Sprueche 3
1 Mein Kind, vergiß meines Gesetzes nicht, und dein Herz behalte meine Gebote.
My son, forget not my law; but let thy heart keep my commandments:
2 Denn sie werden dir langes Leben und gute Jahre und Frieden bringen;
For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 Gnade und Treue werden dich nicht lassen. Hänge sie an deinen Hals und schreibe sie in die Tafel deines Herzens,
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thy heart:
4 so wirst du Gunst und Klugheit finden, die Gott und Menschen gefällt.
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Verlaß dich auf den HERRN von ganzem Herzen und verlaß dich nicht auf deinen Verstand;
Trust in the LORD with all thy heart; and lean not to thy own understanding.
6 sondern gedenke an ihn in allen deinen Wegen, so wird er dich recht führen.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Dünke dich nicht weise zu sein, sondern fürchte den HERRN und weiche vom Bösen.
Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 Das wird deinem Nabel gesund sein und deine Gebeine erquicken.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Ehre den HERRN von deinem Gut und von den Erstlingen all deines Einkommens,
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thy increase:
10 so werden deine Scheunen voll werden und deine Kelter mit Most übergehen.
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
11 Mein Kind, verwirf die Zucht des HERRN nicht und sei nicht ungeduldig über seiner Strafe!
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
12 Denn welchen der HERR liebet, den straft er, und hat Wohlgefallen an ihm wie ein Vater am Sohn.
For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
13 Wohl dem Menschen, der Weisheit findet, und dem Menschen, der Verstand bekommt!
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14 Denn es ist besser, um sie hantieren, weder um Silber, und ihr Einkommen ist besser denn Gold.
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain of it than fine gold.
15 Sie ist edler denn Perlen; und alles, was du wünschen magst, ist ihr nicht zu gleichen.
She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared to her.
16 Langes Leben ist zu ihrer rechten Hand; zu ihrer Linken ist Reichtum und Ehre.
Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
17 Ihre Wege sind liebliche Wege, und alle ihre Steige sind Friede.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18 Sie ist ein Baum des Lebens allen, die sie ergreifen; und selig sind, die sie halten.
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
19 Denn der HERR hat die Erde durch Weisheit gegründet und durch seinen Rat die Himmel bereitet.
The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
20 Durch seine Weisheit sind die Tiefen zerteilet und die Wolken mit Tau triefend gemacht.
By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
21 Mein Kind, laß sie nicht von deinen Augen weichen, so wirst du glückselig und klug werden.
My son, let not them depart from thy eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22 Das wird deiner Seele Leben sein, und dein Mund wird holdselig sein.
So shall they be life to thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23 Dann wirst du sicher wandeln auf deinem Wege, daß dein Fuß sich nicht stoßen wird.
Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
24 Legest du dich, so wirst du dich nicht fürchten, sondern süß schlafen,
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: but, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25 daß du dich nicht fürchten darfst vor plötzlichem Schrecken noch vor dem Sturm der Gottlosen, wenn er kommt.
Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26 Denn der HERR ist dein Trotz; der behütet deinen Fuß, daß er nicht gefangen werde.
For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
27 Weigere dich nicht, dem Dürftigen Gutes zu tun, so deine Hand von Gott hat, solches zu tun.
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
28 Sprich nicht zu deinem Freunde: Gehe hin und komm wieder, morgen will ich dir geben, so du es doch wohl hast.
Say not to thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
29 Trachte nicht Böses wider deinen Freund, der auf Treue bei dir wohnet.
Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
30 Hadre nicht mit jemand ohne Ursache, so er dir kein Leid getan hat.
Strive not with a man without cause, if he hath done thee no harm.
31 Eifre nicht einem Freveln nach und erwähle seiner Wege keinen.
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
32 Denn der HERR hat Greuel an dem Abtrünnigen und sein Geheimnis ist bei den Frommen.
For the perverse man is an abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
33 Im Hause des Gottlosen ist der Fluch des HERRN; aber das Haus der Gerechten wird gesegnet.
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
34 Er wird der Spötter spotten; aber den Elenden wird er Gnade geben.
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace to the lowly.
35 Die Weisen werden Ehre erben; aber wenn die Narren hoch kommen, werden sie doch zuschanden.
The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
