Psalm 18
1 Ein Psalm vorzusingen, Davids, des HERRN Knechts, welcher hat dem HERRN die Worte dieses Liedes geredet zur Zeit, da ihn der HERR errettet hatte von der Hand seiner Feinde und von der Hand Sauls, und sprach: Herzlich lieb habe ich dich, HERR, meine Stärke,
To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid the seruant of the Lord, which spake unto the Lord the wordes of this song (in the day that the Lord delivered him for the hande of all this enemies, and form the and of saul) and sayd, I will loue thee dearely, O Lord my strength.
2 HERR, mein Fels, meine Burg, mein Erretter, mein Gott, mein Hort, auf den ich traue, mein Schild und Horn meines Heils, und mein Schutz!
The Lord is my rocke, and my fortresse, and he that deliuereth me, my God and my strength: in him will I trust, my shield, the horne also of my saluation, and my refuge.
3 Ich will den HERRN loben und anrufen, so werde ich von meinen Feinden erlöset.
I will call vpon the Lord, which is worthie to be praysed: so shall I be safe from mine enemies.
4 Denn es umfingen mich des Todes Bande, und die Bäche Belials erschreckten mich;
The sorowes of death compassed me, and the floods of wickednes made me afraide.
The sorowes of the graue haue compassed me about: the snares of death ouertooke me. (Sheol h7585)
6 Wenn mir angst ist, so rufe ich den HERRN an und schreie zu meinem Gott, so erhöret er meine Stimme von seinem Tempel, und mein Geschrei kommt vor ihn zu seinen Ohren.
But in my trouble did I call vpon the Lord, and cryed vnto my God: he heard my voyce out of his Temple, and my crye did come before him, euen into his eares.
7 Die Erde bebete und ward bewegt, und die Grundfesten der Berge regeten sich und bebeten, da er zornig war.
Then the earth trembled, and quaked: the foundations also of the mountaines mooued and shooke, because he was angrie.
8 Dampf ging auf von seiner Nase und verzehrend Feuer von seinem Munde, daß es davon blitzete.
Smoke went out at his nostrels, and a consuming fire out of his mouth: coales were kindled thereat.
9 Er neigete den Himmel und fuhr herab, und Dunkel war unter seinen Füßen.
He bowed the heauens also and came downe, and darkenes was vnder his feete.
10 Und er fuhr auf dem Cherub und flog daher; er schwebete auf den Fittichen des Windes.
And he rode vpon Cherub and did flie, and he came flying vpon the wings of the winde.
11 Sein Gezelt um ihn her war finster und schwarze dicke Wolken, darin er verborgen war.
He made darkenes his secrete place, and his pauilion round about him, euen darkenesse of waters, and cloudes of the ayre.
12 Vom Glanz vor ihm trenneten sich die Wolken mit Hagel und Blitzen.
At the brightnes of his presence his clouds passed, haylestones and coles of fire.
13 Und der HERR donnerte im Himmel, und der Höchste ließ seinen Donner aus mit Hagel und Blitzen.
The Lord also thundred in the heauen, and the Highest gaue his voyce, haylestones and coales of fire.
14 Er schoß seine Strahlen und zerstreuete sie; er ließ sehr blitzen und schreckte sie.
Then hee sent out his arrowes and scattred them, and he increased lightnings and destroyed them.
15 Da sah man Wassergüsse, und des Erdbodens Grund ward aufgedeckt, HERR, von deinem Schelten, von dem Odem und Schnauben deiner Nase.
And the chanels of waters were seene, and the foundations of the worlde were discouered at thy rebuking, O Lord, at the blasting of the breath of thy nostrels.
16 Er schickte aus von der Höhe und holete mich und zog mich aus großen Wassern.
He hath sent downe from aboue and taken mee: hee hath drawen mee out of many waters.
17 Er errettete mich von meinen starken Feinden, von meinen Hassern, die mir zu mächtig waren,
He hath deliuered mee from my strong enemie, and from them which hate me: for they were too strong for me.
18 Die mich überwältigten zur Zeit meines Unfalls; und der HERR ward meine Zuversicht.
They preuented me in the day of my calamitie: but the Lord was my stay.
19 Und er führete mich aus in den Raum, er riß mich heraus; denn er hatte Lust zu mir.
Hee brought mee foorth also into a large place: hee deliuered mee because hee fauoured me.
20 Der HERR tut wohl an mir nach meiner Gerechtigkeit; er vergilt mir nach der Reinigkeit meiner Hände.
The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnes: according to the purenes of mine hands he recompensed me:
21 Denn ich halte die Wege des HERRN und bin nicht gottlos wider meinen Gott.
Because I kept the wayes of the Lord, and did not wickedly against my God.
22 Denn alle seine Rechte hab ich vor Augen und seine Gebote werfe ich nicht von mir,
For all his Lawes were before mee, and I did not cast away his commandements from mee.
23 sondern ich bin ohne Wandel vor ihm und hüte mich vor Sünden.
I was vpright also with him, and haue kept me from my wickednes.
