5 Mose 29

1 Dies sind die Worte des Bundes, den der HERR dem Mose geboten hat zu machen mit den Kindern Israel in der Moabiter Lande, zum andernmal, nachdem er denselben mit ihnen gemacht hatte am Horeb.

These [are] the words of the covenant which YHWH has commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, apart from the covenant which He made with them in Horeb.

2 Und Mose rief das ganze Israel und sprach zu ihnen; Ihr habt gesehen alles, was der HERR getan hat in Ägypten vor euren Augen dem Pharao mit allen seinen Knechten und seinem ganzen Lande,

And Moses calls to all Israel and says to them, “You have seen all that which YHWH has done before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land—

3 die großen Versuchungen, die deine Augen gesehen haben, daß es große Zeichen und Wunder waren.

the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders.

4 Und der HERR hat euch bis auf diesen heutigen Tag noch nicht gegeben ein Herz, das verständig wäre, Augen, die da sähen, und Ohren, die da hörten.

And YHWH has not given to you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day.

5 Er hat euch vierzig Jahre in der Wüste lassen wandeln: eure Kleider sind an euch nicht veraltet, und dein Schuh ist nicht veraltet an deinen Füßen;

And I cause you to go in a wilderness [for] forty years; your garments have not been consumed from off you, and your shoe has not worn away from off your foot;

6 ihr habt kein Brot gegessen und keinen Wein getrunken noch starkes Getränk, auf daß du wissest, daß ich der HERR, euer Gott, bin.

you have not eaten bread, and you have not drunk wine and strong drink, so that you know that I [am] your God YHWH.

7 Und da ihr kamt an diesen Ort, zog aus der König Sihon zu Hesbon und der König Og von Basan uns entgegen, mit uns zu streiten; und wir haben sie geschlagen

And you come to this place, and Sihon king of Heshbon—also Og king of Bashan—comes out to meet us to battle, and we strike them,

8 und ihr Land eingenommen und zum Erbteil gegeben den Rubenitern und Gaditern und dem halben Stamm der Manassiter.

and take their land, and give it for an inheritance to the Reubenite, and to the Gadite, and to the half of the tribe of the Manassite;

9 So haltet nun die Worte dieses Bundes und tut darnach, auf daß ihr weise handeln möget in allem eurem Tun.

and you have kept the words of this covenant and done them, so that you cause all that you do to prosper.

10 Ihr stehet heute alle vor dem HERRN, eurem Gott, die Obersten eurer Stämme, eure Ältesten, eure Amtleute, ein jeder Mann in Israel,

You are standing today, all of you, before your God YHWH: your heads, your tribes, your elderly, and your authorities, every man of Israel,

11 eure Kinder, eure Weiber, dein Fremdling, der in deinem Lager ist (beide, dein Holzhauer und dein Wasserschöpfer),

your infants, your wives, and your sojourner who [is] in the midst of your camps, from the hewer of your wood to the drawer of your water,

12 daß du tretest in den Bund des HERRN, deines Gottes, und in den Eid, den der HERR, dein Gott, heute mit dir macht,

for your passing over into the covenant of your God YHWH, and into His oath which your God YHWH is making with you today,

13 auf daß er dich heute ihm zum Volk aufrichte und er dein Gott sei, wie er dir verheißen hat und wie er deinen Vätern Abraham, Isaak und Jakob geschworen hat.

in order to establish you to Himself for a people today, and He Himself is your God, as He has spoken to you, and as He has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

14 denn ich mache diesen Bund und diesen Eid nicht mit euch allein,

And I am not making this covenant and this oath with you alone,

15 sondern sowohl mit euch, die ihr heute hier seid und mit uns stehet vor dem HERRN, unserm Gott, als auch mit denen, die heute nicht mit uns sind.

but with him who is here with us, standing before our God YHWH today, and with him who is not here with us today,

16 Denn ihr wißt, wie wir in Ägyptenland gewohnt haben und mitten durch die Heiden gezogen sind, durch welche ihr zoget,

for you have known how you dwelt in the land of Egypt, and how we passed by through the midst of the nations which you have passed by;

17 und saht ihre Greuel und ihre Götzen, Holz und Stein, Silber und Gold, die bei ihnen waren.

and you see their abominations, and their idols of wood and stone, silver and gold, which [are] with them,

