Rut 1
1 Zu der Zeit, da die Richter regierten, ward eine Teuerung im Lande. Und ein Mann von Bethlehem-Juda zog wallen in der Moabiter Land mit seinem Weibe und zween Söhnen.
Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
2 Der hieß Elimelech und sein Weib Naemi, und seine zween Söhne Mahlon und Chiljon, die waren Ephrather, von Bethlehem-Juda. Und da sie kamen ins Land der Moabiter, blieben sie daselbst.
And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.
3 Und Elimelech, der Naemi Mann, starb, und sie blieb übrig mit ihren zween Söhnen.
And Elimelech Naomi’s husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.
4 Die nahmen moabitische Weiber. Eine hieß Arpa, die andere Ruth. Und da sie daselbst gewohnet hatten bei zehn Jahren,
And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.
5 starben sie alle beide, Mahlon und Chiljon, daß das Weib überblieb beiden Söhnen und ihrem Manne.
And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.
6 Da machte sie sich auf mit ihren zwo Schnüren und zog wieder aus der Moabiter Lande; denn sie hatte erfahren im Moabiter Lande, daß der HERR sein Volk hatte heimgesucht und ihnen Brot gegeben.
Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.
7 Und ging aus von dem Ort, da sie gewesen war, und ihre beiden Schnüre mit ihr. Und da sie ging auf dem Wege, daß sie wiederkäme ins Land Juda,
Why she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.
8 sprach sie zu ihren beiden Schnüren: Gehet hin und kehret um, eine jegliche zu ihrer Mutter Haus; der HERR tue an euch Barmherzigkeit, wie ihr an den Toten und an mir getan habt!
And Naomi said to her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother’s house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead, and with me.
9 Der HERR gebe euch, daß ihr Ruhe findet, eine jegliche in ihres Mannes Hause! Und küssete sie. Da huben sie ihre Stimme auf und weineten.
The LORD grant you that you may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
10 Und sprachen zu ihr: Wir wollen mit dir zu deinem Volk gehen.
And they said to her, Surely we will return with you to your people.
11 Aber Naemi sprach: Kehret um, meine Töchter; warum wollt ihr mit mir gehen? Wie kann ich fürder Kinder in meinem Leibe haben, die eure Männer sein möchten?
And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will you go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
12 Kehret um, meine Töchter, und gehet hin; denn ich bin nun zu alt, daß ich einen Mann nehme. Und wenn ich spräche: Es ist zu hoffen, daß ich diese Nacht einen Mann nehme und Kinder gebäre,
Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
13 wie könnet ihr doch harren, bis sie groß würden? Wie wollt ihr verziehen, daß ihr nicht Männer solltet nehmen? Nicht, meine Töchter; denn mich jammert euer sehr, denn des HERRN Hand ist über mich ausgegangen.
Would you tarry for them till they were grown? would you stay for them from having husbands? no, my daughters; for it grieves me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.
14 Da huben sie ihre Stimme auf und weineten noch mehr. Und Arpa küssete ihre Schwieger; Ruth aber blieb bei ihr.
And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth joined to her.
15 Sie aber sprach: Siehe, deine Schwägerin ist umgewandt zu ihrem Volk und zu ihrem Gott; kehre du auch um, deiner Schwägerin nach.
And she said, Behold, your sister in law is gone back to her people, and to her gods: return you after your sister in law.
16 Ruth antwortete: Rede mir nicht darein, daß ich dich verlassen sollte und von dir umkehren. Wo du hingehest, da will ich auch hingehen; wo du bleibest, da bleibe ich auch. Dein Volk ist mein Volk und dein Gott ist mein Gott.
And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you: for where you go, I will go; and where you lodge, I will lodge: your people shall be my people, and your God my God:
17 Wo du stirbst, da sterbe ich auch; da will ich auch begraben werden. Der HERR tue mir dies und das: der Tod muß mich und dich scheiden.
Where you die, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death part you and me.
18 Als sie nun sah, daß sie fest im Sinne war, mit ihr zu gehen, ließ sie ab, mit ihr davon zu reden.
When she saw that she was steadfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking to her.
19 Also gingen die beiden miteinander bis sie gen Bethlehem kamen. Und da sie zu Bethlehem einkamen, regte sich die ganze Stadt über ihnen und sprach: Ist das die Naemi?
So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?
20 Sie aber sprach zu ihnen: Heißet mich nicht Naemi, sondern Mara; denn der Allmächtige hat mich sehr betrübet.
And she said to them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.
21 Voll zog ich aus, aber leer hat mich der HERR wieder heimgebracht. Warum heißet ihr mich denn Naemi, so mich doch der HERR gedemütiget und der Allmächtige betrübet hat?
I went out full and the LORD has brought me home again empty: why then call you me Naomi, seeing the LORD has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?
22 Es war aber um die Zeit, daß die Gerstenernte anging, da Naemi und ihre Schnur Ruth, die Moabitin, wiederkamen vom Moabiter Lande gen Bethlehem.
So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
