Psalm 44
1 Eine Unterweisung der Kinder Korah, vorzusingen, Gott, wir haben mit unsern Ohren gehöret, unsere Väter haben uns erzählet, was du getan hast zu ihren Zeiten vor alters.
We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou did in their days, in the days of old.
2 Du hast mit deiner Hand die Heiden vertrieben, aber sie hast du eingesetzt; du hast die Völker verderbet, aber sie hast du ausgebreitet.
Thou drove out the nations with thy hand, but thou planted them. Thou afflicted the peoples, but thou spread them abroad.
3 Denn sie haben das Land nicht eingenommen durch ihr Schwert, und ihr Arm half ihnen nicht, sondern deine Rechte, dein Arm und das Licht deines Angesichts; denn du hattest Wohlgefallen an ihnen.
For they did not get the land in possession by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them, but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou were favorable to them.
4 Gott, du bist derselbe mein König, der du Jakob Hilfe verheißest.
Thou are my King, O God. Command deliverance for Jacob.
5 Durch dich wollen wir unsere Feinde zerstoßen; in deinem Namen wollen wir untertreten, die sich wider uns setzen.
Through thee we will push down our adversaries. Through thy name we will tread them under who rise up against us.
6 Denn ich verlasse mich nicht auf meinen Bogen, und mein Schwert kann mir nicht helfen,
For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me.
7 sondern du hilfst uns von unsern Feinden und machest zuschanden, die uns hassen.
But thou have saved us from our adversaries, and have put them to shame who hate us.
8 Wir wollen täglich rühmen von Gott und deinem Namen danken ewiglich. (Sela)
In God we have made our boast all the day long, and we will give thanks to thy name forever. (Selah)
9 Warum verstößest du uns denn nun und lässest uns zuschanden werden und zeuchst nicht aus unter unserm Heer?
But now thou have cast off, and brought us to dishonor, and go not forth with our armies.
10 Du lässest uns fliehen vor unserm Feinde, daß uns berauben, die uns hassen.
Thou make us to turn back from the adversary. And those who hate us take spoil for themselves.
11 Du lässest uns auffressen wie Schafe und zerstreuest uns unter die Heiden.
Thou have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.
12 Du verkaufest dein Volk umsonst und nimmst nichts drum.
Thou sell thy people for nothing, and have not increased by their price.
13 Du machst uns zur Schmach unsern Nachbarn, zum Spott und Hohn denen, die um uns her sind.
Thou make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are round about us.
14 Du machst uns zum Beispiel unter den Heiden, und daß die Völker das Haupt über uns schütteln.
Thou make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
15 Täglich ist meine Schmach vor mir, und mein Antlitz ist voller Schande,
All the day long my dishonor is before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,
16 daß ich die Schänder und Lästerer hören und die Feinde und Rachgierigen sehen muß.
for the voice of him who reproaches and blasphemes, because of the enemy and the avenger.
17 Dies alles ist über uns kommen, und haben doch dein nicht vergessen, noch untreulich in deinem Bunde gehandelt;
All this has come upon us, yet we have not forgotten thee, nor have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
18 unser Herz ist nicht abgefallen, noch unser Gang gewichen von deinem Wege,
Our heart is not turned back, nor have our steps declined from thy way,
19 daß du uns so zerschlägest unter den Drachen und bedeckest uns mit Finsternis.
that thou have greatly broken us in the place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
20 Wenn wir des Namens unsers Gottes vergessen hätten und unsere Hände aufgehoben zum fremden Gott,
If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god,
21 das möchte Gott wohl finden; nun kennet er ja unsers Herzens Grund.
will not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
22 Denn wir werden ja um deinetwillen täglich erwürget und sind geachtet wie Schlachtschafe.
Yea, for thy sake we are killed all the day long. We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
23 Erwecke dich, HERR, warum schläfst du? Wache auf und verstoße uns nicht so gar!
Awake, why do thou sleep, O Lord? Arise, cast not off forever.
24 Warum verbirgest du dein Antlitz, vergissest unsers Elends und Dranges?
Why do thou hide thy face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
25 Denn unsere Seele ist gebeuget zur Erde; unser Bauch klebet am Erdboden.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our body clings to the ground.
Rise up for our help, and redeem us for thy loving kindness' sake.
