1 Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen. Errette mich, HERR, von den bösen Menschen; behüte mich vor den freveln Leuten,
To the leader. A Psalm of David. Rescue me, Lord, from evil people; from the violent guard me
2 die Böses gedenken in ihrem Herzen und täglich Krieg erregen.
from those who plot evil in their heart, and stir up war continually:
3 Sie schärfen ihre Zunge wie eine Schlange; Otterngift ist unter ihren Lippen. (Sela)
who make their tongue as sharp as a serpent’s, and under whose lips is the poison of adders. (Selah)
4 Bewahre mich, HERR, vor der Hand der Gottlosen; behüte mich vor den freveln Leuten, die meinen Gang gedenken umzustoßen.
Preserve me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked, from the violent guard me from those who are plotting to trip up my feet.
5 Die Hoffärtigen legen mir Stricke und breiten mir Seile aus zum Netz und stellen mir Fallen an den Weg. (Sela)
The proud have hidden a trap for me, cords they have spread as a net for my feet: snares they have set at the side of my track. (Selah)
6 Ich aber sage zum HERRN: Du bist mein Gott; HERR, vernimm die Stimme meines Flehens!
I have said to the Lord, “My God are you; attend, Lord, to my loud plea.
7 HERR HERR, meine starke Hilfe, du beschirmest mein Haupt zur Zeit des Streits.
O Lord my Lord, my savior mighty, you did cover my head in the day of battle.
8 HERR, laß dem Gottlosen seine Begierde nicht; stärke seinen Mutwillen nicht; sie möchten sich's erheben. (Sela)
Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; and what they have purposed, promote you not.” (Selah)
9 Das Unglück, davon meine Feinde ratschlagen, müsse auf ihren Kopf fallen.
Let them not lift up their heads against me. May the mischief they prate bring themselves to destruction,
10 Er wird Strahlen über sie schütten; er wird sie mit Feuer tief in die Erde schlagen, daß sie nimmer nicht aufstehen.
may he rain upon them coals of fire, may he strike them down swiftly, to rise no more,
11 Ein böses Maul wird kein Glück haben auf Erden; ein frevelböser Mensch wird verjagt und gestürzt werden.
no place in the land may there be for the slanderer: may the violent be hunted from sorrow to sorrow.
12 Denn ich weiß, daß der HERR wird des Elenden Sache und der Armen Recht ausführen.
I know that the Lord will do right by the weak, and will execute justice for those who are needy.
Surely the righteous shall praise your name, and they who are upright shall live in your presence.
