Psalm 37
1 Ein Psalm Davids. Erzürne dich nicht über die Bösen; sei nicht neidisch über die Übeltäter!
“A psalm of David.” Be not thou angry on account of the wicked, Nor be envious of those who do iniquity.
2 Denn wie das Gras werden sie bald abgehauen und wie das grüne Kraut werden sie verwelken.
For soon shall they be cut down like grass, And wither like the green herb.
3 Hoffe auf den HERRN und tue Gutes; bleibe im Lande und nähre dich redlich.
Trust in the LORD, and do good; Abide in the land, and delight in faithfulness.
4 Habe deine Lust am HERRN; der wird dir geben, was dein Herz wünschet.
Place thy delight in the LORD. And he will give thee thy heart's desires.
5 Befiehl dem HERRN deine Wege und hoffe auf ihn; er wird's wohl machen
Commit thy way to the LORD; Trust in him, and he will give thee success!
6 und wird deine Gerechtigkeit hervor bringen wie das Licht und dein Recht wie den Mittag.
He will cause thy justice to shine forth like the light, And thy righteousness like the noonday's brightness.
7 Sei stille dem HERRN und warte auf ihn! Erzürne dich nicht über den, dem sein Mutwille glücklich fortgehet.
Hope thou patiently on the LORD, And in him place thy trust! Be not angry on account of the prosperous, —On account of him that deviseth deceit!
8 Stehe ab vom Zorn und laß den Grimm; erzürne dich nicht, daß du auch übel tust.
Cease from anger; give not way to wrath; Be not provoked, so as to do evil!
9 Denn die Bösen werden ausgerottet; die aber des HERRN harren, werden das Land erben.
For evil-doers shall be rooted out; But they who trust in the LORD, they shall inherit the land.
10 Es ist noch um ein kleines, so ist der Gottlose nimmer; und wenn du nach seiner Stätte sehen wirst, wird er weg sein.
Yet a little while, and the wicked shall be no more; Thou mayst look for his place, and he will not be found.
11 Aber die Elenden werden das Land erben und Lust haben in großem Frieden.
But the meek shall inherit the land, And delight themselves in the fulness of prosperity.
12 Der Gottlose dräuet dem Gerechten und beißet seine Zähne zusammen über ihn.
The wicked man plotteth against the just, And gnasheth at him with his teeth.
13 Aber der HERR lachet sein; denn er siehet, daß sein Tag kommt.
The Lord laugheth at him; For he seeth that his day is coming.
14 Die Gottlosen ziehen das Schwert aus und spannen ihren Bogen, daß sie fällen den Elenden und Armen und schlachten die Frommen.
The wicked draw the sword, And bend their bow, To cast down the afflicted and the needy, And to slay the upright.
15 Aber ihr Schwert wird in ihr Herz gehen, und ihr Bogen wird zerbrechen.
Their swords shall enter their own hearts, And their bows shall be broken in pieces.
16 Das Wenige, das ein Gerechter hat, ist besser denn das große Gut vieler Gottlosen.
Better is the little of the righteous man Than the great abundance of the wicked;
17 Denn der Gottlosen Arm wird zerbrechen; aber der HERR erhält die Gerechten.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the LORD will uphold the righteous.
18 Der HERR kennet die Tage der Frommen, und ihr Gut wird ewiglich bleiben.
The LORD careth for the life of the upright, And their inheritance shall endure for ever.
19 Sie werden nicht zuschanden in der bösen Zeit, und in der Teurung werden sie genug haben.
They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, And in the days of famine they shall have enough.
20 Denn die Gottlosen werden umkommen, und die Feinde des HERRN, wenn sie gleich sind wie eine köstliche Aue, werden sie doch vergehen, wie der Rauch vergehet.
But the wicked shall perish; Yea, the enemies of the LORD shall be consumed, like the glory of the fields; They shall be consumed into smoke.
21 Der Gottlose borget und bezahlet nicht; der Gerechte aber ist barmherzig und milde.
The wicked borroweth, and repayeth not; But the righteous is merciful and bountiful.
22 Denn seine Gesegneten erben das Land; aber seine Verfluchten werden ausgerottet.
For they who are blessed by God shall inherit the land, And they who are cursed by him shall be rooted out.
23 Von dem HERRN wird solches Mannes Gang gefördert und hat Lust an seinem Wege.
The steps of the good man are directed by the LORD; He delighteth himself in his way.
24 Fällt er, so wird er nicht weggeworfen; denn der HERR erhält ihn bei der Hand.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, For the LORD holdeth him by the hand.
25 Ich bin jung gewesen und alt worden und habe noch nie gesehen den Gerechten verlassen oder seinen Samen nach Brot gehen.
I have been young, and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his offspring begging bread.
26 Er ist allezeit barmherzig und leihet gerne; und sein Same wird gesegnet sein.
He is ever merciful and lendeth, And his offspring shall be blessed.
27 Laß vom Bösen und tue Gutes, und bleibe immerdar.
Depart from evil, and do good; So thou shalt dwell in the land for ever.
28 Denn der HERR hat das Recht lieb und verläßt seine Heiligen nicht; ewiglich werden sie bewahret; aber der Gottlosen Same wird ausgerottet.
For the LORD loveth righteousness, And forsaketh not his servants; They are preserved for ever; But the posterity of the wicked shall be rooted out.
29 Die Gerechten erben das Land und bleiben ewiglich drinnen.
The righteous shall inherit the land, And shall dwell therein for ever.
30 Der Mund des Gerechten redet die Weisheit, und seine Zunge lehret das Recht.
The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, And his tongue speaketh what is right.
31 Das Gesetz seines Gottes ist, in seinem Herzen, seine Tritte gleiten nicht.
The law of his God is in his heart; His footsteps shall not slip.
32 Der Gottlose lauert auf den Gerechten und gedenkt ihn zu töten.
The wicked watcheth the righteous, And seeketh to slay him;
33 Aber der HERR läßt ihn nicht in seinen Händen und verdammt ihn nicht, wenn er verurteilt wird.
The Lord will not leave him in his hand, Nor suffer him to be condemned, when he is judged.
34 Harre auf den HERRN und halte seiner Weg, so wird er dich erhöhen, daß du das Land erbest; du wirst's sehen, daß die Gottlosen ausgerottet werden.
Trust in the LORD, and keep his way, And he will exalt thee to the possession of the land, Whilst thou shalt see the destruction of the wicked!
35 Ich habe gesehen einen Gottlosen, der war trotzig und breitete sich aus und grünete wie ein Lorbeerbaum.
I have seen a wicked man in great power, And spreading himself like a green cedar;
36 Da man vorüberging, siehe, da war er dahin; ich fragte nach ihm, da ward er nirgend funden.
But he passed away, and, lo! he was no more; Yea, I sought him, but he was not found.
37 Bleibe fromm und halte dich recht, denn solchem wird's zuletzt wohlgehen.
Mark the righteous man, and behold the upright, That posterity is to the man of peace!
38 Die Übertreter aber werden vertilget miteinander, und die Gottlosen werden zuletzt ausgerottet.
But transgressors will all be destroyed; The posterity of the wicked shall be rooted out.
39 Aber der HERR hilft den Gerechten; der ist ihre Stärke in der Not.
The salvation of the just is from the LORD. He is their strength in the time of trouble.
40 Und der HERR wird ihnen beistehen und wird sie erretten; er wird sie von den Gottlosen erretten und ihnen helfen; denn sie trauen auf ihn.
The LORD will help and deliver them; He will deliver them from their enemies, and save them, Because they trust in him.
