sprach:

And the word of Jehovah came the second time to Haggai, on the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

21 Sage Serubabel, dem Fürsten Juda's, und sprich: Ich will Himmel und Erde bewegen

Speak to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, and say: — I will shake the heavens and the earth,

22 und will die Stühle der Königreiche umkehren und die mächtigen Königreiche der Heiden vertilgen und will die Wagen mit ihren Reitern umkehren, daß Roß und Mann fallen sollen, ein jeglicher durch des andern Schwert.

And I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms, And I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations, And I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them, And the horses and their riders shall come down, One by the sword of the other.

23 Zur selben Zeit, spricht der HERR Zebaoth, will ich dich, Serubabel, du Sohn Sealthiels, meinen Knecht, nehmen, spricht der HERR, und will dich wie einen Siegelring halten; denn ich habe dich erwählt, spricht der HERR Zebaoth.

In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will take thee, O Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, my servant, saith Jehovah, And keep thee as a signet-ring; For thee have I chosen, saith Jehovah of hosts.
