Psalm 73
1 Ein Psalm Assaphs. Israel hat dennoch Gott zum Trost, wer nur reines Herzens ist.
A Psalm of Asaph. Surely God is good to Israel, [even] to such as are pure in heart.
2 Ich aber hätte schier gestrauchelt mit meinen Füßen, mein Tritt hätte beinahe geglitten.
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 Denn es verdroß mich auf die Ruhmredigen, da ich sah, daß es den Gottlosen so wohl ging.
For I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Denn sie sind in keiner Fahr des Todes, sondern stehen fest wie ein Palast.
For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
5 Sie sind nicht in Unglück wie andere Leute und werden nicht wie andere Menschen geplagt.
They are not in trouble as [other] men; neither are they plagued like [other] men.
6 Darum muß ihr Trotzen köstlich Ding sein, und ihr Frevel muß wohlgetan heißen.
Therefore pride is as a chain about their neck; violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Ihre Person brüstet sich wie ein fetter Wanst; sie tun, was sie nur gedenken.
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
8 Sie vernichten alles und reden übel davon, und reden und lästern hoch her.
They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression: they speak loftily.
9 Was sie reden, das muß vom Himmel herab geredet sein; was sie sagen, das muß gelten auf Erden.
They have set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Darum fällt ihnen ihr Pöbel zu und laufen ihnen zu mit Haufen wie Wasser
Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full [cup] are wrung out by them.
11 und sprechen: Was sollte Gott nach jenen fragen? Was sollte der Höchste ihrer achten?
And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?
12 Siehe, das sind die Gottlosen; die sind glückselig in der Welt und werden reich.
Behold, these are the wicked; and, being alway at ease, they increase in riches.
13 Soll's denn umsonst sein, daß mein Herz unsträflich lebt und ich meine Hände in Unschuld wasche
Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocency;
14 und bin geplagt täglich, und meine Strafe ist alle Morgen da?
For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15 Ich hätte auch schier so gesagt wie sie; aber siehe, damit hätte ich verdammt alle deine Kinder, die je gewesen sind.
If I had said, I will speak thus; behold, I had dealt treacherously with the generation of thy children.
16 Ich gedacht ihm nach, daß ich's begreifen möchte; aber es war mir zu schwer
When I thought how I might know this, it was too painful for me;
17 bis daß ich ging in das Heiligtum Gottes und merkte auf ihr Ende.
Until I went into the sanctuary of God, and considered their latter end.
18 Aber du setzest sie aufs Schlüpfrige und stürzest sie zu Boden.
Surely thou settest them in slippery places: thou castest them down to destruction.
19 Wie werden sie so plötzlich zunichte! Sie gehen unter und nehmen ein Ende mit Schrecken.
How are they become a desolation in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 Wie ein Traum, wenn einer erwachet, so machst du, HERR, ihr Bild in der Stadt verschmähet.
As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Aber es tut mir wehe im Herzen und sticht mich in meinen Nieren,
For my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins:
22 daß ich muß ein Narr sein und nichts wissen und muß wie ein Tier sein vor dir.
So brutish was I, and ignorant; I was [as] a beast before thee.
23 Dennoch bleibe ich stets an dir; denn du hältst mich bei meiner rechten Hand,
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden my right hand.
24 du leitest mich nach deinem Rat und nimmst mich endlich mit Ehren an.
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Wenn ich nur dich habe, so frage ich nichts nach Himmel und Erde.
Whom have I in heaven [but thee]? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 Wenn mir gleich Leib und Seele verschmachtet, so bist du doch, Gott, allezeit meines Herzens Trost und mein Teil.
My flesh and my heart faileth: [but] God is the strength of my heart and my portion for ever.
27 Denn, siehe, die von dir weichen, werden umkommen; du bringest um alle, die wider dich huren.
For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 Aber das ist meine Freude, daß ich mich zu Gott halte und meine Zuversicht setze auf den HERRN HERRN, daß ich verkündige all dein Tun.
But it is good for me to draw near unto God: I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all thy works.
