1 Mose 44

1 Und Joseph befahl seinem Haushalter und sprach: Fülle den Männern ihre Säcke mit Speise, soviel sie führen können, lege jeglichem sein Geld oben in seinen Sack;

Afterward he commanded his steward, saying, Fill the mens sackes with foode, as much as they can carry, and put euery mans money in his sackes mouth.

2 und meinen silbernen Becher lege oben in des Jüngsten Sack mit dem Gelde für das Getreide. Der tat, wie ihm Joseph gesagt hatte.

And put my cup, I meane the siluer cup, in the sackes mouth of the yongest, and his corne money. And he did according to the commandement that Ioseph gaue him.

3 Des Morgens, da es licht ward, ließen sie die Männer ziehen mit ihren Eseln.

And in the morning the men were sent away, they, and their asses.

4 Da sie aber zur Stadt hinaus waren und nicht ferne gekommen, sprach Joseph zu seinem Haushalter: Auf jage den Männern nach! und wenn du sie ereilst, so sprich zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr Gutes mit Bösem vergolten?

And when they went out of the citie not farre off, Ioseph sayd to his stewarde, Vp, follow after the men: and when thou doest ouertake them, say vnto them, Wherefore haue ye rewarded euill for good?

5 Ist's nicht das, daraus mein Herr trinkt und damit er weissagt? Ihr habt übel getan.

Is that not the cuppe, wherein my Lord drinketh? and in the which he doeth deuine and prophecie? ye haue done euill in so doing.

6 Und als er sie ereilte, redete er mit ihnen solche Worte.

And when he ouertooke them, he sayde those wordes vnto them.

7 Sie antworteten ihm: Warum redet mein Herr solche Worte? Es sei ferne von deinen Knechten, ein solches zu tun.

And they answered him, Wherefore sayeth my lorde such wordes? God forbid that thy seruants should do such a thing.

8 Siehe, das Geld, das wir fanden oben in unsern Säcken, haben wir wiedergebracht zu dir aus dem Lande Kanaan. Und wie sollten wir denn aus deines Herrn Hause gestohlen haben Silber und Gold?

Behold, the money which we found in our sackes mouthes, wee brought againe to thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steale out of thy lordes house siluer or golde?

9 Bei welchem er gefunden wird unter deinen Knechten, der sei des Todes; dazu wollen auch wir meines Herrn Knechte sein.

With whomesoeuer of thy seruants it bee found, let him dye, and we also will be my lordes bondmen.

10 Er sprach: Ja, es sei, wie ihr geredet habt. Bei welchem er gefunden wird, der sei mein Knecht; ihr aber sollt ledig sein.

And he said, Now then let it be according vnto your wordes: he with whome it is found, shall be my seruant, and ye shalbe blamelesse.

11 Und sie eilten, und ein jeglicher legte seinen Sack ab auf die Erde, und ein jeglicher tat seinen Sack auf.

Then at once euery man tooke downe his sacke to the grounde, and euery one opened his sacke.

12 Und er suchte und hob am Ältesten an bis auf den Jüngsten; da fand sich der Becher in Benjamins Sack.

And he searched, and began at the eldest and left at the yongest: and the cuppe was found in Beniamins sacke.

13 Da zerrissen sie ihre Kleider und belud ein jeglicher seinen Esel und zogen wieder in die Stadt.

Then they rent their clothes, and laded euery man his asse, and went againe into the citie.

14 Und Juda ging mit seinen Brüdern in Josephs Haus, denn er war noch daselbst; und sie fielen vor ihm nieder auf die Erde.

So Iudah and his brethren came to Iosephs house (for he was yet there) and they fel before him on the ground.

15 Joseph aber sprach zu ihnen: Wie habt ihr das tun dürfen? Wißt ihr nicht, daß ein solcher Mann, wie ich, erraten könne?

Then Ioseph sayd vnto them, What acte is this, which ye haue done? know ye not that such a man as I, can deuine and prophecie?

16 Juda sprach: Was sollen wir sagen meinem Herrn, oder wie sollen wir reden, und womit können wir uns rechtfertigen? Gott hat die Missetat deiner Knechte gefunden. Siehe da, wir und der, bei dem der Becher gefunden ist, sind meines Herrn Knechte.

Then sayd Iudah, What shall we say vnto my lord? what shall we speake? and howe can we iustifie our selues? God hath found out the wickednesse of thy seruants: beholde, we are seruants to my Lord, both wee, and he, with whome the cuppe is founde.

17 Er aber sprach: Das sei ferne von mir, solches zu tun! Der Mann, bei dem der Becher gefunden ist, soll mein Knecht sein; ihr aber zieht hinauf mit Frieden zu eurem Vater.

But he answered, God forbid, that I should doe so, but the man, with whome the cuppe is founde, he shalbe my seruant, and go ye in peace vnto your father.

