Psalm 20
1 Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen. Der HERR erhöre dich in der Not; der Name des Gottes Jakobs schütze dich!
Unto the end. A Psalm of David. May the Lord hear you in the day of tribulation. May the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 Er sende dir Hilfe vom Heiligtum und stärke dich aus Zion!
May he send you help from the sanctuary and watch over you from Zion.
3 Er gedenke all deines Speisopfers, und dein Brandopfer müsse fett sein. (Sela)
May he be mindful of all your sacrifices, and may your burnt-offerings be fat.
4 Er gebe dir, was dein Herz begehret, und erfülle alle deine Anschläge!
May he grant to you according to your heart, and confirm all your counsels.
5 Wir rühmen, daß du uns hilfst; und im Namen unsers Gottes werfen wir Panier auf. Der HERR gewähre dir alle deine Bitte!
We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God, we will be magnified.
6 Nun merke ich, daß der HERR seinem Gesalbten hilft und erhöret ihn in seinem heiligen Himmel; seine rechte Hand hilft gewaltiglich.
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the Lord has saved his Christ. He will hear him from his holy heaven. The salvation of his right hand is in his power.
7 Jene verlassen sich auf Wagen und Rosse; wir aber denken an den Namen des HERRN, unsers Gottes.
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will call upon the name of the Lord our God.
8 Sie sind niedergestürzt und gefallen; wir aber stehen aufgerichtet.
They have been bound, and they have fallen. But we have risen up, and we have been set upright.
O Lord, save the king, and hear us on the day that we will call upon you.
