4 Mose 13
1 Und der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach:
And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
2 Sende Männer aus, die das Land Kanaan erkunden, das ich den Kindern Israel geben will, aus jeglichem Stamm ihrer Väter einen vornehmlichen Mann.
Send thou out some men that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: one man each of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send, every one who is a prince among them.
3 Mose, der sandte sie aus der Wüste Paran nach dem Wort des HERRN, die alle vornehmliche Männer waren unter den Kindern Israel.
And Moses sent them out from the wilderness of Paran by the order of the Lord: they all were men, [who] were heads of the children of Israel.
4 Und hießen also: Sammua, der Sohn Zakurs, des Stamms Ruben;
And these are their names: Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
5 Saphat, der Sohn Horis, des Stamms Simeon
Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Chori.
6 Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes, des Stamms Juda;
Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Yephunneh.
7 Igeal, der Sohn Josephs, des Stamms Isaschar;
Of the tribe of Issachar, Yigal the son of Joseph.
8 Hosea, der Sohn Nuns, des Stamms Ephraim;
Of the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea, the son of Nun.
9 Palti, der Sohn Raphus, des Stamms Benjamin;
Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.
10 Gadiel, der Sohn Sodis, des Stamms Sebulon;
Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.
11 Gaddi, der Sohn Susis, des Stamms Joseph von Manasse;
Of the tribe of Joseph, of the tribe of Menasseh, Gaddi the son of Sussi.
12 Ammiel, der Sohn Gemallis, des Stamms Dan;
Of the tribe of Dan, 'Ammiel the son of Gemalli.
13 Sethur, der Sohn Michaels, des Stamms Asser;
Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.
14 Nahebi, der Sohn Vaphsis, des Stamms Naphthali;
Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nachbi the son of Vophsi.
15 Guel, der Sohn Machis, des Stamms Gad.
Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.
16 Das sind die Namen der Männer, die Mose aussandte, zu erkunden das Land. Aber den Hosea, den Sohn Nuns, nannte Mose Josua.
These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land; and Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun, Joshua [[Yehoshua']].
17 Da sie nun Mose sandte, das Land Kanaan zu erkunden, sprach er zu ihnen: Ziehet hinauf an den Mittag und gehet auf das Gebirge;
And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and he said unto them, Go you up this way at the south side, and go up into the mountain;
18 und besehet das Land, wie es ist, und das Volk, das drinnen wohnet, ob's stark oder schwach, wenig oder viel ist;
And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwell therein, whether they be strong or weak, whether they be few or many;
19 und was für ein Land ist, darinnen sie wohnen, ob's gut oder böse sei; und was für Städte sind, darinnen sie wohnen, ob sie in Gezelten oder Festungen wohnen;
And what the land is on which they dwell, whether it be good or bad; and what the cities are in which they dwell, whether in open places, or in strongholds;
20 und was für Land sei, ob's fett oder mager sei, und ob Bäume drinnen sind, oder nicht. Seid getrost und nehmet der Früchte des Landes. Es war aber eben um die Zeit der ersten Weintrauben.
And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be trees therein, or not; and take ye courage, and take away some of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the season of the first ripening of grapes.
21 Sie gingen hinauf und erkundeten das Land von der Wüste Zin bis gen Rehob, da man gen Hamath gehet.
And they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rechob, on the road to Chamath.
22 Sie gingen auch hinauf gegen den Mittag und kamen bis gen Hebron; da war Ahiman, Sesai und Thalmai, die Kinder Enaks Hebron aber war sieben Jahre gebauet vor Zoan in Ägypten.
And they ascended on the south side, and came unto Hebron; and there were Achiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of 'Anak; [now Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.]
23 Und sie kamen bis an Bach Eskol und schnitten daselbst eine Rebe ab mit einer Weintraube und ließen sie zween auf einem Stecken tragen, dazu auch Granatäpfel und Feigen.
And they came unto the valley of Eshcol, and they cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it upon a barrow between two; and [they took some] of the pomegranates and of the figs.
24 Der Ort heißet Bach Eskol um der Traube willen, die die Kinder Israel daselbst abschnitten.
That place was called the valley of Eshcol, on account of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from there.
25 Und sie kehreten um, da sie das Land erkundet hatten, nach vierzig Tagen,
And they returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.
26 gingen hin und kamen zu Mose und Aaron und zu der ganzen Gemeine der Kinder Israel in die Wüste Paran gen Kades; und sagten ihnen wieder und der ganzen Gemeine, wie es stünde, und ließen sie die Früchte des Landes sehen.
And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and they brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.
27 Und erzähleten ihnen und sprachen: Wir sind ins Land kommen, dahin ihr uns sandtet, da Milch und Honig innen fleußt, und dies ist ihre Frucht;
And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou didst send us, and truly doth it flow with milk and honey; and this is its fruit.
28 ohne daß stark Volk drinnen wohnet, und sehr große und feste Städte sind; und sahen auch Enaks Kinder daselbst.
Nevertheless the people are strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are very strongly walled, and great; and the children of 'Anak also have we seen there.
29 So wohnen die Amalekiter im Lande gegen Mittag, die Hethiter und Jebusiter und Amoriter wohnen auf dem Gebirge, die Kanaaniter aber wohnen am Meer und um den Jordan.
The Amalekites dwell in the southern country; and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Emorites, dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the margin of the Jordan.
30 Kaleb aber stillete das Volk gegen Mose und sprach: Laßt uns hinaufziehen und das Land einnehmen; denn wir mögen es überwältigen.
And Caleb stilled the people toward Moses, and he said, We can easily go up, and take possession of it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 Aber die Männer, die mit ihm waren hinaufgezogen, sprachen: Wir vermögen nicht hinaufzuziehen gegen das Volk, denn sie sind uns zu stark
But the men who had gone up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32 und machten dem Lande, das sie erkundet hatten, ein bös Geschrei unter den Kindern Israel und sprachen: Das Land, dadurch wir gegangen sind zu erkunden, frisset seine Einwohner; und alles Volk, das wir drinnen sahen, sind Leute von großer Länge.
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out unto the children of Israel, saying, The land through which we have passed to spy it out, is a land that consumeth its inhabitants; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33 Wir sahen auch Riesen daselbst, Enaks Kinder von den Riesen; und wir waren vor unsern Augen als die Heuschrecken, und also waren wir auch vor ihren Augen.
And there we saw the giants, the sons of 'Anak, of the giants' [family]: and we were in our own eyes as grasshoppers, and so were we in their eyes.
