Sprueche 1
1 Dies sind die Sprüche Salomos, des Königs Israels, Davids Sohns,
The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
2 zu lernen Weisheit und Zucht, Verstand,
That one may learn wisdom and instruction, And receive words of understanding;
3 Klugheit, Gerechtigkeit, Recht und Schlecht,
That one may gain the instruction of prudence, Justice, equity, and uprightness;
4 daß die Albernen witzig und die Jünglinge vernünftig und vorsichtig werden.
Which will give caution to the simple, To the young man wisdom and discretion;
5 Wer weise ist, der höret zu und bessert sich; und wer verständig ist, der läßt ihm raten,
Let the wise man hear, and he will increase his knowledge, And the man of understanding will gain wise counsels;
6 daß er vernehme die Sprüche und ihre Deutung, die Lehre der Weisen und ihre Beispiele.
So as to understand a proverb and a deep maxim, The words of the wise and their dark sayings.
7 Des HERRN Furcht ist Anfang zu lernen. Die Ruchlosen verachten Weisheit und Zucht.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8 Mein Kind gehorche der Zucht deines Vaters und verlaß nicht das Gebot deiner Mutter!
Hear, O my son! the instruction of thy father, And neglect not the teaching of thy mother!
9 Denn solches ist ein schöner Schmuck deinem Haupt und eine Kette an deinem Halse.
For they shall be a graceful wreath for thy head, And a chain around thy neck.
10 Mein Kind, wenn dich die bösen Buben locken, so folge nicht!
My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not!
11 Wenn sie sagen: Gehe mit uns, wir wollen auf Blut lauern und den Unschuldigen ohne Ursache nachstellen;
If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us lurk secretly for him who is innocent in vain;
12 wir wollen sie lebendig verschlingen wie die Hölle, und die Frommen, als die hinunter in die Grube fahren; (Sheol h7585)
Let us swallow them up alive, like the underworld, Yea, in full health, as those that go down into the pit; (Sheol h7585)
13 wir wollen groß Gut finden; wir wollen unsere Häuser mit Raube füllen;
We shall find all kinds of precious substance, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 wage es mit uns; es soll unser aller ein Beutel sein:
Thou shalt cast thy lot among us; We will all have one purse;”—
15 mein Kind, wandle den Weg nicht mit ihnen; wehre deinem Fuß von ihrem Pfad!
My son, walk thou not in their way, Refrain thy foot from their path!
16 Denn ihre Füße laufen zum Bösen und eilen, Blut zu vergießen.
For their feet run to evil, And make haste to shed blood.
17 Denn es ist vergeblich, das Netz auswerfen vor den Augen der Vögel.
For as the net is spread in vain Before the eyes of any bird,
18 Auch lauern sie selbst untereinander auf ihr Blut, und stellet einer dem andern nach dem Leben.
So they lie in wait for their own blood; They lurk secretly for their own lives.
19 Also tun alle Geizigen, daß einer dem andern das Leben nimmt.
Such are the ways of every one greedy of unjust gain; It taketh away the life of the possessor thereof.
20 Die Weisheit klagt draußen und läßt sich hören auf den Gassen.
Wisdom crieth out in the highway; In the market-place she uttereth her voice;
21 Sie ruft in der Tür am Tor vorne unter dem Volk; sie redet ihre Worte in der Stadt:
At the head of the noisy streets she crieth aloud; At the entrances of the gates, throughout the city, she proclaimeth her words [[saying]]:
22 Wie lange wollt ihr Albernen albern sein und die Spötter Lust zu Spötterei haben und die Ruchlosen die Lehre hassen?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? How long will scoffers delight themselves in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?
23 Kehret euch zu meiner Strafe! Siehe, ich will euch heraussagen meinen Geist und euch meine Worte kundtun.
Turn ye at my reproof! Behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make known my words to you!
24 Weil ich denn rufe, und ihr weigert euch; ich recke meine Hand aus, und niemand achtet drauf,
“Because I have called, and ye have refused, —Because I have stretched out my hand, and no one hath regarded.
25 und laßt fahren allen meinen Rat und wollt meiner Strafe nicht:
Because ye have rejected all my counsel, And have slighted my rebuke, —
26 so will ich auch lachen in eurem Unfall und euer spotten, wenn da kommt, das ihr fürchtet,
I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your fear cometh;
27 wenn über euch kommt wie ein Sturm, das ihr fürchtet, und euer Unfall als ein Wetter, wenn über euch Angst und Not kommt.
When your fear cometh upon you like a storm. And destruction overtaketh you like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
28 Dann werden sie mir rufen, aber ich werde nicht antworten; sie werden mich frühe suchen und nicht finden.
Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer! They will seek me early, But they shall not find me!
29 Darum daß sie hasseten die Lehre und wollten des HERRN Furcht nicht haben,
Because they have hated knowledge, And have not chosen the fear of the LORD, —
30 wollten meines Rats nicht und lästerten alle meine Strafe,
Because they would not attend to my counsel, And have despised all my reproof, —
31 so sollen sie essen von den Früchten ihres Wesens und ihres Rats satt werden.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own devices;
32 Das die Albernen gelüstet, tötet sie, und der Ruchlosen Glück bringt sie um.
Yea, the turning away of the simple shall slay them, And the carelessness of fools shall destroy them.
33 Wer aber mir gehorchet, wird sicher bleiben und genug haben und kein Unglück fürchten.
But whoso hearkeneth to me shall dwell securely, And shall not be disquieted with the fear of evil.”
