Roemers 12
1 Ich ermahne euch, liebe Brüder, durch die Barmherzigkeit Gottes, daß ihr eure Leiber begebet zum Opfer, das da lebendig, heilig und Gott wohlgefällig sei, welches sei euer vernünftiger Gottesdienst.
I plead with you therefore, brethren, by the compassionsof God, to present all your faculties to Him as a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to Him. This with you will be an act of reasonable worship.
2 Und stellet euch nicht dieser Welt gleich, sondern verändert euch durch Erneuerung eures Sinnes, auf daß ihr prüfen möget, welches da sei der gute, der wohlgefällige und der vollkommene Gotteswille. (aiōn g165)
And do not follow the customs of the present age, but be transformed by the entire renewal of your minds, so that you may learn by experience what God's will is--that will which is good and beautiful and perfect. (aiōn g165)
3 Denn ich sage durch die Gnade, die mir gegeben ist, jedermann unter euch, daß niemand weiter von sich halte, denn sich's gebührt zu halten, sondern daß von sich mäßiglich halte, ein jeglicher nachdem Gott ausgeteilet hat das Maß des Glaubens.
For through the authority graciously given to me I warn every individual among you not to value himself unduly, but to cultivate sobriety of judgement in accordance with the amount of faith which God has allotted to each one.
4 Denn gleicherweise, als wir in einem Leibe viel Glieder haben, aber alle Glieder nicht einerlei Geschäft haben,
For just as there are in the one human body many parts, and these parts have not all the same function;
5 also sind wir viele ein Leib in Christo; aber untereinander ist einer des andern Glied.
so collectively we form one body in Christ, while individually we are linked to one another as its members.
6 Und haben mancherlei Gaben nach der Gnade, die uns gegeben ist. Hat jemand Weissagung, so sei sie dem Glauben ähnlich
But since we have special gifts which differ in accordance with the diversified work graciously entrusted to us, if it is prophecy, let the prophet speak in exact proportion to his faith;
7 Hat jemand ein Amt so warte er des Amts. Lehret jemand, so warte er der Lehre.
if it is the gift of administration, let the administrator exercise a sound judgement in his duties.
8 Ermahnet jemand, so warte er des Ermahnens. Gibt jemand, so gebe er einfältiglich. Regieret jemand, so sei er sorgfältig. Übet jemand Barmherzigkeit, so tu er's mit Lust.
The teacher must do the same in his teaching; and he who exhorts others, in his exhortation. He who gives should be liberal; he who is in authority should be energetic and alert; and he who succours the afflicted should do it cheerfully.
9 Die Liebe sei nicht falsch. Hasset das Arge, hanget dem Guten an.
Let your love be perfectly sincere. Regard with horror what is evil; cling to what is right.
10 Die brüderliche Liebe untereinander sei herzlich. Einer komme dem andern mit Ehrerbietung zuvor.
As for brotherly love, be affectionate to one another; in matters of worldly honour, yield to one another.
11 Seid nicht träge, was ihr tun sollt. Seid brünstig im Geiste. Schicket euch in die Zeit.
Do not be indolent when zeal is required. Be thoroughly warm-hearted, the Lord's own servants,
12 Seid fröhlich in Hoffnung; geduldig in Trübsal, haltet an am Gebet.
full of joyful hope, patient under persecution, earnest and persistent in prayer.
13 Nehmet euch der Heiligen Notdurft an. Herberget gerne.
Relieve the necessities of God's people; always practise hospitality.
14 Segnet, die euch verfolgen; segnet, und fluchet nicht.
Invoke blessings on your persecutors--blessings, not curses.
15 Freuet euch mit den Fröhlichen und weinet mit den Weinenden.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.
16 Habt einerlei Sinn untereinander. Trachtet nicht nach hohen Dingen, sondern haltet euch herunter zu den Niedrigen.
Have full sympathy with one another. Do not give your mind to high things, but let humble ways content you. Do not be wise in your own conceits.
17 Haltet euch nicht selbst für klug. Vergeltet niemand Böses mit Bösem. Fleißiget euch der Ehrbarkeit gegen jedermann.
Pay back to no man evil for evil. Take thought for what is right and seemly in every one's esteem.
18 Ist es möglich, soviel an euch ist, so habt mit allen Menschen Frieden.
If you can, so far as it depends on you, live at peace with all the world.
19 Rächet euch selber nicht, meine Liebsten, sondern gebet Raum dem Zorn; denn es stehet geschrieben: Die Rache ist mein; ich will vergelten, spricht der HERR.
Do not be revengeful, my dear friends, but give way before anger; for it is written, "'Revenge belongs to Me: I will pay back,' says the Lord."
20 So nun deinen Feind hungert, so speise ihn; dürstet ihn, so tränke ihn. Wenn du das tust, so wirst du feurige Kohlen auf sein Haupt sammeln.
On the contrary, therefore, if your enemy is hungry, give him food; if he is thirsty, quench his thirst. For by doing this you will be heaping burning coals upon his head.
21 Laß dich nicht das Böse überwinden, sondern überwinde das Böse mit Gutem.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome the evil with goodness.
