Psalm 104
1 Lobe den HERRN, meine Seele! HERR, mein Gott, du bist sehr herrlich; du bist schön und prächtig geschmückt.
Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
2 Licht ist dein Kleid, das du anhast. Du breitest aus den Himmel wie einen Teppich;
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
3 du wölbest es oben mit Wasser; du fährest auf den Wolken wie auf einem Wagen und gehest auf den Fittichen des Windes
Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
4 der du machest deine Engel zu Winden und deine Diener zu Feuerflammen;
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
5 der du das Erdreich gründest auf seinen Boden, daß es bleibt immer und ewiglich.
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
6 Mit der Tiefe deckest du es wie mit einem Kleid, und Wasser stehen über den Bergen.
Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
7 Aber von deinem Schelten fliehen sie, von deinem Donner fahren sie dahin.
At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
8 Die Berge gehen hoch hervor, und die Breiten setzen sich herunter zum Ort, den du ihnen gegründet hast.
They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys to the place which thou hast founded for them.
9 Du hast eine Grenze gesetzt, darüber kommen sie nicht, und müssen nicht wiederum das Erdreich bedecken.
Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
10 Du lässest Brunnen quellen in den Gründen, daß die Wasser zwischen den Bergen hinfließen,
He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills.
11 daß alle Tiere auf dem Felde trinken und das Wild seinen Durst lösche.
They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 An denselben sitzen die Vögel des Himmels und singen unter den Zweigen.
By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.
13 Du feuchtest die Berge von oben her; du machest das Land voll Früchte, die du schaffest.
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
14 Du lässest Gras wachsen für das Vieh und Saat zu Nutz den Menschen, daß du Brot aus der Erde bringest,
He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
15 und daß der Wein erfreue des Menschen Herz und seine Gestalt schön werde von Öl, und das Brot des Menschen Herz stärke;
And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.
16 daß die Bäume des HERRN voll Safts stehen, die Zedern Libanons, die er gepflanzet hat.
The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
17 Daselbst nisten die Vögel, und die Reiher wohnen auf den Tannen.
Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house.
18 Die hohen Berge sind der Gemsen Zuflucht und die Steinklüfte der Kaninchen.
The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.
19 Du machest den Mond, das Jahr danach zu teilen; die Sonne weiß ihren Niedergang.
He appointeth the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
20 Du machest Finsternis, daß Nacht wird; da regen sich alle wilden Tiere,
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: in which all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.
21 die jungen Löwen, die da brüllen nach dem Raub und ihre Speise suchen von Gott.
The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God.
22 Wenn aber die Sonne aufgehet, heben sie sich davon und legen sich in ihre Löcher.
The sun ariseth, they withdraw, and lay themselves down in their dens.
23 So gehet denn der Mensch aus an seine Arbeit und an sein Ackerwerk bis an den Abend.
Man goeth forth to his work and to his labour until the evening.
24 HERR, wie sind deine Werke so groß und viel! Du hast sie alle weislich geordnet und die Erde ist voll deiner Güter.
O LORD, how many are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
25 Das Meer, das so groß und weit ist, da wimmelt's ohne Zahl, beide große und kleine Tiere.
So is this great and wide sea, in which are creeping things innumerable, both small and great beasts.
26 Daselbst gehen die Schiffe; da sind Walfische, die du gemacht hast, daß sie drinnen scherzen.
There go the ships: there is that leviathan, which thou hast made to play in it.
27 Es wartet alles auf dich, daß du ihnen Speise gebest zu seiner Zeit.
These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their food in due season.
28 Wenn du ihnen gibst, so sammeln sie; wenn du deine Hand auftust, so werden sie mit Gut gesättiget.
That which thou givest them they gather: thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good.
29 Verbirgest du dein Angesicht, so erschrecken sie; du nimmst weg ihren Odem, so vergehen sie und werden wieder zu Staub.
Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
30 Du lässest aus deinen Odem, so werden sie geschaffen, und verneuerst die Gestalt der Erde.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
31 Die Ehre des HERRN ist ewig; der HERR hat Wohlgefallen an seinen Werken.
The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
32 Er schauet die Erde an, so bebet sie; er rühret die Berge an, so rauchen sie.
He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
33 Ich will dem HERRN singen mein Leben lang und meinen Gott loben, solange ich bin.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
34 Meine Rede müsse ihm wohlgefallen. Ich freue mich des HERRN.
My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
35 Der Sünder müsse ein Ende werden auf Erden, und die Gottlosen nicht mehr sein! Lobe den HERRN, meine Seele! Halleluja!
Let sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
