A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham zeugete Isaak. Isaak zeugete Jakob. Jakob zeugete Juda und seine Brüder.
Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
3 Juda zeugete Pharez und Saram von der Thamar. Pharez zeugete Hezron. Hezron zeugete Ram.
and Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez was the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram,
4 Ram zeugete Aminadab. Aminadab zeugete Nahasson. Nahasson zeugete Salma.
and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon,
5 Salma zeugete Boas von der Rahab. Boas zeugete Obed von der Ruth. Obed zeugete Jesse.
and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed was the father of Jesse,
6 Jesse zeugete den König David. Der König David zeugete Salomo von dem Weibe des Uria.
and Jesse the father of David the king. And David was the father of Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah;
7 Salomo zeugete Roboam. Roboam zeugete Abia. Abia zeugete Assa.
and Solomon was the father of Rehoboam, and Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asa;
8 Assa zeugete Josaphat. Josaphat zeugete Joram. Joram zeugte Osia.
and Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah,
9 Osia zeugete Jotham. Jotham zeugete Achas. Achas zeugete Ezechia.
and Uzziah the father of Jotham, and Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah;
10 Ezechia zeugete Manasse. Manasse zeugete Amon. Amon zeugete Josia.
and Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, and Manasseh the father of Amon, and Amon the father of Josiah,
11 Josia zeugete Jechonia und seine Brüder um die Zeit der babylonischen Gefangenschaft.
and Josiah the father of Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the exile to Babylon.
12 Nach der babylonischen Gefangenschaft zeugete Jechonia Sealthiel. Sealthiel zeugete Zorobabel.
And after the exile to Babylon, Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
13 Zorobabel zeugete Abiud. Abiud zeugete Eliachim. Eliachim zeugete Asor.
and Zerubbabel the father of Abihud, and Abihud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azzur,
14 Asor zeugete Zadoch. Zadoch zeugete Achin. Achin zeugete Eliud.
and Azzur the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Ahiam, and Ahiam the father of Elihud,
15 Eliud zeugete Eleasar. Eleasar zeugete Matthan. Matthan zeugete Jakob.
and Elihud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob,
16 Jakob zeugete Joseph, den Mann Marias, von welcher ist geboren Jesus, der da heißet Christus.
and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, from whom was born Jesus, who is called the Christ.
17 Alle Glieder von Abraham bis auf David sind vierzehn Glieder. Von David bis auf die babylonische Gefangenschaft sind vierzehn Glieder. Von der babylonischen Gefangenschaft bis auf Christum sind vierzehn Glieder.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the exile to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the exile to Babylon to the Christ, fourteen generations.
18 Die Geburt Christi war aber also getan. Als Maria, seine Mutter, dem Joseph vertrauet war, ehe er sie heimholete, erfand sich's, daß sie schwanger war von dem Heiligen Geist.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened like this. His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, and before they came together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.
19 Joseph aber, ihr Mann, war fromm und wollte sie nicht rügen, gedachte aber sie heimlich zu verlassen.
And Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly.
20 Indem er aber also gedachte, siehe, da erschien ihm ein Engel des HERRN im Traum und sprach: Joseph, du Sohn Davids fürchte dich nicht, Maria, dein Gemahl, zu dir zu nehmen; denn das in ihr geboren ist, das ist von dem Heiligen Geist.
But when he thought about these things, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
21 Und sie wird einen Sohn gebären, des Namen sollst du Jesus heißen; denn er wird sein Volk selig machen von ihren Sünden.
And she will bring forth a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
22 Das ist aber alles geschehen, auf daß erfüllet würde, was der HERR durch den Propheten gesagt hat, der da spricht:
Now all this has happened, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
23 Siehe, eine Jungfrau wird schwanger sein und einen Sohn gebären, und sie werden seinen Namen Emanuel heißen, das ist verdolmetschet, Gott mit uns.
"Look, the virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel;" which is translated, "God with us."
24 Da nun Joseph vom Schlaf erwachte, tat er, wie ihm des HERRN Engel befohlen hatte, und nahm sein Gemahl zu sich.
And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife to himself;
25 Und erkannte sie nicht, bis sie ihren ersten Sohn gebar, und hieß seinen Namen Jesus.
and had no marital relations with her until she had brought forth a son; and he named him Jesus.
