Nahum 1
1 Dies ist die Last über Ninive und das Buch der Weissagung Nahums von Elkos.
The burden of Ninive. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elcesite.
2 Der HERR ist ein eifriger Gott und ein Rächer, ja ein Rächer ist der HERR und zornig; der HERR ist ein Rächer wider seine Widersacher, und der es seinen Feinden nicht vergessen wird.
The Lord is a jealous God, and a revenger: the Lord is a revenger, and hath wrath: the Lord taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and he is angry with his enemies.
3 Der HERR ist geduldig und von großer Kraft, vor welchem niemand unschuldig ist; er ist der HERR, des Wege im Wetter und Sturm sind und unter seinen Füßen dicker Staub,
The Lord is patient, and great in power, and will not cleanse and acquit the guilty. The Lord’s ways are in a tempest, and a whirlwind, and clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 der das Meer schilt und trocken macht und alle Wasser vertrocknet. Basan und Karmel verschmachten, und was auf dem Berge Libanon blühet, verschmachtet.
He rebuketh the sea, and drieth it up: and bringeth all the rivers to be a desert. Basan languisheth and Carmel: and the dower of Libanus fadeth away.
5 Die Berge zittern vor ihm, und die Hügel zergehen; das Erdreich bebet vor ihm, dazu der Weltkreis und alle, die drinnen wohnen.
The mountains tremble at him, and the hills are made desolate: and the earth hath quaked at his presence, and the world, and all that dwell therein.
6 Wer kann vor seinem Zorn stehen und wer kann vor seinem Grimm bleiben? Sein Zorn brennet wie Feuer, und die Felsen zerspringen vor ihm.
Who can stand before the face of his indignation? and who shall resist in the fierceness of his anger? his indignation is poured out like fire: and the rocks are melted by him.
7 Der HERR ist gütig und eine Feste zur Zeit der Not und kennet die, so auf ihn trauen.
The Lord is good and giveth strength in the day of trouble: and knoweth them that hope in him.
8 Wenn die Flut überher läuft, so macht er's mit derselbigen ein Ende; aber seine Feinde verfolgt er mit Finsternis.
But with a flood that passeth by, he will make an utter end of the place thereof: and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
9 Was gedenket ihr wider den HERRN? Er wird's doch ein Ende machen; es wird das Unglück nicht zweimal kommen.
What do ye devise against the Lord? he will make an utter end: there shall not rise a double affliction.
10 Denn gleich als wenn die Dornen, so noch ineinanderwachsen und im besten Saft sind, verbrannt werden, wie ganz dürr Stroh,
For as thorns embrace one another: so while they are feasting and drinking together, they shall be consumed as stubble that is fully dry.
11 also wird sein der Schalksrat, der von dir kommt und Böses wider den HERRN gedenket.
Out of thee shall come forth one that imagineth evil against the Lord, contriving treachery in his mind.
12 So spricht der HERR: Sie kommen so gerüstet und mächtig, als sie wollen, sollen sie doch umgehauen werden und dahinfahren. Ich habe dich gedemütiget; aber ich will dich nicht wiederum demütigen.
Thus saith the Lord: Though they were perfect: and many of them so, yet thus shall they be cut off, and he shall pass: I have afflicted thee, and I will afflict thee no more.
13 Alsdann will ich sein Joch, das du trägst, zerbrechen und deine Bande zerreißen.
And now I will break in pieces his rod with which he struck thy back, and I will burst thy bonds asunder.
14 Aber wider dich hat der HERR geboten, daß deines Namens Same keiner mehr soll bleiben. Vom Hause deines Gottes will ich dich ausrotten, die Götzen und Bilder will ich dir zum Grabe machen; denn du bist zunichte worden.
And the Lord will give a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name shall be sown: I will destroy the graven and molten thing out of the house of thy God, I will make it thy grave, for thou art disgraced.
15 Siehe, auf den Bergen kommen Füße eines guten Boten, der da Frieden predigt: Halte deine Feiertage, Juda, und bezahle deine Gelübde! Denn es wird der Schalk nicht mehr über dich kommen; er ist gar ausgerottet.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, and that preacheth peace: O Juda, keep thy festivals, and pay thy vows: for Belial shall no more pass through thee again, he is utterly cut off.
