4 Mose 11

1 Und da sich das Volk ungeduldig machte, gefiel es übel vor den Ohren des HERRN. Und als es der HERR hörete, ergrimmete sein Zorn und zündete das Feuer des HERRN unter ihnen an, das verzehrete die äußersten Lager.

And [when] the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard [it; ] and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed [them that were] in the uttermost parts of the camp.

2 Da schrie das Volk zu Mose; und Mose bat den HERRN, da verschwand das Feuer.

And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.

3 Und man hieß die Stätte Tabeera, darum daß sich unter ihnen des HERRN Feuer angezündet hatte.

And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

4 Denn das Pöbelvolk unter ihnen war lüstern worden und saßen und weineten samt den Kindern Israel und sprachen: Wer will uns Fleisch zu essen geben?

And the mixt multitude that [was] among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

5 Wir gedenken der Fische, die wir in Ägypten umsonst aßen, und der Kürbisse, Pfeben, Lauch, Zwiebeln und Knoblauch.

We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

6 Nun aber ist unsere Seele matt; denn unsere Augen sehen nichts denn das Man.

But now our soul [is] dried away: [there is] nothing at all, beside this manna, [before] our eyes.

7 Es war aber Man wie Koriandersamen und anzusehen wie Bedellion.

And the manna [was] as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.

8 Und das Volk lief hin und her und sammelte und stieß es mit Mühlen und zerrieb's in Mörsern und kochte es in Töpfen und machte ihm Aschenkuchen draus; und es hatte einen Geschmack wie ein Ölkuchen.

[And] the people went about, and gathered [it], and ground [it] in mills, or beat [it] in a mortar, and baked [it] in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.

9 Und wenn des Nachts der Tau über die Lager fiel, so fiel das Man mit drauf.

And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

10 Da nun Mose das Volk hörete weinen unter ihren Geschlechtern, einen jeglichen in seiner Hütte Tür, da ergrimmete der Zorn des HERRN sehr, und Mose ward auch bange.

Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.

11 Und Mose sprach zu dem HERRN: Warum bekümmerst du deinen Knecht, und warum finde ich nicht Gnade vor deinen Augen, daß du die Last dieses ganzen Volks auf mich legest?

And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?

12 Hab ich nun alles Volk empfangen oder geboren, daß du zu mir sagen magst: Trag es in deinen Armen (wie eine Amme ein Kind trägt) in das Land, das du ihren Vätern geschworen hast?

Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?

13 Woher soll ich Fleisch nehmen, daß ich all diesem Volk gebe? Sie weinen vor mir und sprechen: Gib uns Fleisch, daß wir essen!

Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

14 Ich vermag das Volk nicht allein alles ertragen, denn es ist mir zu schwer.

I am not able to bear all this people alone, because [it is] too heavy for me.

15 Und willst du also mit mir tun, erwürge mich lieber, habe ich anders Gnade vor deinen Augen funden, daß ich nicht mein Unglück so sehen müsse.

And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

16 Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Sammle mir siebenzig Männer unter den Ältesten Israels, die du weißt, daß die Ältesten im Volk und seine Amtleute sind, und nimm sie vor die Hütte des Stifts und stelle sie daselbst vor dich,

And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

17 so will ich herniederkommen und mit dir daselbst reden und deines Geistes, der auf dir ist, nehmen und auf sie legen, daß sie mit dir die Last des Volks tragen, daß du nicht allein tragest.

And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which [is] upon thee, and will put [it] upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear [it] not thyself alone.

18 Und zum Volk sollst du sagen: Heiliget euch auf morgen, daß ihr Fleisch esset! Denn euer Weinen ist vor die Ohren des HERRN kommen, die ihr sprecht: Wer gibt uns Fleisch zu essen, denn es ging uns wohl in Ägypten? Darum wird euch der HERR Fleisch geben, daß ihr esset,

And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for [it was] well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

19 nicht einen Tag, nicht zween, nicht fünf, nicht zehn, nicht zwanzig Tage lang,

Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;

20 sondern einen Monden lang, bis daß es euch zur Nase ausgehe, und euch ein Ekel sei, darum daß ihr den HERRN verworfen habt, der unter euch ist, und vor ihm geweinet und gesagt: Warum sind wir aus Ägypten gegangen?

[But] even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which [is] among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

21 Und Mose sprach: Sechshunderttausend Mann Fußvolks ist des, darunter ich bin, und du sprichst: Ich will euch Fleisch geben, daß ihr esset einen Monden lang.

And Moses said, The people, among whom I [am], [are] six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.

22 Soll man Schafe und Rinder schlachten, daß ihnen genug sei? Oder werden sich alle Fische des Meeres herzu versammeln, daß ihnen genug sei?

Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?

23 Der HERR aber sprach zu Mose: Ist denn die Hand des HERRN verkürzt? Aber du sollst jetzt sehen, ob meine Worte dir können etwas gelten, oder nicht.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’s hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

24 Und Mose ging heraus und sagte dem Volk des HERRN Wort und versammelte die siebenzig Männer unter den Ältesten des Volks und stellete sie um die Hütte her.

And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.

25 Da kam der HERR hernieder in der Wolke und redete mit ihm und nahm des Geistes, der auf ihm war, und legte ihn auf die siebenzig ältesten Männer. Und da der Geist auf ihnen ruhete, weissagten sie und höreten nicht auf.

And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that [was] upon him, and gave [it] unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, [that], when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

26 Es waren aber noch zween Männer im Lager geblieben, der eine hieß Eldad, der andere Medad, und der Geist ruhete auf ihnen; denn sie waren auch angeschrieben und doch nicht hinausgegangen zu der Hütte, und sie weissagten im Lager.

But there remained two [of the] men in the camp, the name of the one [was] Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they [were] of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.

27 Da lief ein Knabe hin und sagte es Mose an und sprach: Eldad und Medad weissagen im Lager.

And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.

28 Da antwortete Josua, der Sohn Nuns Moses Diener, den er erwählet hatte und sprach: Mein HERR Mose, wehre ihnen

And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, [one] of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.

29 Aber Mose sprach zu ihm: Bist du der Eiferer für mich? Wollte Gott, daß alle das Volk des HERRN weissagete, und der HERR seinen Geist über sie gäbe!

And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’s people were prophets, [and] that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

30 Also sammelte sich Mose zum Lager und die Ältesten Israels.

And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

31 Da fuhr aus der Wind von dem HERRN und ließ Wachteln kommen vom Meer und streuete sie über das Lager, hie eine Tagreise lang, da eine Tagreise lang um das Lager her, zwo Ellen hoch über der Erde.

And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let [them] fall by the camp, as it were a day’s journey on this side, and as it were a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits [high] upon the face of the earth.

32 Da machte sich das Volk auf denselben ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht und den andern ganzen Tag und sammelten Wachteln, und welcher am wenigsten sammelte, der sammelte zehn Homer, und hängete sie auf um das Lager her.

And the people stood up all that day, and all [that] night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread [them] all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

33 Da aber das Fleisch noch unter ihren Zähnen war, und ehe es auf war, da ergrimmete der Zorn des HERRN unter dem Volk und schlug sie mit einer sehr großen Plage.

And while the flesh [was] yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

34 Daher dieselbige Stätte heißt Lustgräber, darum daß man daselbst begrub das lüsterne Volk.

And he called the name of that place Kibroth-hattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.

35 Von den Lustgräbern aber zog das Volk aus gen Hazeroth, und blieben zu Hazeroth.

[And] the people journeyed from Kibroth-hattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