18 Daß nicht vielleicht ein Mann oder ein Weib oder ein Geschlecht oder ein Stamm unter euch sei, des Herz heute sich von dem HERRN, unserm Gott, gewandt habe, daß er hingehe und diene den Göttern dieser Völker und werde vielleicht eine Wurzel unter euch, die da Galle und Wermut trage,

lest there be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart is turning from our God YHWH today, to go to serve the gods of those nations, lest there be in you a root bearing the fruit of gall and wormwood;

19 und ob er schon höre die Worte dieses Fluches, dennoch sich segne in seinem Herzen und spreche: Es geht mir wohl, dieweil ich wandle, wie es mein Herz dünkt, auf daß die Trunkenen mit den Durstigen dahinfahren!

and it has been, in his hearing the words of this oath, that he has blessed himself in his heart, saying, I have peace, though I go on in the stubbornness of my heart—in order to sweep away the watered with the thirsty.

20 Da wird der HERR dem nicht gnädig sein; sondern dann wird sein Zorn und Eifer rauchen über solchen Mann und werden sich auf ihn legen alle Flüche, die in diesem Buch geschrieben sind; und der HERR wird seinen Namen austilgen unter dem Himmel

YHWH is not willing to be propitious to him, for then the anger of YHWH smokes, also His zeal, against that man, and all the oath which is written in this scroll has lain down on him, and YHWH has blotted out his name from under the heavens,

21 und wird ihn absondern zum Unglück aus allen Stämmen Israels, laut aller Flüche des Bundes, der in dem Buch dieses Gesetzes geschrieben ist.

and YHWH has separated him for calamity out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the oaths of the covenant which is written in this Scroll of the Law.

22 So werden dann sagen die Nachkommen eurer Kinder, die nach euch aufkommen werden, und die Fremden, die aus fernen Landen kommen, wenn sie die Plagen dieses Landes sehen und die Krankheiten, womit sie der HERR beladen hat

And the latter generation of your sons who rise after you, and the stranger who comes in from a far-off land, have said, when they have seen the strokes of that land and its sicknesses which YHWH has sent into it:

23 (daß er all ihr Land mit Schwefel und Salz verbrannt hat, daß es nicht besät werden kann noch etwas wächst noch Kraut darin aufgeht, gleich wie Sodom und Gomorra, Adama und Zeboim umgekehrt sind, die der HERR in seinem Zorn und Grimm umgekehrt hat),

The whole land is burned [with] brimstone and salt, it is not sown, nor does it shoot up, nor does any herb go up on it there, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim, which YHWH overturned in His anger and in His fury.

24 so werden alle Völker sagen: Warum hat der HERR diesem Lande also getan? Was ist das für ein so großer und grimmiger Zorn?

Indeed, all the nations have said, Why has YHWH done thus to this land? Why the heat of this great anger?

25 So wird man sagen: Darum daß sie den Bund des HERRN, des Gottes ihrer Väter, verlassen haben, den er mit ihnen machte, da er sie aus Ägyptenland führte,

And they have said, Because that they have forsaken the covenant of YHWH, God of their fathers, which He made with them in His bringing them out of the land of Egypt,

26 und sind hingegangen und haben andern Göttern gedient und sie angebetet (solche Götter, die sie nicht kennen und die er ihnen nicht verordnet hat),

and they go and serve other gods, and bow themselves to them—gods which they have not known, and which He has not apportioned to them;

27 darum ist des HERRN Zorn ergrimmt über dies Land, daß er über sie hat kommen lassen alle Flüche, die in diesem Buch geschrieben stehen;

and the anger of YHWH burns against that land, to bring in on it all the reviling that is written in this scroll,

28 und der HERR hat sie aus ihrem Lande gestoßen mit großem Zorn, Grimm und Ungnade und hat sie in ein ander Land geworfen, wie es steht heutigestages.

and YHWH plucks them from off their ground in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath, and casts them into another land, as [at] this day.

29 Das Geheimnis ist des HERRN, unsers Gottes; was aber offenbart ist, das ist unser und unserer Kinder ewiglich, daß wir tun sollen alle Worte dieses Gesetzes.

The things hidden [belong] to our God YHWH, and the things revealed [belong] to us and to our sons for all time, to do all the words of this law.”
