Psalm 24

1 Ein Psalm Davids. Die Erde ist des HERRN, und was drinnen ist, der Erdboden, und was drauf wohnet.

The earth and everything in it belongs to Yahweh; all the people in the world belong to him, too,

2 Denn er hat ihn an die Meere gegründet und an den Wassern bereitet.

because he caused the ground to be above the water, above the water that was deep below the surface of the earth.

3 Wer wird auf des HERRN Berg gehen? und wer wird stehen an seiner heiligen Stätte?

Who will be allowed to go up on Zion Hill [in Jerusalem], in order to stand [and worship] in Yahweh’s holy temple?

4 Der unschuldige Hände hat und reines Herzens ist; der nicht Lust hat zu loser Lehre und schwöret nicht fälschlich.

[Only] those whose actions [MTY] and thoughts are pure, who have not worshiped idols, and who do not tell lies when they have solemnly promised [to tell the truth].

5 Der wird den Segen vom HERRN empfahen und Gerechtigkeit von dem Gott seines Heils.

(They will be blessed by Yahweh/Yahweh will bless them). When God [judges them], he, who has saved them, will say that they (have done nothing wrong/are without fault).

6 Das ist das Geschlecht, das nach ihm fraget, das da suchet dein Antlitz, Jakob. (Sela)

They are the ones who approach God, they are the ones who may worship God, the one [we] Israelis worship.

7 Machet die Tore weit und die Türen in der Welt hoch, daß der König der Ehren einziehe!

Open up [APO] the [temple] gates in order that our glorious king may enter!

8 Wer ist derselbe König der Ehren? Es ist der HERR, stark und mächtig, der HERR, mächtig im Streit.

[Do you know] who the glorious king is? He is Yahweh, the one who is very strong [DOU]; He is Yahweh, who conquers [all his enemies] in battles!

9 Machet die Tore weit und die Türen in der Welt hoch, daß der König der Ehren einziehe!

Open up the [temple] gates in order that our glorious king may enter!

10 Wer ist derselbe König der Ehren? Es ist der HERR Zebaoth, er ist der König der Ehren. (Sela)

[Do you know] who the glorious king is? He is Yahweh almighty; he is our glorious king!