18 Da trat Juda zu ihm und sprach: Mein Herr, laß deinen Knecht ein Wort reden vor den Ohren meines Herrn, und dein Zorn ergrimme nicht über deinen Knecht; denn du bist wie Pharao.

Then Iudah drewe neere vnto him, and sayde, O my Lord, let thy seruant nowe speake a worde in my lordes eares, and let not thy wrath be kindled against thy seruant: for thou art euen as Pharaoh.

19 Mein Herr fragte seine Knechte und sprach: Habt ihr auch einen Vater oder Bruder?

My Lord asked his seruants, saying, Haue ye a father, or a brother?

20 Da antworteten wir: Wir haben einen Vater, der ist alt, und einen jungen Knaben, in seinem Alter geboren; und sein Bruder ist tot, und er ist allein übriggeblieben von seiner Mutter, und sein Vater hat ihn lieb.

And we answered my Lord, We haue a father that is olde, and a young childe, which he begate in his age: and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loueth him.

21 Da sprachst du zu deinen Knechten: Bringet ihn herab zu mir; ich will ihm Gnade erzeigen.

Now thou saidest vnto thy seruants, Bring him vnto me, that I may set mine eye vpon him.

22 Wir aber antworteten meinem Herrn: Der Knabe kann nicht von seinem Vater kommen; wo er von ihm käme, würde er sterben.

And we answered my lord, The childe can not depart from his father: for if he leaue his father, his father would die.

23 Da sprachst du zu deinen Knechten: Wo euer jüngster Bruder nicht mit euch herkommt, sollt ihr mein Angesicht nicht mehr sehen.

Then saydest thou vnto thy seruants, Except your yonger brother come downe with you, looke in my face no more.

24 Da zogen wir hinauf zu deinem Knecht, unserm Vater, und sagten ihm meines Herrn Rede.

So when we came vnto thy seruant our father, and shewed him what my lord had sayd,

25 Da sprach unser Vater: Zieht wieder hin und kauft uns ein wenig Speise.

And our father sayde vnto vs, Goe againe, bye vs a litle foode,

26 Wir aber sprachen: wir können nicht hinabziehen, es sei denn unser jüngster Bruder mit uns, so wollen wir hinabziehen; denn wir können des Mannes Angesicht nicht sehen, wenn unser jüngster Bruder nicht mit uns ist.

Then we answered, We can not go downe: but if our yongest brother go with vs, then will we go downe: for we may not see the mans face, except our yongest brother be with vs.

27 Da sprach dein Knecht, mein Vater, zu uns: Ihr wisset, daß mir mein Weib zwei Söhne geboren hat;

Then thy seruant my father sayde vnto vs, Ye knowe that my wife bare me two sonnes,

28 einer ging hinaus von mir, und man sagte: Er ist zerrissen; und ich habe ihn nicht gesehen bisher.

And the one went out from me, and I said, Of a suretie he is torne in pieces, and I sawe him not since.

29 Werdet ihr diesen auch von mir nehmen und widerfährt ihm ein Unfall, so werdet ihr meine grauen Haare mit Jammer hinunter in die Grube bringen. (Sheol h7585)

Nowe yee take this also away from me: if death take him, then yee shall bring my graye head in sorowe to the graue. (Sheol h7585)

30 Nun, so ich heimkäme zu deinem Knecht, meinem Vater, und der Knabe wäre nicht mit uns, an des Seele seine Seele hanget,

Nowe therefore, when I come to thy seruant my father, and the childe be not with vs (seeing that his life dependeth on the childes life)

31 so wird's geschehen, wenn er sieht, daß der Knabe nicht da ist, daß er stirbt; so würden wir, deine Knechte, die grauen Haare deines Knechtes, unsers Vaters, mit Herzeleid in die Grube bringen. (Sheol h7585)

Then when hee shall see that the childe is not come, he will die: so shall thy seruants bring the graye head of thy seruant our father with sorowe to the graue. (Sheol h7585)

32 Denn ich, dein Knecht, bin Bürge geworden für den Knaben gegen meinen Vater und sprach: Bringe ich ihn dir nicht wieder, so will ich mein Leben lang die Schuld tragen.

Doubtlesse thy seruant became suertie for the childe to my father, and said, If I bring him not vnto thee againe, then I will beare the blame vnto my father for euer.

33 Darum laß deinen Knecht hier bleiben an des Knaben Statt zum Knecht meines Herrn und den Knaben mit seinen Brüdern hinaufziehen.

Nowe therefore, I pray thee, let me thy seruant bide for the childe, as a seruant to my Lord, and let the childe go vp with his brethren.

34 Denn wie soll ich hinaufziehen zu meinem Vater, wenn der Knabe nicht mit mir ist? Ich würde den Jammer sehen müssen, der meinem Vater begegnen würde.

For how can I go vp to my father, if the childe be not with me, vnlesse I woulde see the euil that shall come on my father?