24 Darum vergilt mir der HERR nach meiner Gerechtigkeit, nach der Reinigkeit meiner Hände vor seinen Augen.
Therefore the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnesse, and according to the purenes of mine hands in his sight.
25 Beiden Heiligen bist du heilig und bei den Frommen bist du fromm
With the godly thou wilt shewe thy selfe godly: with the vpright man thou wilt shew thy selfe vpright.
26 und bei den Reinen bist du rein und bei den Verkehrten bist du verkehrt.
With the pure thou wilt shewe thy selfe pure, and with the froward thou wilt shewe thy selfe froward.
27 Denn du hilfst dem elenden Volk und die hohen Augen niedrigest du.
Thus thou wilt saue the poore people, and wilt cast downe the proude lookes.
28 Denn du erleuchtest meine Leuchte; der HERR, mein Gott, macht meine Finsternis licht.
Surely thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God wil lighten my darkenes.
29 Denn mit dir kann ich Kriegsvolk zerschmeißen und mit meinem Gott über die Mauern springen.
For by thee I haue broken through an hoste, and by my God I haue leaped ouer a wall.
30 Gottes Wege sind ohne Wandel; die Reden des HERRN sind durchläutert. Er ist ein Schild allen, die ihm vertrauen.
The way of God is vncorrupt: the worde of the Lord is tried in the fire: he is a shield to all that trust in him.
31 Denn wo ist ein Gott ohne dem HERRN? oder ein Hort ohne unsern Gott?
For who is God besides the Lord? and who is mightie saue our God?
32 Gott rüstet mich mit Kraft und macht meine Wege ohne Wandel.
God girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way vpright.
33 Er macht meine Füße gleich den Hirschen und stellet mich auf meine Höhe.
He maketh my feete like hindes feete, and setteth me vpon mine high places.
34 Er lehret meine Hand streiten und lehret meinen Arm einen ehernen Bogen spannen.
He teacheth mine hands to fight: so that a bowe of brasse is broken with mine armes.
35 Und gibst mir den Schild deines Heils, und deine Rechte stärket mich; und wenn du mich demütigest, machst du mich groß.
Thou hast also giuen me the shield of thy saluation, and thy right hand hath stayed me, and thy louing kindenes hath caused me to increase.
36 Du machst unter mir Raum zu gehen, daß meine Knöchel nicht gleiten.
Thou hast enlarged my steps vnder mee, and mine heeles haue not slid.
37 Ich will meinen Feinden nachjagen und sie ergreifen und nicht umkehren, bis ich sie umgebracht habe.
I haue pursued mine enemies, and taken them, and haue not turned againe till I had consumed them.
38 Ich will sie zerschmeißen, und sollen mir nicht widerstehen; sie müssen unter meine Füße fallen.
I haue wounded them, that they were not able to rise: they are fallen vnder my feete.
39 Du kannst mich rüsten mit Stärke zum Streit; du kannst unter mich werfen, die sich wider mich setzen:
For thou hast girded me with strength to battell: them, that rose against me, thou hast subdued vnder me.
40 Du gibst mir meine Feinde in die Flucht, daß ich meine Hasser verstöre.
And thou hast giuen me the neckes of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
41 Sie rufen, aber da ist kein Helfer; zum HERRN, aber er antwortet ihnen nicht.
They cryed but there was none to saue them, euen vnto the Lord, but hee answered them not.
42 Ich will sie zerstoßen wie Staub vor dem Winde; ich will sie wegräumen wie den Kot auf der Gasse.
Then I did beate them small as the dust before the winde: I did treade them flat as the clay in the streetes.
43 Du hilfst mir von dem zänkischen Volk und machst mich ein Haupt unter den Heiden; ein Volk, das ich nicht kannte, dienet mir.
Thou hast deliuered me from the contentions of the people: thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people, whom I haue not knowen, shall serue me.
44 Es gehorchet mir mit gehorsamen Ohren; ja, den fremden Kindern hat's wider mich gefehlet.
As soone as they heare, they shall obey me: the strangers shall be in subiection to me.
45 Die fremden Kinder verschmachten und zappeln in ihren Banden:
Strangers shall shrinke away, and feare in their priuie chambers.
46 Der HERR lebet, und gelobet sei mein Hort; und der Gott meines Heils müsse erhaben werden,
Let the Lord liue, and blessed be my strength, and the God of my saluation be exalted.
47 der Gott, der mir Rache gibt und zwinget die Völker unter mich,
It is God that giueth me power to auenge me, and subdueth the people vnder me.
48 der mich errettet von meinen Feinden und erhöhet mich aus denen, die sich wider mich setzen. Du hilfst mir von den Frevlern.
O my deliuerer from mine enemies, euen thou hast set mee vp from them, that rose against me: thou hast deliuered mee from the cruell man.
49 Darum will ich dir danken, HERR, unter den Heiden und deinem Namen lobsingen,
Therefore I will prayse thee, O Lord, among the nations, and wil sing vnto thy Name.
Great deliuerances giueth hee vnto his King, and sheweth mercie to his anoynted, euen to Dauid, and to his seede for euer.
