Psalm 87

1 Ein Psalmlied der Kinder Korah. Sie ist fest gegründet auf den heiligen Bergen.

The city that Yahweh established is on his sacred hill.

2 Der HERR liebet die Tore Zions über alle Wohnungen Jakobs.

He loves that city, Jerusalem, more than he loves any other city in Israel.

3 HERRLIche Dinge werden in dir geprediget, du Stadt Gottes. (Sela)

[You people in] [APO] the city that God (owns/lives in), people say wonderful things about your city.

4 Ich will predigen lassen Rahab und Babel, daß sie mich kennen sollen. Siehe, die Philister und Tyrer samt den Mohren werden daselbst geboren.

[Some of those who know about God are the people of] Egypt and Babylonia, and also [the people of] Philistia and Tyre and Ethiopia; [some day they all] will say, “[Although I was not born in Jerusalem], [because I belong to Yahweh, it is as though] I was born there.”

5 Man wird zu Zion sagen, daß allerlei Leute drinnen geboren werden, und daß er, der Höchste, sie baue.

And concerning Jerusalem, people will say [“It is as though] everyone was born there, and Almighty God will cause that city to remain strong/safe/secure.”

6 Der HERR wird predigen lassen in allerlei Sprachen, daß deren etliche auch daselbst geboren werden. (Sela)

Yahweh will write a list of [the names of] the people of various groups [who belong to him], and he will say that [he considers them] all to be citizens of Jerusalem.

7 Und die Sänger, wie am Reigen, werden alle in dir singen, eins ums andere.

They will all dance and sing, saying, “Jerusalem is the source of all our blessings.”
